Yes, all test subjects will inevitably be put into pods. Even the Collector General's test subjects will be put into pods, then used as fuel for the synthetic monster. However, as I said, I can simply go non-canon and create some other kinds of tests, there is enough content in Mass Effect to include other Reaper-based tests, one way or another.

I suspect a lot of the reaper foot soldiers we see in Mass Effect 3 were quietly prototyped by the Collectors beyond the omega 4 relay. I mean, how could they have such efficient conversions during the invasion if they didn't have a blueprint of what they were indoctrinating?

Interesting point West, but yes, presumably, there are other tests besides the Collectors' that would have gone on. I will read about the Reapers' activities and see what I can come up with.

We can assume there would be non-pod tests as well. I will think of something when I must.
