In the examples we are talking about here, there is a deliberate attempt to scam based on the targeted player having trust with the player with the original name.

True you can't tell from the actual trade that a scam has occurred, but the similarity in name to the victims clan mates would show intent to scam at least , which together with the trade would more lean towards a guilty verdict.

Which is why the best way to deal with it isnt through Jagex but from ourselves, i feel like these reports waste a lot of Jagex's time, we can deal with scammers ourselves then it leaves Jagex free to deal with bigger issues.

This is just a game people. i have loaned money to my friends over the last 10 + years of playing rs. Most pay back, some don’t, some say they do, but probably the last 5 years of playing rs i said to myself, if i get the money or items back, great if not, this is just a game, always ways to make money to buy those items you lost, ya it takes more time depending how your getting your lost money / items back but still just a game.

As for scammers in my clan, i only had 2 who scammed, one said they lost all there money through duel staking, but kept asking clan members for money they get the money, stake again and lose it all, or so they say, then leave clan for a few days and come back and start all over again. + the person was a high rank and would change clan settings around, or demote players in my clan to a lower rank etc.

But like i said and so has a few others said, its a game and dont loan if you don’t want to lose the items / money. same applys for wild, dont go to wild unless your willing to lose the money / items.

I agree that figuring out how to report the scammers in these situations is probably quite the hassle - maybe even more than it's worth - but I still don't see why we can't take the preventative measure of changing the font.

If we see something as simple as font being abused, are we really going to prioritize the font over the players?

Come on Matt you have been given in the past the Name of the innocent party - the name of the person impersonating them in an attempt to get money. It is surely not impossible to investigate the conversations and behaviour of the person being reported ( and I suspect their ip address as I am sure they have more than 1 'false 'name up their sleeves). But if with Jagex technology it is impossible to trace the behaviour past or future of one player - then Jagex has had several reports of what the problem is and how the scam works - the font was changed to its current format - that has caused a problem - surely a solution is not rocket science.

But even if all of above is impossible I would have at the very least expected the 'false' name to be perm banned before he stuck a few months after the 1st reporting.
