(continued)

“I'm guessing that, simply by thinking about the artifact, then what you wish to repair, activates the relic's power. I also sense that the relic has some levitation power in it, you may be able to transfigure your broken weapons into their previous state, then levitate them back to you.” Tsakirr remarked, Gideon noticing that the bracelet swirled around the cuff of his gauntlet on its own accord, now being worn by Gideon.

When he looked up, Gideon a saw that Tsakirr had suddenly been hurled into the woods, but stopped his fall by using his psionics, body flowing with swirling blueness, and he stifled to a stop midair. Gideon spun to the side as a big shadow formed over him. Arising until it blocked the sun, was some sort of gigantic, immensely long shadowy arm, the forearm several feet thick, the fingers actually being smaller arms several feet long and ending in hands. The giant arm reared, its finger-arms spreading out, and it arched downwards to Gideon, intending to slam upon him...

Cape of Astriki

Salvatore transformed into an angelic form, and flew forth to investigate the other ship, presumably flying off Nightstar. The other ship was quite typical, and appeared to be a large dhow, about thirty feet long, having two lateen sails, and a crew of about fifty in total. On-board were a few canons at each side, and one at the front. Salvatore's angelic form cast enough light to reveal his appearance to the sailors, who did not expect to see such a thing, and they stopped whatever they were doing.

Judging by this crew's dark skin, large beards, semi-short loose-fitting trousers, loose-fitting short-sleeved shirts, sandals, and turbans, they were certainly Barbary pirates. They were equipped with scimitars and firelock muskets, but a small portion had short recurve bows instead.

These pirates intended to attack anything to take anyone as slaves, but being deeply religious, they paused at the sight of Salvatore. His light revealed him to be a white guy, so instantly, the Barbary pirates hated him and were reminded of (in their opinion) their duty to be religious warriors, who waged holy war against their foes, by enslaving people, especially children and girls to use as sex slaves, and adults for slave labour. Some slaves were probably in their ship.

Eagerness encouraged by the prospect of just a single foe, several pirates raised their guns and fired at Salvatore, shouting how great their god was.

Meanwhile, the atakebune approached the shoreline. Emily expected there to be a hatch, which was located at the front of the warship, the large door, having hinges at the top so that it would swing open forwards from behind, led to a projecting platform to allow troops to pour out.

The hatch was pushed open from behind and a few arquebusiers stepped out, the hatch immediately swinging shut afterwards, and the gunners kept an eye out. They wore karuta armour for the body, consisting of small rectangular pieces of leather laced together to form a folding armour, and the traditional jingasa, a wide-brimmed hat. They looked around and soon noticed Salvatore flying off in the distance, and at that, they (and those atop the ship) were confused.

Elsewhere, a bottle was thrown, which blew up into smoke, and some guy was sneaking around for some reason. What was he up to?

Analee

Once all that was out of the way, she decided to rinse herself in the creek. Buruk had followed her to the creek, and started lapping water, while Bane flew atop a branch to keep an eye out. Talarin did not seem to be anywhere nearby.

A while later, Analee smelled cooking food; Talarin must have came back with some game and started cooking. Buruk happily sniffed the air, tail wagging, but then whined a little, as he was still sore from being slammed down by the tree-demon. The wolf licked his side where it hurt. After Analee finished her business here, she may as well return to the camp and see what Talarin was cooking.

Miranda and Poca

These weird creatures did not seem to be responsive. Once they began circling the two ladies, Miranda let Midnight loose, the horse instinctively galloping off, breaking through the line of Darkbeasts, and then Miranda teleported with Poca away, back to Miranda's home village. Midnight would probably end going home sooner or later as well.

“My home.” Miranda answered Poca.

The village did not look too nice. Miranda noticed that a few fields and some trees had burned away some time ago, and a few homes seemed to have been vandalized.

Off in the distance, immense ruins darted across the horizon, and continued behind it; the Divided City. The Divided City was actually a series of cities connected by walls and aqueducts, but it was destroyed almost two hundred years ago by a brutal war, and then split asunder by a great earthquake.

