So, whoever screws with me the most, gets totalled, and it turned out to be the Forsworn constantly trying to kill me, so I returned the favor.

I'm not saying you were wrong to kill Madanach, but Thonar was the one who had you arrested and thrown in prison in the first place.

I'd recommend replaying Madanach's side, just to see what happens, before reverting back to your Thonar-save.

To be fair, I never really got why someone would want to kill Madanach. It isn’t personal, and if anything, letting him loose on the city is the biggest insurance policy against them ever screwing you over again.

Well, I mean, besides beating on the Jarl. But we can't all be greatsword masters now, can we?

Hagraven, ah, hag-raven, that's what the word is! I thought it was "ha-graven" and didn't quite get it. If they turn their women into those weird things, they deserve to die.

They're volunteers.

1. It doesn't really make sense if you help him escape. You help him murder dozens of guards and yet you're still allowed to freely roam the city afterwards. Citizens will even comment fearfully on what you did. Whereas if you help Thonar, the entire city is in awe of you.

2. He's the leader of a violent terrorist group that is ultimately responsible for more deaths than Thonar himself.

3. The majority of the Forsworn still attack you afterwards.

4. I usually just kill Thonar after he clears my name. Then I give Markarth to the Stormcloaks in Season Unending, and retake it for the Empire, causing Thongvor Silver-Blood to be exiled to Windhelm. Boom, Clan Silver-Blood has ended, and the Forsworn are leaderless - two severe problems dealt with.

5. On playthroughs where I don't betray the person I sided with: I'd rather be allied with a mob boss than a hill-dwelling savage.

Now I just need to deal with the cannibals, the Daedric Shrine, the massive underground settlement of Falmer, the Thalmor, and Jarl Igmund's incompetence.

NotFishing,
Of course, and you're right, Thonar was the one who wanted to send Demonica to life in prison, but everyone knows the hero gets through everything.

Maybe, we'll see if I replay the quest, if there's an available auto save for it. Funnily enough, I've only used I think four saves so far, I almost always use quick save.

West,
Well, I don't like Madanach, and he tried to kill me, so I returned the favor. I'd have no problem killing Thonar, too, but then how will I sell all my stuff in the town? Or, maybe there's a way to kill both of them, and end the quest without actually being a criminal.

NotFishing,
Oh, so hagraven are volunteers, nvm.

Sounds like a pretty complex quest indeed. But, the people were being murdered by the Forsworn, so it makes sense to protect the citizenry against the terrorists. I understand that the Forsworn are the natives, but they are not good guys to begin with, and since they resort to constant raiding, they in turn must be raided.

Annie,
There isn't enough content to work on without the Arbiter or the Covenant. Though, since your post isn't detailed in what you want to do, you could edit your existing post and extend it, or add another if you want, it wouldn't bother me.
