similarities to what he could only assume were a cousin species of monster, albeit those ones had been significantly smaller than this hulking beast. Eliminating it would be a challenge... Still, he was up for a challenge, and he did always go out of his way to nab those big elimination requests. He wiped the manic grin from his face once he realized it was there, his free hand dipping into his unknown reserve of throwable blades as he sharply spoke to his combat partner - Bridgett.

" I'll get its attention, head to the right soon as I shout, " He said in a tone that didn't really leave room for debate, acting as if he were in charge - which was fair, in this situation he was certainly the senior authority on monsters. They'd never fought together before so he could only guess as to Bridgett's capabilities, but he presumed she was smart enough to pick up on some of the obvious traits of the creature. " Once its busy try'na get me off its back, I figure you'll know when to take advantage. "

There wasn't really time to argue about the plan, at least as far as Travis was concerned. It wouldn't be content to glare at them for long, so as soon as he provided instructions he kicked off the ground in a sharp dash to the left - flinging the pair of knives he'd slipped into his hand at the gorilla-monster's face. They were not intended to really injure the creature, only to grab its attention - and annoy it. " Hungry ya' big bastard?! Come an' get'cha fill of me! " He shouted for good measure.

His plan was vague, as always, but his instincts and quick thinking had served him well enough in the past. Travis would certainly not be able to outrun a full charge from the monster, he knew that perfectly, but he wasn't trying to outrun it, only make it storm after him. Then, assuming it did just that, he would make his move and sharply change direction - ducking and rolling low to the ground beneath the beast - between its legs.

Assuming that worked and he wasn't

trampled or otherwise smushed to pulp he would come up from his roll into a combat crouch, kick off the ground and attempt to leap at the lower back of the monster, kii9cking off from one of its legs if necessary, and drive his dagger into its muscular, hairy flesh - then using that as a deathgrip, he'd start to climb the monster's back.

Of course, this was assuming his vague plan worked. If not... Well, good thing he could think on the fly, and he was damn quick.

Gareth Arenar

That... was not good.

Some giant ape-like creature was thundering through the woods, directly towards their destination. Gareth vaguely recalled reading about such creatures, and the snippets he could remember did not help him in the slightest. What's worse was the fact that sounds of combat could be heard from the crash site, indicating that more creatures were already there.

He knew this had been a bad idea... he had just been expecting the enemy to be people instead of animals.

He glanced around, and spotted a particularly hefty branch, as wide as three fingerwidths and as long as three quarters of his height. It wouldn't stop whatever was ahead of him, but it could serve to wack them on the nose and create a temporary distraction. It was a long-shot, of course, but it was better than nothing.

He looked down at the Princess. " We can't hold that thing off." He quietly pointed out. "We have no weapons, and that's gunfire I hear - we'll likely just get in the way. If we had guns or matrices, we might be able to make some difference, but we don't. All we can do is hope they hold out, and if not we will have to run. Now, follow me and try to avoid making noise." Moving as stealthily as he could manage, he snuck through the trees and closer to the crash site, so he could better observe the situation but still be obscured by the foliage.

Bridgett

Bridgett felt the blade of her spear strike against the creature’s bone, though as the swing swung wide she knew such a superficial blow wouldn’t be nearly sufficient. Planting her feet on the ground, she pulled back her spear at the creature reared its ugly head. Cursing, Bridgett realised her folly immediately; when pushing one’s prey against a wall, a hunter could find no greater adversary.

The creature wasn’t one to go down without a fight. Bearing its fangs, it bowed down on its front legs, ready to pounce. The final bout between tertiary hunters was about to begin, when a loud growl stopped both adversaries in their tracks. Bridgett could have sworn she saw a hint of fear in the dog’s eyes, as it gave up entirely and limped back towards the woods from which it came.

Bridgett was about to let the creature go, when Bridgett heard some rustling from the bushes. Lifting her spear once more, she could tell something was coming; what she didn’t expect was a gigantic fist launching from beyond her view. Evidently, the creature didn’t expect it either, as it was grinded by the massive force coming down atop of it.

Taking a step backwards, Bridgett was vaguely aware that Travis had made it to her side and of very little else. It was hard to blame her forlorn focus, for a massive furry muscly hangry humanoid emerged from the brush. Graciously, the 18 foot figure paused to consider the pulp spread across its hands, and then directly at Bridgett and Travis.

Before Bridgett was able to access the situation, Travis was already coming up with the starting of an evidentially suicidal plan. Bridgett gave the Travis a disapproving look; were all guild members suicidal?

You can’t be seri… ” Bridgett sighed, shaking her head. Evidentially, Travis was serious, for he had already begun charging the creature.

Your funeral, ” Bridgett grumbled.

Following Travis’s lead, Bridgett began her suicidal march towards the creature. Luckily, veering rightward provided a lot of cover from the foliage. Watching the giant creature move, Bridgett could immediately see the reason why Travis had charged in without a second thought; here, the creature’s movement was bound by trees – if they made it into the clearing, the thing would be neigh unstoppable.

Reaching the creature’s flank, Bridgett peered around a tree as the crazy fool actually attempted to slide under the giant ape. Heavens would only know what would come next.

Crash Site - Interior

Although Ben made it into the interior, his haphazard approach had left him with a problem that they had been circumventing by not having people climb in and out on their own, or any more that was necessary: there was still sharp glass in the window. Given that he still wasn’t as coherent as he could be, the climb inside gave him a few slashes on his hands from the attempt. They weren’t horribly debilitating, but they were still somewhat large cuts on his hands that would make gripping and lifting things a bit more difficult.

