Hey MattHe,

It's been 1,5 year since we had an active clan leader holding the owner rank. Our clan leader joined the army and logs in every few months making it impossible to replace him. We'll never be able to reach the one year restriction we've been asked to wait for. Isn't there any way you can help us out? He's a complete stranger to most of us and we have no clue where he might be. Saddest part is that he doesn't even meet our clan's requirements anymore.

Sending 500 players to a different chat won't be an easy task. We moved on without him while waiting for his 1 year absence so we could remove him from this position... He popped up after more than half a year and said he'd be around. Now he's inactive again and we have no way to contact him. For all we know he's been send out for some military mission again. Your Clan Owner doesn't meet your requirements?

To me, your view is quite frightening.
To think something I'd invested so much love into could be taken away at your whim.

I'm curious about some things which of course you don't have to answer.

1. Are there any features your clan is unable to interact with because of their absence?
2. Did you found clan with said person?
3. Would you be comfortable with this person learning that you're seeking to have them forcibly removed?

4. Are you comfortable with the person who started the clan that you love so much, logging in & finding out they've been forcibly removed?

5. Are you comfortable with the person who started the clan that you love so much, logging in & finding out they've been forcibly removed?

6. Are you comfortable with the person who started the clan that you love so much, logging in & finding out they've been forcibly removed?

We also have military members in our clan, & when I learn this I offer, & have been taken up on, the option to never remove them, as they can be forced to go inactive for months at a time.

I really do understand your perspective, I just hope you ask what you ask with a full grasp of what you will be taking from this person - I have no idea if there's bad blood but it would be very cruel.

I feel like what you should have done long ago, & should endeavour to do from this point forward, is to contact them when they log in, find out their perspective, & simply get an email address where you can contact them when they aren't active.

While I do understand where you are coming from, I also feel that it is a clan owners 'duty' to move on if they no longer can take care of the clan. They do not need to leave the clan but can derank themselves so that one more active can take over.

Most new clan updates are only able to be activated by the clan owner and he may have set some things to be owner only. I have set the feature of downgrades to owner only. They would also not be able to rank clannies higher than the highest existing rank. I am sure there are other things they will not be able to do due to an inactive owner.

I am sorry but I don't feel that it is a unreasonable request to replace the clan owner with someone more active.

I understand what you're saying, I think there is simply some missing information.

We are told that he does log in - so what happens when he does?

Does he ignore everyone?

Does he say "I'm staying owner & I don't care!"

They've now developed technology whereby people are able to communicate outside of Runescape - it's in the beta stage but I've found it fairly reliable.

So my point is that information is missing - has this leader said that nobody is to contact him? Does he not care? Being understanding of his worklife is not optional.

I think these circumstances would at least need to be clarified before any action was taken.

(& you don't need to quote a post you respond right after :P just adds clutter <3)

Do you see anyone here that just adds clutter?

I quote so I can easily read the post while I am writing my reply to ensure I don't miss things. Your issue of clutter is zero on my care factor list. (especially when it is written in a colour I find hard to read. Quoting turns it white.)

The point is that their leader has been inactive for over a year, logging in every few months. Yes they probably could ask him to replace ownership with someone active and maybe they have. But they are still pretty much leaderless and that could cause problems I have explained in my earlier post.

We can interact with most features. Biggest issue being that our leader doesn't meet our clan's requirements any longer. We often find clan members asking who he is and sadly I can't even answer that question myself properly.

About six years ago I found the clan with some other players. Due to taking a break I did what seemed best for the clan at that time and handed over the rank to someone more active. Sadly this player went inactive himself and handed it over to someone even more inactive, that's where we are now.

I have no idea how to feel about this. We just don't know him well. He's male and in the military, that's pretty much it.

Somewhere in summer he came back from a 6 months mission. He talked to us about how he would be home and active again. Our first reply was a positive one. Obviously you want to see the best in someone. Sadly he can't live up to his promises and I understand. It's just that it doesn't help our clan that he decided not to hand over his rank.

We consider him inactive for a year by now, three logins a year can't be called active in our opinion. Then there's the inactivity of our previous owner on top of that. We don't see an end to this anymore. We know we don't meet the requirements to get him removed from this position, we are aware of that for 1.5 years now. We have our eyes on the chat, waiting for him to come back, but don't know when that might be.

omg just because you post twice doesn't make it twice as good a point! :P

I'd love it if your current leadership was aware that getting a contact email when he's next on is crucial, & then have 1 person disscuss this with him to resolution.

He may have views that you don't understand, & you may have views that he doesn't understand.

There was some good points above, & you want the owner position 'usable', that's fair enough.

I hope you are able to discuss this with him - he's likely motivated by positive qualities in his line of work, & I'd be surprised if he was unreasonable when approached by someone who made an effort to understand his position also.
