We were asked this very question in the recent Q&A Mod Maz and I hosted -

" Will the ban list of clans be increased (as the friends list was recently)?

No. It’s not possible due to technical implementation issues."

The popular support for ban list expansion should tell you that we don't accept this answer. Find a way.
That does seem like a rather lazy answer. Sounds more like "It's possible, but there's too many problems we'd have to work around and this isn't high-priority enough to put the time and effort needed into doing this."

Where things were possible but difficult to do so in the questions for the Q&A we said so - either things were added to the wishlist (which will be raised with the CLF for prioritisation in the future) or we tried to explain some of the complexities.

When Mod Maz is back I am sure she will happily explain, with some technical stuff, why it really is not possible. I could make assumptions why this is the case, but that would be that and probably less helpful in the long run. :) RGU | CLF | FGU | Ninja | EGC | Premier | General

I can entirely understand why you might suggest such a facility. But...

Technically that would be extremely difficult - the clan data and its interaction with individual data is a complicated web that the Queen of Squirrels has to dance around, over and under quite often. I would be greatly afeared of the amount of work that an automatic merge facility would take (and the horror of testing it).

There are also significant design issues. Who merges with who, who takes priorities, how are ranks assigned, etc.

I think it is highly unlikely Mod Maz or I would be willing to make this kind of change currently. RGU | CLF | FGU | Ninja | EGC | Premier | General

I am not wholly comfortable with ranks in the clchat, personally.

I would though ask anyone that does encounter such behaviour to report it in game. Please! Reporting it in that way is far more effective than putting it in the Flagging a Concern thread - it captures a whole bunch of data about the incident and allows a JMod to review it properly.

Right - logging on on my weekend off while my daughter bounces up and down next to me on the sofa so I will be keeping this quick.

Those who are abusive and breach the RuneScape Rules of Conduct should be reported using the ingame systems for such. This is the single most effective way for dealing with such issues. Should this matters be considered relevant to the CLF by all means report it on the Flag A Concern thread also, but it will be the Community Safety and Moderation team from whom I will take my lead, as they are the specialists.

Having considered it at length at this time I will not be adding new ranks to the clchat; but I will be monitoring the situation in case of future developments. I have no wish to censor the clchat beyond those sensible provisions for good conduct that already stand within RuneScape. If you swear a lot or are abusive in clchat (or my friends chat for that matter) you should not be surprised if you find yourself reported, muted or even banned from the game. @J4ron - it is not a case of asking the people who did the work on the notes on the friends list to simply replicate it over onto the clan functions - As Mod Maz said the clan system is entirely separate and would need a wholly different piece of work doing.
