Inferi,
That would definitely add to storytelling and character development. I don't think we've ever had an RP that followed that protocol, it might work well.

George,
np, we've got all the time in the world!

There was actually a roleplay with that basic premise a few years back, which I remember Fish and I both joined at the time. I can't remember who else did off the top of my head. But we made kid bios, played through a particular event as kids between 8-12, then skipped about 10 years later where new events took place and the gang came back together.

Actually, I attempted to do something similar with a roleplay some time back as well. I wanted everyone to make kid bios for a roleplay then play through a particular event, then we'd timeskip to ten years later with the crew coming together once again.
I am Inferi.

Inferi, that sounds awesome. When we submit bios, would you want the kid version or the young adult one?

Hmmm. That's actually something I hadn't thought about. Probably the kid one, and then we can work from there if someone really needs an actual bio for the continuation.

I never joined at the start, which is something I kicked myself for at the time. I won't deny that it's one of the inspirational factors to me wanting to make something like this, either.
Done in by the dubious doings of destiny.

Rainbow, last page, about WW2 media
All good points for sure. I also wish there could be more games about the First World War. Canadians under British command suffered horrifically, but Canadians proved their worth at Vimy Ridge, impressed the British enough or Canada to earn independence and sovereignty.

I also find the brutality of WW1 to be quite intriguing. But, WW2 has this stronger element of herosim and being the saviour, considering the Holocaust. My great grandparents died in Soviet concentration camps, my grandfather was almost beaten to death by Nazis, helped save Jews but also his Nazi friends who helped him during the war he later helepd save after the war. Had family members on both sides of the war. Family history really burns in me about WW2. So, I share Annie’s view that WW2 is more interesting, but in terms of military tactics and gear, WW1 is cooler.

Nevertheless, I am OK with any kind of RP!

George, this page
Ah, I clearly missed Fish’s RP there, I don’t remember it.

It seems like a neat concept to work with. Would be interesting for sure.

I shall await and see what Inferi comes up with!

Indeed, it is subjective, however, there are successful novels with bad stories, but there are not successful novels with bad characters.

This is false. There are successful novels that have bad stories and bad characters.

Ah, see, there are many successful novels without worldbuilding.

Successful doesn't mean good. Plenty of brilliant novels fall under the radar because of over-saturated genres or a general lack of interest in reading.

I'm curious: why WW1 but not WW2? What is it about the differences that makes it so much more appealing to you?

WW1 tends to be more or less overlooked, while WW2 has more or less been milked to death as a genre.

The styles of warfare were different. With WW1, most of the fighting was over trenches. With WW2, it was over cities, towns, and villages. The weaponry was different - WW1's being less advanced.

Anyway I've considered making an RP as well, but with two RPs already and potentially a third on the way, maybe it might not be the best time?

Fishing,
Successful novels with bad characters and bad stories do indeed exist, but it is subjective. I should have been clearer there for sure. Bad characters and bad stories can still be relatable, after all, that's why such novels still sell well.

Well, by the end of the day, successful seems to be good. When I watch vids by successful authors, they talk about how to make a successful novel, which seems to be synonymous to good novel. It's all about business and sales, nothing else really matters.

I hope West comes back sooner or later. These forums just aren't the same without him.

WWI was trench warfare in Europe. In Africa for example it was a highly mobile war. 3/4 of Ethiopia's population was consumed in the chaos of the war, as Ethiopia was under control of Britain. ( I think. I might need to do some edits). Africa got the short end of the stick in WWI, make no mistake; much, if not all of Africa was still being colonized by Europe, meaning they had no choice but to fight in the European conflict for their European overlords. Much of Africa ALSO was wrecked after the conflict. Just your friendly neighborhood gay boy! =)

So, what did I miss?

EDIT: Azi, your character compodium has some... very unique... character ideas. Especially with some of the rather raunchy skyrim mod armours thrown in xD

Imgur isn't really a good source for embedding pictures long-term, I think, since pictures get taken down occasionally. But it's a nice collection, I guess, and saves me looking!

Sorry Annie, I'm not posting this week. Since Azi's character is going her own way, I need to adjust plans accordingly, as I was not as prepared as I thought I was for this RP. It is salvageable. My original plan had us all adventuring together as some merry band of vampire hunters. (even though I allowed two people to be vampires). Anyway. I will be spending much of tomorrow updating the master plan for the RP Just your friendly neighborhood gay boy! =)

Rainbow, this and last page
Indeed, there was lots of trench warfare during WW1, it was quite creepy and brutal. I can only imagine the hell of having to withstand gas attacks, tanks, machine guns, bayonet charges, and constant shelling.

Also a shame what happened to Africa. So many African countries seem to get the brunt of so much suffering. It’s depressing. I wish I could save everyone.

West,
Hurray, West’s back! There are currently two active RPs, by George and Rainbow!

XD well, even the more adult-orientated images were still good quality, so I figured I’d throw them in anyways, might as well, they still count. I spent several days scouring my libraries of saved Imgur galleries and images, so figured I’d reorganize everything, though I did miss a few good images that I can’t refind. But yes, some images are pretty cool, they illustrate--as you said--unique and cool character ideas.

But yes, I noticed images get taken down once in a while, I lost so many cool characters from that. Oh well, hopefully, this gallery lasts at least a while! Overall, I think it's pretty cool, as it includes characters from original artwork, fanarts, and franchises such as Dark Souls, For Honor, Elder Scrolls, Warcraft, Dungeons and Dragons, Black Desert, and a few more I don't remember. It'll allow me to easily create RPs without having to get into so much lore, too!

Rainbow,
Oh, I did not mean to sound like Sakura would go rogue. She has no problem tagging along with the group. Although her bio’s backstory suggests she is pretty psycho, it doesn’t mean it’s permanent. There is always room for character development, after all.
