But see, your "killing it off" is as much canon as the other way because you purposefully made it affect the ship. Whether or not it randomly sprays guts and blood all over the ship matters quite a bit when it comes to character reactions. Done in by the dubious doings of destiny.

I mean as far as it no longer being a threat, you don't have to worry about it anymore. So that is why it is a win win for you guys. and I guess I never thought of it that way. Anyway, I am up to speed and we can genuinely say that the wale is dead ( I will probably make same stupid kind of mistake in a future Rp given my unintentional stubbornness, but we can put this one aside.) and let us face it, whether your character reacts to it is up to you, so you have all the power here, not me.
