While I do think this is a bit off track, I'll still add my two cents:
The adventurer's log has a lot of things that are private: your activity log (especially drops), the number of quests you've done, and even your full body photo are things that are strictly private and should only be shared with your consent.
The online activity button is there if you don't want to talk to people you don't know (set it to friends only) or if you don't want to talk in pm at all (set it to off). This prevents worrying about missed pms as there'll be nothing to miss.
In terms of being seen in a certain world. This is not private information. The moment you log into a server, that information is public information. If you log into w2 ge, everyone in w2 is able to access the information that you are currently in that world. You can not take up resources in that world, kill people, or make other changes in that world that impact others while at the same time claiming your presence there is private.
I'm not objecting to the viability of this proposal. I'm objecting to this proposal being under the banner of "privacy" when I believe that it isn't applicable.
Edit to add: if something like this should be done, it should be done with a practical reason that makes it deserving of the time and resources spent without a sense of privacy being at its core.
