Have a "short" adventure at that # of posts.

If the others liked the setting enough, you create a new thread that is a direct sequel so those who want to can reuse a previous char, and others could introduce a new one if desired.
Thus could maintain some continuity while still, being new.

I'm not sure a cap is a good idea. Our roleplay conversations tend to be retroactive rather than reactive, so it can take pages to communicate a point or agree on any sort of plan. Add to that the character's speaking ability is only limited by the writer, is often written in turns and never seems to be interupted, and you begin to realise these conversations can go on for quite a while.

I think in the end, they decided no plan was best plan.

Saved the day by doing nothing?

Nah. Just wing it, bro. Plans against armed faceless mooks are pointless, since they'll never mount an effective resistance.

One of Inferi's threads died because for half of it our characters were discussing a plan, and they just talked in circles without giving any ground.

Admittedly, this was my fault for not trying to make you get going. I just liked the discussion.

Oh, Fish: Merfolk. I need age details.

Excellent, thanks.

Now, Generic magic. When you master it, do you master everything about it, since it seems to be regarded as the more simple forms, or is it part-based, like the other schools? In addition, are you limiting the uses of it to the 3 you have listed, or are there more that can be made with it?

Oh no, there's definitely more. It could also include things like waterbreathing, teleportation, scrying, detect person or item...

It's basically a catch-all school for miscellaneous spells that don't fall under the other categories.

While mastering it is definitely possible, and some people have done it, it's such a broad category with so many fundamentally different spells that actually doing so could take several decades.

Also apparently I can't count, because I said there were four types of magic but listed five.

Anyway, just to clarify further: Generic Magic is not a school, it is a class, or a type. The schools are the individual sections within the Type (ie. aeromancy and hydromancy are two completely separate schools, but fall under the same "type".)
