Annie rolled her eyes at Chloe‘s comment for agreeing with Travis. She disagreed with them about her learning how to fight. She watched them go talk to the captain. She wanted to help not go to sleep. She decided to follow them to find what’s really going on.

She finally got where they were talking to the captain. She went under the window so no one would see her and listened what they were talking about. She was shocked what she heard and ready to help.

Ridley and Ben

Ridley had given Talia a quizzical look when she revealed the power was her doing. Ben nodded to her, acknowledging her help.

Bridge

So, back into the airship, via the lounge window, then to deck 3. The fires seem to have died, and some lights were working. The captain had stayed with his ship, as any loyal captain would have chosen. He offered them to sit.

“Ha, too woozy to wanna touch anything.” Ben remarked as he sat casually, still under the effects of alcohol, but it had subsided.

Ridley shrugged and sat, crossing his legs and keeping his chin slightly raised. He seemed to be in a good mood, but at the same time did not really care about anything. Later, others arrived, a few of whom Ben remembered from earlier.

“Ya’ll still alive?” Ben remarked as they got comfortable.

The captain spoke again, giving his dire message. Lack of supplies and power, and no way to call for help, while in the middle of nowhere full of man eating monsters... not much looked optimistic. Then, he made a suggestion: to find the enemy ship, and either hijack it or use it communication array.

Ben’s eyes got large for a second, but Ridley did not seem to care. Gareth was the first to speak up, and despite some reluctance, he offered to partake in the suicide mission, but he needed a matrix and a weapon. He also mentioned lack of information regarding the enemy ship thus far.

When Travis said ‘Mud-man’ Ben looked at him for some reason. He also mentioned further challenges, but in the end, offered his abilities.

“‘Em beasts fear fire. I’d bet if ya got a circle o’ bonfires all ‘round deh ship, yeh could scare ‘em off fer good. Lots a firewood in a forest.” Ridley remarked as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. “Put th’ ‘ole damn forest on fire if ye have ta.”

“Now, now, don’t get carried away...” Ben commented.

“Would be better den nothin’, and the citizenry won’t have ta fear nothin’, eh?” Ridley said. He clearly was pretty optimistic about maximizing damage. Ben just dismissively shook his head.

“It won’t be easy, but... maybe dem baddies had to fight some monsters, too. If they be tired n’bruised, we might get the jump on em.” Ben suggested, indicating he was for the plan.

“Aw, ha! Like dey need ta be bruised! I say we go in, shoot their arms and legs off, and feed em to the animals.” Ridley stated while trying to hold in laughing. He clearly wasn’t the most reasonable or logical fellow around.

Gareth Arenar

"It may be our only option." Gareth agreed, turning to face Travis. "Still, there need to be some preparations to protect this ship as well." He glanced over at the child hiding underneath the window, and his eyes narrowed slightly - did she think no one could see her?

Then someone suggested they establish a ring of fires around the ship. Gareth swiveled around to face him. "Are you mad?" He demanded, somewhat incredulously - this man made Ben seem like a wise sage by comparison. "Do you know how fast a forest fire can spread? Once the surrounding trees are set ablaze, the heat will cook the passengers inside the ship and force them outside, where they will choke to death on the smoke." He glared at the man, and then muttered quietly under his breath. "Idiocy..."

Ridley

Tilting his head back and showing his teeth, Ridley laughed aloud, a mix of pretentiousness and derisiveness.

"Yeah, an' I think it better dem puppies come back n' eat 'em all alive, ah?" he remarked. "They be scared o' flames, I'd put th' 'ole damn forest on fire if I 'ad ta! If I die, I take 'em dead wit' me." he assured.

Bridgett

Bridgett leaned on the back wall, pondering thoughtfully as the group argued.

I think I have a better plan. ” Bridgett chirped in loudly. “ Though you’re probably not going to like it. The problem, as I see it, is that we don't know where they are. But, you see, my father once told me a story from back in the war. A lone ship was stranded from the fleet and lacked the necessary communication equipment. So they performed a Nexus burst – if you flush a large Crystallis core with energy, it will give off distortions based on other large Crystallis nearby. The shift in the core flux should provide us with an approximate direction of the nearest Crystallis core – provided, at least, that their core is still active.

