"I didn't want to lose you, or hurt you any more than you family already did. I refused, in the end, because I knew you would have wanted me to stay strong, and tell the world there was nothing to be ashamed of about us."
"...hurt you any more than you>r< family already did."
Just pointing that one out.
I need a moment to articulate what I say. Words escape me in the face of something so well written.
Nobody else could have written this story. I've read things that anyone else could write. This is your story and only yours, and only you could have written it.
I know you have a tendency to depreciate the value of your own work, as all humble artists do, you see the flaws nobody else does.
You need to be told that there is no other who could have written this. It was you and you alone who can write something so remorselessly heartrending. Your bitter ending is a culmination of worldly fact, it's almost never a fairytale ending. I wish this story had simply been set in medieval times, instead of Runescape, because you could have had it published. You speak truly of human nature and the most ugly of our flaws, our judgment. How we judge, who we judge, and the standards with which we judge.
A story of misplaced innocence, foolish interference, a life wrought with pain, regret, of love forever lost, of the pivotal moment in time. You've never lost your edge when it came to writing, you've only improved.
You may not agree with me but you've always been, and will always be, leaps and bounds ahead of other writers. There is nobody who can so completely grip an audience, so weave his life into a story, and create such relatable characters.
It's a beautiful story with a flawless plot that carries you on as you beg for the ending to be a happy one, like it's the only thing you need to stay alive.
I always say you're a better writer than I am, but that's putting myself near your level, where I could compare.
To this, I cannot compare myself.

Wow, Elly, good eyes! I'll change that right away.
...And I need a moment to articulate a response to such a generous and undeserving praise...
Thank you so much, Elly, for reading this. Really, without your support I might never have stuck down to it and wrote Chapter 5 and 6. Nobody would be able to read this today, not even me. I probably would just have to give this up and accept that perhaps The Priceless would always be the unchallenged pinnacle of my writing career.
Yes, there are really quite a few flaws with this story, like the one you pointed out!
Really, it should be a crime for over-praising my work!
Is there a particular part of it that you liked? I found the 'two letters scene' difficult to write. In fact, the whole thing is difficult to write. I feel I've pushed myself quite far this time.
As always, thank you Elly. A writer is nothing without his readers. I do hope that Brotherly Love is sufficient as a compensation to my readers for not posting The Noob and The Abomination of Men. :)
P.S. And, as an older brother, Elly, how do you feel about this story? Did you have time to read the Food for Thoughts also? (I hate writing those :p)

I did read the Food for Thought.
As an older brother I could understand how much this would have hurt Edward. To just have your younger sibling toying with forces they do not understand. It's really unfortunate because you can blame them for it, I would have blamed my brother, as a person you are responsible for understanding where the line is that you do not cross. This was FAR over that line. I really dislike Ronnie as a person, but I love him as a character. He's so naive and self serving, he is borderline stupid with how he only thinks of how mad he is at his brother, and it took him one moment to ruin the lives of almost everyone in this story.
It's a very good moral, how the smallest secrets and the most arbitrary moment can have a huge impact on the future.
That's why I loved this story so much, it was very deep and true to itself, and it was never gentle with the readers, it gave us the facts of life, raw and unaltered in a way that was so bold and haunting it makes me bristle just to think about it.

Life is a fragile thing. Many insignificant coincidences could string together to form a catastrophe out of anyone's control. For example, Ronny didn't know the King had his own prejudices that would exacerbate the problem.
Yeah, well, I was never gentle with myself when it came to writing. I see a lot of myself in Ronny, in fact. That is why I find this story so very difficult to write.