As the fire and flames were present mostly in areas that were not directly connected to the interior of the craft, there wasn’t much danger from smoke to those attempting any form of rescue. There were very few people left inside, as well, and now that he was in it would be clear that there were those that had been killed by some portion of the impact. There were not, however, that many, certainly less than most people would have thought. In fact, it seemed like most of the people that had died had been killed when the ship had been fired upon, and not when it had crashed.

There were not many people left inside, either; perhaps one or two others besides Ben. However, he would notice when he was on deck 3 that the door to the outside was open and there were two people out on the deck. Unless he went closer to actively observe, all he would be able to really tell was that they seemed to be in some form of combat, likely with whatever had started attacking before.

The ship itself was at an angle, the front being where it slanted down towards. It was also tilted slightly to the right if one was facing towards the front. Nearly all of the seats were still in place, although there was debris scattered all over the decks from various parts of the ship. It actually looked like, as with the deaths, most of them had happened from the attack, before the ship had crashed.

The only area where there was much smoke at all was down in the cargo hold, which was mostly demolished. As had been observed from the outside, the hull on the bottom had been crumpled inwards so that, where there had been perhaps eight to ten feet from the catwalk to the floor, there was now three or less. Cargo and debris was in piles all over the hold, and the catwalk had buckled and was now in a V shape, the center down on the floor. The smoke was coming from the engine area, but was behind a shut door and not a great deal was escaping.

There hadn’t been a great deal of searching going on in the cargo hold, primarily because there wasn’t supposed to really be anyone down there. Everywhere else seemed to be mostly taken care of, so it was up to Ben what he wanted to do next.

Crash Site/Forest - Monster Battle

The knives to the face were little more than pinpricks, missing any target that might have caused actual damage, but they did serve to get the attention of the creature. That and the shout, as well as the fact that Travis was directly to its front, did what they were supposed to and it started to move after Travis. It was not a full charge, as he had been hoping, but the creature was moving fast enough that Travis’ maneuver had a reasonable amount of success.

He got behind it, but that was, unfortunately, where the plan came to a bit of a halt. As it wasn’t moving at full speed, the monster was able to react, and its reaction took the form of it spinning around, one fist flying towards Travis. It was able to react before he could get a jump up on its back, but it was large enough that the movement was slightly elongated and Travis would have a short time to react to the incoming fist. If it did hit him, it would almost certainly send him flying, and with all the trees around he was probably guaranteed a very painful impact.

For now, it seemed to not make a move towards Bridgett. It looked like Travis was the sole focus of its attention, although given how it had moved on him it was almost certain it would make whoever moved on it another target. The reaction time that it had shown just now was quite impressive as well, although since it was ignoring all but Travis it was likely the monster did not have the greatest amount of intelligence.

Crash Site/Forest - Crash Survivors

The nearest group to Ridley would be the group of survivors that were currently being protected by five people on the ground and two on top of the ship. All give on the ground had firearms, three of them with rifles and the other two with handguns. One of the ones on top of the ship had another rifle, while the last looked to be using combat matrices. All in all, they were doing a good job at keeping the monsters away from the fearful, huddling passengers, but there were quite a few of the monsters still attacking.

At the point where Ridley joined the combat, a group of five of the creatures had come in from the side, from the direction that the crashed airship was facing, and were about to charge the single man with a rifle that was trying to hold them back. On the opposite side, the two individuals with guns had just finished clearing out a wave of four of the creatures, and were currently reloading. It looked like they were currently in the clear, although it looked like the creatures would probably move to attack them soon enough.

On the side opposite the airship, the main wave of creatures were charging, and it seemed like they were putting all of their energy into trying to break the defensive line inbetween them and their prey. Several hits had been scored on them, but it was not yet stopping their charge.

Ridley had a few choices to make, and it looked like he was going to be limited in what he could accomplish.

Forest

But...I...ok.
” the Princess replied, and it was clear from her tone that she didn’t like this. She didn’t argue, that alone telling Gareth she knew he was right, but he could rest assured that, if she got the ability to do something, she most certainly was going to.

She followed behind him as best she could, but she wasn’t as stealthy and it looked like she wasn’t perfectly steady on her feet either. Of course, Gareth wouldn’t really see this unless he was watching her, which was probably not the case given the situation that they were in. She still managed to keep up with him just fine too, so there wasn’t presently any cause for concern.

As they came within sight of the crash, as well as both scenes of combat, Alicia’s hands went to her mouth to muffle the gasp that slipped out. Eyes wide as she took in the battle between those who had been in the cargo hold and the giant monster, as well as the frantic defense of the passengers, the Princess was frozen in place.

Everything that had happened was her fault, after all.

Gareth, on the other hand, assuming he was surveying the field of battle, would notice something else that nobody else would be able to. Off to the side, a bit forward and towards the fight from where Gareth and Alicia were, facing the giant monster fight, was someone else. Everything about them except their general appearance wasn’t clear, so all that Gareth could really see was that they looked female. In the hand of the person was a shimmering object, likely a matrix.

This person was obscured from the fight itself by the trees that they were hiding behind, so nobody but Gareth - and Alicia if she actually was able to see beyond the fights - was able to see them, and they were very clearly doing something .
