It... Was a fair point she raised. It was wet, it was windy and, most of all, it was cold. Exposure was sure to take some if not most of the survivors unless they could safely remain within the interior of the ship, but if that wasn't an option... That would be tough. Travis let out a hum of consideration, wiping some soaked hair from his forehead.

" Ain't that the truth... " He muttered, more to himself than to Bridgett. He kept his tone low. " Sad part is there ain't much we can do 'bout it. If the ship ain't safe to stay in until rescue then we can't keep 'em in there, it's too damn exposed outside so that'll take the injured before they can get real help, and I'm a damn good pathfinder but I ain't ever been through these woods before - let alone led that many folk at once. "

Travis gave the girl a proper look, expression sober. " Whatever we find it's gonna be a mess. I'll do what I can to save who I can, but I ain't feeling optimistic just yet. "

Crash Site - Ben

The passengers that were huddled around outside the ship didn’t do much to answer Ben at first, most of them moving away from him a bit when he approached. It wasn’t surprising; most of them probably had no idea who he was and weren’t really in the mindset to automatically think he was here to help. Still, when he didn’t make any hostile moves, that was all they really did. It looked like most of them were still trying to come to terms with what was happening, and therefore weren’t going to be paying much attention to him.

Going around through the passengers were two people that looked like they were trying to give medical attention to those that were wounded. There were still quite a few passengers that were injured in some way, some more serious than others, although none out here seemed to have life-threatening or incredibly serious injuries. Most of the attention was on them, calling them around to try and get everybody taken care of before anything went badly.

The only response he got was from someone that he may, or may not, recognize as the bartender in the lounge. The man, obviously recognizing him as well, approached, limping as he did, and told him, “Out front. They’re getting people out through the lounge window. Go out there if you want to help.”

Assuming Ben did follow those directions, he would find himself out in front of the ship. It looked a lot worse than the rear. The cargo hold area looked like it had crumpled on impact, and the bottom of the lunge area on deck 2 was only about five feet above the ground. The front window that had been on the lounge was shattered, and, like the bartender had said, people were being lowered through it. Two crew members stood on the ground, waiting for those still inside to be brought out so that they could assist their descent, while a few people came from within the ship, helping passengers out and down to the ground.

The hull above the lounge looked in better shape, however, The bridge looked like it was still intact, although the windows were broken partially, and the dome above deck 4, at least from what Ben could see from the ground, was still intact as well. The hull itself wasn’t breaking apart, and although it looked worse for wear it didn’t look like it was going to collapse or anything like that.

Nobody seemed to be paying much attention to Ben as he rounded the side of the vessel.

Crash Site/Forest - Trio

The approach of the trio of Annie, Travis, and Bridgett towards the crash site would be much like Ben’s, at least at first. The fires were still burning, the people were still huddled off to the side with more joining them as time went by, and the path of destruction left by the downed ship was still quite easy to notice and follow.

That, however, was where the similarities ended and the unfortunate differences began. They were still far enough away that it would take a non-instantaneous amount of travel time at a sprint to get there when they, Travis especially and likely before everyone else, began to hear noises in the wood around them. It wasn’t good noises, either; the growling of the monstrous denizens of the world was what sounded in their ears, and Travis and Bridgett would both know enough to realize they were heading for the crash.

They were not left alone, however. After a few moments of hearing the animalistic noises move past them, three of the creatures accosted them, leaping out from the trees at the trio, one of them at each person. The monsters were wolf-like, large gray-furred quadrupeds with razor-sharp teeth and murderous shining eyes, and it was very clear they wanted nothing more than to eat these delicious humans for whatever meal this happened to be.

Forest

Alicia did what Gareth said, although her attempt was a little less stealthy or informed as his own. Still, she made little noise that could be heard above the wind and rustling trees, and there wasn’t a pause in the moving noises that Gareth had heard earlier. In fact, they kept approaching at about the same rate, although the voice that had accompanied them stopped for the time being.

It felt like they waited there for longer than one would expect, but eventually the noises grew to a point where it was clear what they were. It was a single pair of feet moving at a running pace across the ground and through the forest, seeming to care very little about making noise as they rushed through the underbrush. In fact, they seemed to be in such an uncaring hurry that numerous explicatives could be heard through the trees as they moved towards where Gareth was, came level with him, and then passed, continuing to head towards the wreck.

The voice sounded familiar, but wasn’t quite close enough for him to fully identify it, and whoever or whatever it was didn’t stop to let him figure it out. They passed by quickly and began to fade into the distance, still heading in the general direction of the crash. Alicia looked like she wanted to move from the hiding spot, but looked in Gareth’s direction instead, waiting in him to say something. It was clear this was not something she had a lot of experience with, or at least was used to listen to someone else who knew what they were doing.

Barely a few seconds past between the moment Travis finished speaking and the moment he heard something far less pleasant. Instincts, experience and training all kicked in at once - the man putting an arm out in front of Bridgett and extending another across to Annie, halting all of their movement as sharply as he could manage without startling them. Monstrous growling, movement in the foliage, hefty footsteps that were masked by a stalker's instincts - the girls would probably notice shortly after he stopped them, less their senses were as honed as his for this kind of situation, which he doubted.

Unable to see them didn't mean Travis was unable to pinpoint any information. While he wasn't quite able to pick out their numbers he was able to tell they were mostly heading towards the crash site, and it didn't take an expert to figure out why they would do so. Beyond that however, the footfall he could make out gave him the impression they were relatively large monsters, numerous enough and in close proximity made them likely to be social hunters - pack hunters even. Quadrupeds based on the timing between steps.

However, he noted a more immediate threat to him and his companions. Three sets of footfall were separating from the main body, instead coming towards the spot the three of them had stopped at. There was nearly no time to say or do anything, but even so Travis managed to speak hurriedly to Annie even as his right hand drew one of his daggers from its sheath.

