I don't know the QFC off the top of my head, but there's a thread in the Account Security section that comes complete with screenshots of how the URL bar *should* look (with the green colour and the exact URL name). Get him to review this, print the pages if necessary, and then compare carefully, letter-for-letter, symbol for symbol, every aspect of the URL in order to determine if it's legit.

My recent understanding was that NO Jagex email will EVER contain a link to ANYTHING, including no linkback to the login page, nada, nothing. But.. has this changed with the addition of "email verification"? Yes i guess "verification" would require a linkback url, wouldn't it?

Gahhh i do feel such empathy for the not-net-savvy folks and young'uns.

That's not false information, if you know how you can easily get someones IP from voice chat services, if you don't think it's possible you're simply in denial. :P I've had friends get security issues from IRC's, without giving information. So don't act like it's 100% safe because it's not. :P Anything on the internet should be used with caution tbh.
