Add an 'Off-Topic Clan Leaders Forum':

Original message details are unavailable.
I\'ll discuss it with the forum JMod team but I think it is unlikely to be something we would want to add at the moment. In the first 5 pages of posts there are only 3 threads that might be considered not directly relevant to clans/the CLF and one of those is the post before thread.

From my point of view it is another forum I would have to read through, another forum for moderation and if it follows the CLF rules it is myself that would resolve onto. I am not sure it adds a huge amount for the extra work it creates, but I am happy to discuss it.

I have spoken with the rest of the Community Management team are we are agreed that an CLF Off-Topic would create more issues than it would resolve and so we will not be creating one. This will remain under review though.

We are in the process of reducing the number of forums, not expanding them. We will not be adding additional sub forums or similar as the traffic level in the CLF is not high enough to justify the admin burden increase or user complication.

I have no intention to add subsections to the CLF - there is not enough traffic to justify the change and it would cause significant issues from a moderation/management point of view. Having to go to page 2 or page 3 to read interesting threads is really not a big ask of any forum user.

JMods should intervene and remove inactive owners more frequently:

NOTE: Inactive clan leader removal has been implemented to an extent. See this thread!

We will not be reducing the length of time for hand moderated removal of Inactive Clan Leaders for a number of reasons:

1) The Clan is founded by a Clan Owner and there is a sense of ownership imparted in that founding.
2) 12 months was chosen as it was a manageable period from a system check point of view, easily ascertained and recognized by all parties.
3) The length of time chosen also manages the number of requests we have to hand moderate - the process is lengthy, time consuming and involves direct editing of the Clan DB, not something we do lightly or easily.

Okay, my personal thoughts on the matter.

There are MOOHASSIVE issues with ad hoc administration of Inactive Clan Owners.

- How can it be shown to be a just and fair decision?
- How can JMod\'s know they have made a just and fari decision?
- What social contracts are in place for Clans that Jagex might be unaware of?
- Under what pretext has the clan be established in the first place?
- The Clan Owner who has not logged in for 6 months; what happens if the log in tomorrow?
- How do Jagex record any decisions on administration of Inactive Clan Owners?
- How is removal/demotion of inactive Clan Owners done within the code and DB of Jagex? (really not a small ask)
- How easy is it for a JMod to reverse a poor decision?
- Who would the Clan Ownership pass to?
- How would a JMod assess the best target to pass Clan Ownership to?
- How many Clans have this issue?

The ultimate problem I have is that at the point a JMod does an ad hoc administration task on one clan and investigates that, they have to do it for every clan that comes along with the issue, or they are showing favouritism.

Since this thread was started I personally have been contacted by a number of different clans telling me they hear I am the JMod to remove inactive Clan Owners - I just don\'t have time to do all the investigation I believe should be involved before a JMod can be involved in such a decision, if they should be involved at all.

I am going to flag this issue for my Manager this afternoon and will keep you updated as to their response.

We will not be removing inactive clan owners on demand. We are asking the dev teams to look at it, make sure we have a process and a set of tools to allow us to remove clan owners. This will only only happen after clear communication with the clan leaders as to how it might work, including feedback from the CLF, I would expect.
