The ship has holding cells, right? Wouldn't it make more sense to have Annie locked up in one of those? Maybe she could have done something cool like etch her name or the number of days she's been there into the wall. You could also share her view on the food, how she has been treated, and any escape plans she might be working on. How is she coping with the loneliness? Does she annoy, harass, and make life difficult for the guards? Or is she quiet and avoiding any further trouble?
Assuming the ship is in fact a pirate ship, my gnome can free you in the heat of the battle.
They also don't know you have magic, so you could try that way.
Of course, I would prefer you let my gnome free you. At least that way he will have one friend when everyone inevitably finds him and beats the crap out of him.
