We've been targeted by this at least 3 times, sadly the 1st time a player lost a huge amount of money, even though we had been giving warnings out in the clan chat prior to them coming around the first time. Now myself a few others are very alert and always watching out for new guests, if they join and leave pretty fast it's something to keep an eye on. We've banned a few guests to this as they've joined multiple times and then instantly left, never once saying anything. They may be harmless, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

There's been multiple threads made about this and I hope Jagex will come to the decision of changing the fonts, or possibly changing the name generating system. I'm not sure if that's possible but basically so it blocks out very similar names; SIMILAR, SlMILAR.

But yes all you can do now is keep doing what you're already doing, educating your clan against these scams. I have made twitter posts about this and that got 14,552 impressions, and messaged a few other clan leaders, so basically keep it up, get the word out there, and the more that know, the lower the number of victims. •

Lol we do. Begging or asking for items, ranks or money will get you banned from our Clan.

We've had 1 scam in the last 10 years and it turned out to be a hijacked veteran member account that we banned from the Clan. ;)

Trouble is that Jagex's reporting system is so limited. All you can say is there is a scam - not in what way. The alert Jmod at the other end sees someone asking for money / trust trade and does not see anything wrong. As nothing has happened against those we report in game I presume this must be the case.

Doesnt matter, people are still willingly handing over their money, its barely something that should be punished for, people just need to stop handing over their money to easily, its something that Jagex shouldnt waste time on because its something easily avoided by the player. Should concentrate on real reports and real issues.
