Sure, but ED1 wasn't even in the game when the Arc was released in 2016. There's lots of trees, already in the game, that could just simply get the boost from the T3 cabin in the meanwhile before the next phase of whatever this woodcutting rework is.

Is there a reason already given for why the new nests can't be a global thing once the requirements are met in regards to the future of Woodcutting?

The wiki has just been updated with the following text:

Woodcutters' Grove is upcoming Woodcutting training area just east of Fort Forinthry. It will contain a new building which can be upgraded to tier 3 providing Woodcutting bonuses. At tier 3, players can obtain new bird's nests which can contain pieces with which the imcando hatchat can be created.
Bird's nests obtained prior to obtaining tier 3 in the Grove will not contain these pieces.

The last line hopefully indicates that you can indeed train WC anywhere to get the nests with pieces in once you have T3 rather than having to stay there imprisoned. Ofc it might be just to say that you can't get them at T1 & T2 and that we will indeed be trapped there for a while.

Also I wonder what happens to Manage Thy Kingdom nests that won't technically be obtained by you if you have enough cash in there to not claim anything until after the grove launch.

Nobody said Elder trees aren't going to be buffed. They do, but so are all the other trees in the Woodcutter's Grove. This means if we are going for the bird's nests the odds favor us chopping lower tier trees rather.

If you want to get Elder logs, there are still plenty of them outside the Grove. Nobody stops you from getting more logs there, but you will be doing it for a totally different reason.

The grand idea of the Fort and their expansion content like WC Grove is the communal focus. RS3 clearly wants the growing community to stick and prosper together. That's why they want us to be in the Fort and City of Um once when it is up and ready to be released to the community, and built by the community for the community. There will always be certain players who are disinterested, but there are free to go elsewhere. :)

See, BrunoNutto, that's my hope too. Jagex hasn't really stated whether or not this will affect nests found from all trees, just that the new nests are a different item from the other ones and the older nests will not offer any of the pieces. It would be nice if this Cabin followed the path laid out some of the other Fort Forinthry buildings, such as the Guardhouse, in that upgrading the building has a global effect on the related content. This would allow people to gather the axe pieces by.....just woodcutting - and with the new planks being introduced there's a whole lot of incentive to actually do some lumber work.

That hope is bolstered by things like the decision to not have Magic trees be a part of the natural area's foliage (meaning if you wanted to cut a Magic tree in Fort Forinthry, you would need to plant said tree and get those logs via the Farming patch.) It -could- just be that Magics will be highly sought after commodities too, and that the tree's colors would seemingly clash with the other trees in the Grove... However, it also could be a slight nudge toward exploring the game world and cutting your Magic trees either by simultaneously training Farming across Gielinor, or by finding other natural Magic locations such as the Sorceror's Tower.

However, I could very realistically see Jagex holding all the runners at the starting line because content is artificially made better by having others to do it with. As a largely solo player, I could care less about whether or not there are other people at skilling nodes with me, and having people have to inefficiently move between different types of trees just to keep going after the axe pieces feels....mini-gamey and contrived.

If I can get nests by Woodcutting, don't tell me where I have to.

If you think about it as a minigame, you can. Won't this actually make those who like minigames and asked for more minigames in RS3 happier?

The RS3 team doesn't pretend Woodcutter's Grove to be a "new skill". :)

I would like to think of woodcutting as just woodcutting, and I would like Jagex to let me do it the way I want and have the Cabin's effects be passive buffs to my endeavors if I went out of the way to go build it in the first place.

I don't want to have to pitch a tent at choking ivy to wait for a singular tree to regrow just to roll the dice that I spot a nest, then roll it again in hopes of that nest containing a piece of the new axe.

From what I can tell, Sailing actually looks like it checks the boxes for a skill based on more recent development blogs. It looks fun too.

It's a good time to be a RuneScape player.

I don't know what "sailing" you are talking about. If you are talking about OSRS's hypothetical bug leech, temple trekking kind of minigames pretending to be a skill with no guaranteed content and no deadline, there are a lot of RNG elements there too. Oh! can OSRS players get a T80 BiS hatchet, as well as new foundations for future Fletching, Firemaking and Construction expansion in "sailing"? How? :D

No wonder less than 40% of the OSRS players want Jagex to refine the sailing minigame. Meanwhile, we have the real Woodcutting Grove's coming up right in front of the eyes of all RS3 players in just 2 days. :)

I agree with you. I also like the direction this is headed.

It is looking really good now, as we see a lot of happy RS3 players building and chopping comfortably and joyfully together now, almost 40k of them concurrently on a Monday! :)

I wish this content weren't bugged to the point of being locked for some of us. (Yes, I submitted a report, still bummed I can't join)

Seeing all those who complained about bugs on the lone thread you have posted have found the right way to build the cabin, I hope you can your problem solved so you can join in with us for all the fun soon.