Could we make that happen here? ” Bridgett asked, eyeing the captain. She knew full well that such a proposal risked depleting what little power they had left – or, worse, imploding the Crystallis core. Regardless, it sure beat burning down the forest or running around blind.

Annie was still under that window listening in at the captains meeting. She hated the idea of burning the forest around them. But she really thinks the idea of flush a large Crystallis was a very interesting idea. She stayed very quiet so they won't know she was there listening in. She was very scared, tired, pain, wet, cold and hungry. -Dances-

An Argument Across Time

If it had not been dead, then the man who wears a Guild emblem would not have ceased to deliver a killing blow.
” Alicia replied to Gareth. “
If there had been any other monsters in the area, they would have joined into one of the two ongoing combats already, or jumped on us when we were in plain sight of anyone not otherwise engaged. Monsters aren’t governed by the logical sense not to become involved, and don’t care if it’s obvious they’re going to die. The ones around this area appear to be the more vicious kind, as well, and since we had not been jumped it was a very reasonable deduction that there were no more around.

She paused for a moment, letting out a sigh of minor resignation before adding, “
I am aware that I need to be careful, and I do not intend to simply keep my guard down. However, I cannot let this go if there is something I can do to assist. Should my intervention save a life that would have been lost otherwise, it is a worthwhile risk to take.

Crash Site - Ship Interior: Bridge

Yeah, I’m going to veto that idea too. Even if you could get those fires going with it downpouring out, like our resident intellectual just said, you’re just going to get everyone else killed. Seems pretty counterproductive.
” Talia commented, punctuating the interjection with a yawn. Her eyes were still closed, and she didn’t straighten up in her chair. If anything, she sank deeper into it, looking like she would very much like to just go to sleep.

That went away almost instantly when Ridley made his rather violent suggestion. Her eyes shot open and then narrowed, and although there wasn’t open hostility in her voice it was very clear that she did not like what she had just heard.

Nobody deserves something like that.
” she said, her voice quiet, adding a final word a she closed her eyes once again. “
Nobody.

The Captain cleared his throat before speaking again, turning the chair to face Gareth directly, although not before acknowledging Travis with, “
I’m glad to have someone from the Guild here. Any experience you can bring is invaluable, and your presence as a witness to the events here is even more so.

He continued to Gareth, “
Yes, I am aware. He was present on the bridge for a short time during the boarding, and activated it before he left. Given that the technology is quite rare and mostly unstable, and combined with the fact that no other was used, I find it very unlikely that more than one is present.

Harbinger?
” Talia interjected.

Yes.
” the Captain replied, causing Talia to mutter, “
Hooray.
” before he kept speaking.

That was one of the initial options we had considered, but unless there is no other option remaining it is not an advisable course of action.
” he replied to Bridgett. Despite what he was saying, it sounded like he was at least somewhat impressed that she had come up with the idea as well. “
We cannot yet afford to destroy the source of the little energy we have remaining, and there are a few other issues as well. If their cores are inactive, it would not even register, and even if it does, if they are paying attention at all, they will notice. It does not matter that they know where we are, but if they are aware that we know where they are, it’s very likely they would move themselves and we would lose our opportunity.

However, I would not have called you here with no plan. There is a more efficient means with which to locate them that has presented itself, and it’s why you’re up here, or rather the main reason. From your interactions with the enemy, I presume you noticed that they were all wearing helmets. In the short time there was to think, we noticed that they are all connected via a network, and by linking that into the ship’s navigation system and reverse engineering several bits of it we were able to find out their approximate location. Silvandros, if you would.

With another yawn, Talia pulled her matrix out of her pocket and held it for a moment. A green-white light surrounded it after a few moments, and Gareth would feel as though there was a breeze circling around the navigation controls in front of him. If he actually looked, he would see that the controls seemed to be operating without anyone actually doing anything to them, although the breeze would probably be enough to let him know that Talia was actually using air pressure to operate the controls rather than coming over to do it physically.

With a few sparky bursts, a screen lowered from where it had been hanging against the roof of the bridge, and a rather fuzzy map appeared on it. Not a lot was clear by looking at the map, although there were several points that were highlighted as well as a compass and a scale. Once they were all visible, the breeze feeling next to Gareth ceased, and the Captain began speaking again.

This is where we are.
” he said, standing up and pointing to a cluster of four points. His hand then moved to the upper right of the screen, where there was another cluster, this one of three.
