I was tempted to consider a new RP with this theme. It would be like the Lost Land from Turok: a place where time has no meaning, the old and the new are mixed together, and overall it's a pretty crazy adventure with demons, giant man-eating carnivorous plants, cannibals, dinosaurs, cyborgs, ancient evil robots, insect aliens, and stuff like that. The idea of heavy armour and firearms makes sense considering giant monsters, magic, and environmental dangers like killer plants, though I don't know what should happen.
Alternatively, anyone else may have better ideas for such characters.

I reckon that idea might work, provided the armour actually worked against gunfire. Hell, I think it might be cool if the armour actually made one largely impervious to gunfire - meaning the easiest way to kill someone would be to maul them to death with an oversized blunt object.
