The current hatchets got me to level 99, so why do we need anything better? The game just keeps getting easier and easier.

I don't think WC will get easier. They are re-adjusting WC xp rates. We also don't know if there are going to be new trees or WC content we need the higher tier hatchet either.

Remember, we got the T90 pickaxe together with other mining updates but mining hasn't been getting easier and easier. We are probably in a similar situation with WC soon.

Mining hasn't been getting easier and easier? I remember when filling an inventory (28 slots) with runite ore took about half an hour, and god knows how many world hops. How long does an inventory take to fill now? A few minutes, and even less with stone spirits. Mining has become laughably easy.

Mining didn't get easier because of higher tier of pickaxe, just as WC isn't likely to get easier because of higher tier of hatchet.

Rockertunity may make mining easier but the T90 pickaxe doesn't. In fact, it is actually "harder" if you just AFK mining T90 rocks with T90 pickaxe now.

Going to be interesting to see how we get it.

Though guessing a "once every 2-3 hours of woodcutting, you have a chance of finding a fragment of the hatchet/axe"

Imcando Pickaxe requires solidifying the geysers that spawn. If you stay on 1 world, it can take hours to get all of the pieces. If you hop worlds, you can get it done in maybe < 20 minutes. Hour at the worst?

Imcando Mattock is the chance so long as you're in the Warforge. Yes, it takes hours to get the pieces, but the RNG isn't that badly skewed and a person, like with any drop rate, can finish 'sooner' while someone with bad rng might take a day.

"Once every hour, a tree turns into a strange bloom ... you must cut it down ... when it is complete ... a strange piece of metal falls out ... "
"Once every hour ... the necrotic energies take hold of a tree ... you must cull it to keep it from spreading ... "

Woodcutter Grove livestream coming up. We should know tomorrow. :)

Going to be mildly curious to watch the whole livestream replay (when it comes out on youtube or twitch or something).

My "hyped" levels burned out years ago. Now just more of an "hmm, that's an interesting way to do it"

We know the key points now. Woodcutter Grove is far more than just a new place to chop trees and get a new BiS hatchet, it is also far more than a minigame. It is actually the new foundations for a new WC system to address to some of the better suggestions on a WC Rework similar to the M&S rework, but they will be making the changes over time instead of releasing a total rework in one go.

Similar to M&S rework, we get wood spirits and wood boxes in lieu of stone sprits and ore boxes. XP of different tiers of trees and axes are readjusted, with the new Imcando tier being truly amasing. We have new bird nests that give new fascinating rewards including the new BiS Imcando Axe. Jmods said in the future there will be updates to fletching, firemaking, construction based on this new mechanics. For instance, Elder construction contracts etc. I guess this is why stories of the Fort will continue even after the release of Necromancy.

A lot of players who ask for a WC rework should have a lot of things to enjoy starting next Monday when Woodcutter Groves is released. New craftable bows similar Masterworks for smithing coming out of Woodcutter's Grove later? I think it may be a possibility.

Fort Forinthry is becoming more and more important and popular to Jagex now. We Duke of Forinthry will also be claiming more lands from the Wildyness. We are going to annex the Wildy land east of the Fort starting next Monday, and it will be our Woodcutter's Grove.

General PSA, if you haven't built your Fort to T3 and completed every building available to this point,
do it now
.

The materials needed are being rebalanced in order to justify a significant bump in construction XP for building/fortifying Fort Forinthry in order to make it a viable Construction training method.

---

The Grove functions as a new building.

Tier 1 - Normal/Oak trees are present in the Grove, log piles function as banks, the new wood box can carry the new wood spirits, which function like their mining counterparts, and birds nests are automatically picked up.

Tier 2 - Willows, Yews, and Ivy are added to the list of choppable foliage, the Grove has a new tree patch, and nests are automatically stored in the wood box, which also gains the function of carrying them at this tier. (if you wish to chop Magic trees at the Grove, you must plant the tree in this new patch!)

Tier 3 - An Elder tree shows up, nest rewards are improved, including the chance to reward the player with the four pieces of the T80 hatchet, which Thurgo can forge for them if brought the pieces and additional materials.

I really like how the upgrades are focused on Woodcutting and not spread out among other skills for the most part, but I kinda don't like that so much of it is localized to the Fort. One of Woodcutting's strengths is that trees are literally everywhere in the game - and encourage a small bit of whimsical exploration to find. I would have made finding the axe pieces and better loot a global update once the T3 cabin is built.

I mean, think about it in terms of chopping Elder logs. There are like....5 trees in the game now (6 if one is planted in the Crwys district) Am I to understand that the only Elder tree that drops the nests necessary for the hatchet pieces is the one at Fort Forinthry? People usually chop all of those trees at the moment.

We get new bird's nests from WC activities in the new Grove, not just Elder Trees at release. In the future, the new bird's nests will drop from various activities outside the Grove.