" Annie, you're gonna turn around an' climb that tree behind us- " That was the extent of what he could get out, being cut off by the sudden emergence of the three monsters. Canid types, so his pack hunter theory was on the money, but just like he'd expected these were not monsters he'd seen before. He'd seen similar, but not these - their capabilities were mostly a mystery, but based on first impressions they were pretty standard with sharp claws and teeth. Cunning enough to go for a person each.

Of course... Travis had dealt with far worse.

With a flick of his left wrist a pair of small knives flew from between his fingers, the moment he had slid them into hand missed by everyone, whizzing through the air and digging into the front right leg of the monster approaching him. They managed to breach its fur and hide, a flicker of crimson and a pained yelp an obvious indicator, its leg not quite buckling but certainly throwing it off its momentum.

Still it came at him, leg wound slowing it but not stopping it. That was fine, it wasn't intended to stop the monster anyway. Travis lunged forwards to meet its charge, then deftly sidestepped at the last second, his body twirling in what might look to any onlookers like a dancing motion, but his dagger whipped around and filled the space where he had been - the blade tearing a terrible gash along the side of the monster as its own momentum was used against it. Blood sprayed across the ground as its legs gave out, its momentum carrying it head over tail for a couple metres before it lay in a crumpled heap, deeply wounded but not dead - still out of the fight.

Having so handily taken care of his own monster the Guild member was able to sharply turn to another. They would be past him by now, and their speed indicated he wouldn't reach one before they reached the girls, so he had to trust Bridgett knew how to use that spear (which as he'd thought about before, she almost certainly did) and began to charge after the one that was targetting Annie. His free hand dipped down and withdrew another pair of small throwing knives from an unseen slot in his outfit, flinging the pair of blades at the monster and succeeding in sinking them into its left back leg - surprising it and making it yelp in pain.

Much like the first it wouldn't stop it, but it would slow it - and he'd catch up soon.

Hopefully the child could keep herself from getting mauled within those few seconds.

Annie was walking with the group towards the crash to help the injured. She was still very cold and wet. She heard the animalistic noises move past them, three of the creatures accosted them, leaping out from the trees at the group. She was very scared because she knows she couldn't fight. She heard Travis told her to climb a tree behind them. She nodded and ran to a tree behind them and started to climb it. She knew she needed to learn to fight if she was going to survive with this group. -Dances-

Ben

At first there wasn’t much activity from the survivors, but then the bartender stepped forth to help him out. Ben nodded at the chap who was the only one who recognized him (the bartender sold good booze), and assuming that no one else was going to do much else, Ben made his way to the front, where the lounge window was.

Indeed, things looked bad, but on the bright side, the airship seemed to have been stable enough not to collapse. So, there was hope, and Ben sighed with relief. It was up to him to do something; unlike many others, he was not injured, he had to do something, to help the two crewmembers and a few others helping people out. Ben approached the lounge window to start helping.

“Has any of yous crawled up inside? Is there lots of smoke and fire in there? If the fire spreads, it’ll melt the ship’s framework and it could fall.” Ben inquired as he did his part in helping getting people through the lounge window.

Meanwhile, Ben had no way to know what trouble the trio stumbled upon.

Gareth Arenar

Gareth listened carefully, and what he heard was a rather loud individual with a vaguely familiar feminine-sounding voice stampeding through the woods.

Unfortunately, it was impossible to identify who was actually speaking. It could be one of his associates from the ship, but it could just as easily be one of the soldiers who had been threatening them not too long ago. Were any of the soldiers female? He should have taken note of that detail, come to think of it. It certainly couldn't be Chloe - after falling out of an airship with no bail-out gear, he could only assume that she had died. The footsteps seemed too heavy to come from the kid, but that was hard to tell, though she never struck him as one to have such a colourful vocabulary. What about Bridgett, or that writer? No... neither of them had been anywhere near the cargo hold, at least not to his knowledge.

It could be friend, or it could be foe. An alternative possibility was that the familiarity was just his imagination. It might not even be a woman at all, but instead a particularly high-pitched man. With no way to tell, he could only stick to caution - he waited for the voice to pass.

Once he was satisfied it had traveled a decent distance, he stood, brushed some mud off of his trousers, helped the Princess to her feet, and continued onward at a slightly quicker pace, but otherwise behaved as if nothing had happened.

Name: Ridley O'Connell
Age: 28
Gender: Male

Appearance: He is 6’0’’ and 180 lbs..

Profession/Skills: rakehell, embezzler, pugilist, patriot

Weaponry/Armor/Notable Accessories: Wields a peculiar pistol, the underside fitted with crystallis tech, shooting heated projectiles. Also has a peculiar eyepiece, which doesn’t look like much, but the lens is actually a small matrix in the shape of a lens. Once removed, it can send small electric sparks, a crafty little disguised self-defence tool.

History: Ridley comes from minor nobility of Nalis, so never had a hard life, but it was not extravagant, either. Eventually, he got bored and decided to go abroad to enjoy life, travelling throughout Verania and Lorana.

Being a dashing nobleman, he at times could borrow large amounts of money from brokers, using fake names and made-up addresses, only to then disappear and have fun with his easy cash. He spent his time and money at pubs and fairs, or to travel everywhere he could. Contrary to his gentile appearance, he would gamble and brawl at every opportunity, and sometimes even waylay, or worse, stalk gamblers he lost to, murder them, and take back his money.

Although quite a dangerous fellow, he is also very patriotic, and would definitely join the army if a war occured in Nalis, or do anything for his country.

Other: Ridley tends to be impulsive and hotheaded. He has a Gaelic accent.