A few villagers stopped whatever they were doing, having noticed that two people suddenly appeared in their village. The villagers looked around, trying to find some sort of explanation.

“Did they just appear out of nowhere?” one village asked, a few pigs having followed him but not caring.

“Uh, they must have just arrived?” another village remarked, a lady feeding chickens.

Several other villagers eventually noticed something amiss, a carpenter stopping sawing, a tailor stopped sewing, and the village seemed to pause. Since Miranda wore concealing clothing, the villagers had no way to recognize her, but maybe a family member or close friend would?

Poca still felt very weird from the teleporting. She repiled,"Oh ok. My name is Poca. What's your name? What's the plan now?" She was really in pain from her wounds from the battle and very hungry and thirsty. -Dances-

Analee

Once she washed herself up and cleaned out simple wounds she had received on her journey, Analee grabbed her dress and placed it back on. There wasn't really much left to it, most had been torn and ripped from fighting or while she ran in her sleep. Never the less, it was better then nothing.

A small breeze blew, bringing with it the smell of something cooking. The smell made her stomach grumble, also Buruk as well. As Buruk ages his tail out of excitement, he whimpered. "I know boy. Let's go back to camp and take care of you." She said softly to him as she took his face in her hands and gently kissed him.

Turning, Analee walked back towards the camp. "That smell wonderful" she said as she walked into the opening where Talarin was. Walking over, Analee sat down next to the fire. Buruk slowly made his way over also, laying down.

As Analee gazed at the flames, she began to remember her dream. Raising her hands, she looked at them and wondered to herself. "I wonder" she whispered, just loud enough for Talarin to hear. Looking over at Buruk, Analee placed her hands in his side and closed her eyes. Please, please, please. She thought to herself. Suddenly, she felt the power and opened her eyes to she a white light appear under hands.

Once the light faded, she drew back her hands. "Buruk" she asked, looking at him. Lifting his head, Buruk looked at her and jumped up, moving like he did once before. Her new power had worked, she healed Buruk. A smile appeared on her face as she looked at Talarin. "What are you making?" She asked, a joyful tone to her face. This was the happiest she had been on her journey.

Miranda "The Raven" Banner

Once they teleported to her home town, she released the girl and looked around. The locals had stopped what they were doing and stared at them. The girl broke the silence and introduced herself. "Yeah, just call me Raven." She whispered loud enough only for her to hear. Miranda never took her eyes off the people that stared at them. "Um there is no plan. I don't work well with others. You should be fine on your own" she told her. Reaching in her pocket, Miranda pulled out a few coins and handed to the girl then turned and walked away quickly.

Memories began to flood Miranda's mind, memories from the past. It had been years since she had last been here. She had to find somewhere to hide. The only place she could hide and be somewhat safe was her old hideout, the place where her and her childhood group lived.

Just shortly on the edge of the village was an old, run down barn. Miranda walked up to it and pushed open the door and entered.

"Don't move" a voice broke out. "You ain't got no business here!"

Miranda stood still at the voice. "Hawk?" She asked. When no one answered, she knew it was him. "It's me, Raven." After speaking, Miranda pulled down her mask and hood, revealing herself.

From atop the rafters, a man jumped down in front of her. "Miranda!" He said. The man stood just a little taller than she did. He had a 5 o'clock shadow growing. He wore dirty, torn clothing. "Is that really you!" Walking up, he placed his hands on her shoulders. "Look at ya! You grew into a mighty fine women!"

The short journey to the top of the ruins gave Gideon a brief window to see more of the landscape he had been brought into; greenery, but also the crumbled structures worn down by time that stretched on farther than he could have anticipated. His memories of the land outside of his tomb had eroded deeply over the years, this... Divided City, was not the place he had once called home. Indeed, it looked as though no soul had called it home for nearly two hundred years.

Such thoughts brought more to his mind; was it he who brought about this downfall? This... Wasteful destruction and entropy? It was a haunting idea, one the former Warlord saw fit to dismiss for the time being.

