I used to be really, really socially inept, actually. Pretty much everyone I knew was online, because it was the only way I could really interact with people and be myself. But, believe it or not, when I got my first real, proper job, it changed a lot of that. I started working at Wal-Mart and got shoved out of my comfort-zone, big-time. I worked in a very team-oriented, communication-based area of the store, and I often had to help customers as well. That really broke off all of my social ineptitude, and now I can pretty much carry a conversation with anybody. Mind you, I'm borderline, schizotypal and manic depressive, so it still gets difficult at times.
You're in good company, is all I'm saying, Emo. I'd venture that a fairly good proportion of us here have had some sort of social problems, or still have them. We've all got our own burdens to bear and we all work through them, one way or another.
