All points about muskets are good to talk about, though. We gotta discuss these topics to sharpen our imaginations and logic, after all. But yeah, cartridges meant that firelocks can be used even in wetter conditions. Of course, muskets sometimes won't work, such as in extremely hot temperatures, as the metal expands a bit, slightly deforming the barrel's shape and making it harder to use the ramrod or to shoot accurately.
But, performance is based on the quality of craftsmanship and the user's experience and skills, generally speaking. Speaking of magic, you don't see magical guns or magical ammo that often, hunh? In games like Mortal Kombat X and Clive Barker's Jericho, there are features of which a bullet seemingly has a mind of its own and zigzags or curves.

These could be fun, cool, and brutal features/abilities/magic in a gun-enabled RP. It may even be what this forum is missing. Of course, various other kinds of magic could be imbued, or indeed, controlling where a magical projectiles goes could work.