It didn't take long for him to discover the location of the artifact. Driven by instinct and old cunning the warrior felt he knew where to look, and thus he drove his fist through the dusty flooring to reveal the resting place of a strange bracelet. Claiming it Gideon quickly found his mind... Expanded, for lack of a suitable term. It hooked itself around his arm, as one would wear a bracelet, and locked itself there as if accepting him as its master. Commentary from Tsakirr followed, his fellow Unhallowed explaining his assumptions regarding what the artifact could do and how it could be activated. Magic; it was an unfamiliar feeling, but the artifact was undoubtedly magical.

Danger.

Instinct took over, driving him to spin away from where he stood and lay eyes upon his newest foe; another limb of shadow, but one far greater than the last. Gideon's maul, one moment strapped to his back, was suddenly in his hands again as practiced motions drove his hands to find it. He dove into a roll a mere second later to avoid the shadowarm's attempt to smash him into the ground, raising himself and spinning to bring the hammerhead down upon the flattened palm of the giant limb.

Whether the attack proved successful or not didn't matter. The maul, even were he to restore it, was not a weapon that would

prove effective against a foe like this. Something like this required a weapon with an edge; something that he did not have with him. The artifact was useless to him without a weapon that would work against a giant limb, one that was presumed to not have any bones to crush.

Thus Gideon was forced to retreat. He could practically sense what was going to happen and therefore released the handle of his maul, hurriedly backstepping before he turned and rushed to exit the steeple and descend back into the ruins below. There were no weapons atop the mausoleum, he knew of only one place to find any kind of weapon at all; the small stone box he called his tomb.

Analee

Indeed, her aspromancy worked, and she healed her lupine friend. Talarin smiled at how happy Analee looked, it made him feel so much better as well. Bane fluttered his wings for a moment.

“Cooking a big grouse, as always, they just stand still and do nothing. They taste good, too.” Talarin said. The campfire was simple, just enough to roast the grouse, which had already been gutted and feathered.

Beside the campfire was a small log hammered into the ground vertically, top having a slot to allow a strong stick to be placed against it diagonally while over the fire, the grouse impaled through this stick and cooking. Bane swooped down, landing on Analee's shoulder, he and Buruk eyeing the cooking food.

“It should be ready soon, feel free to eat without me, and be sure to give your pets some food, too. I'm a' also go wash myself up.” Talarin said, and then he went off to rinse in the creek as well. Did he just imply he knew Analee had washed herself?

Poca and Miranda

Well, here they were. Miranda handed Poca some coins and walked away, The Raven looking around at her hometown, though no one seemed to recognize her. No one said much, and Miranda headed for her old hideout without saying much herself. She did not seem to know that Poca watched over her while she was unconscious when the Darkbeasts arrived.

As Miranda took her leave, Poca had a strange feeling, and looked around. Was she being watched?

Later, Miranda came upon an old friend she had known since childhood, who suddenly appeared, a lad named Hawk. Who knows what'd happen next?

Wolf,
Miranda and her childhood friend(s) may consider exploring the Divided City if you wish; it was once a wealthy place, so the hopes of finding treasure may inspire them to explore it. Hawk would know that the Divided City is dangerous, as beast-folk reside there, as well as bandits, criminals, mercenaries, and who knows what else.

Having already encountered the Vaal'Amar, who also rule one half of the Divided City, she may be able to share some useful tips she learned.

Alternatively, you can simply give Miranda a break from adventuring for a while, and let her enjoy herself here or anything else for a while. Midnight will eventually trot back to Miranda, sooner or later. Note that Miranda is being watched by an agent she has not yet noticed, but possessing guile herself, she may have a funny feeling...

Annie,
Miranda took her leave; what Poca now does is up to you. She can explore the village, follow Miranda due to longing for friendship or something, continue her search for a new life (this will lead her to the Divided City), or whatever else you wish.

Regardless of what path you choose, the role-play will continue.
