Paracosm, huh? :P Well, as you can probably tell, I could never dedicate myself to a single world for a long period of time (at least, not without an enthusiastic co-author to keep me in check). That is very definition of limiting, at least in my opinion.

Looking back, many of my favourite authors rarely describe any of the fields we look for in a post or Bio (often only acknowledging many of the sections in a single sentence, or over time during conversations). As such, I tend to want to lean away from descriptive writing - which irritates me to no end when my Roleplay posts always end up much longer than I intend.

My favourite genre of writing is actually crack fiction, the scourge of the internet. I’ve always subscribed to the idea that if something can be so bad, idiotic and unorigional, it can actually become amazing.

Yes, paracosm: my lifelong created worlds I started when I was a little kid. Hard to shrug off.
I don't blame you for it, West, most people can't worry about it anyways. But it's their choice. Focus within boundaries seems to be what works best for most.

Yeah, professional writing isn't really about a text-based adventure, but rather fruity language with flowery elements, two things I rather dislike. I want to create an adventure to explore with storytelling, and create scenes and imagery, not talk about nothing with brevity. Most people dislike descriptive writing, so you're not alone, West, it's understandable. I tend to like longer posts, tho.

Crack fiction can be really fun. Mortal Kombat is a good example. It still has bad writing and isn't anything original, but the characters are so awesome that everything else doesn't matter. It's not about being excellent, it's about being awesome.

I never watched Game of Thrones, either. I was never into TV shows or series. I was actually never into movies or cartoons in general, but I always liked Alien, Hellraiser, and The Thing. Maybe I'm a bit of a dick for saying this, but I always preferred my own stories over TV and movies, but also game franchises such as Legend of Zelda, Bioshock, Dark Souls, Total War, and Nintendo 64 games (I still play these) really blew me away.

Oh, and Annie, I started the next turn in Omega, but I suddenly became tired. I might have to go to bed early. Won't be able to post tonight.

I disagree with this wholeheartedly; the meat of a story isn't established by the rosy description of a room's ornate doorknob before moving onto the nice fur rug, but by the actions, experience, thoughts, feelings, sensations and relations of the characters in your setting, and how they relate to the reader. If nobody stops to marvel at the doorknob or the guy sneezing across the room, why would an author bother to include it?

I think a well described picture doesn't necessarily have to contain many words, because the reader has already experienced it, or has the experience to imagine your scene with the correct prompts. That is, assuming your readers aren't complete idiots, and your picture doesn't come completely out of left field.

Some details will naturally be lost when translated into writing, and I believe it's the author's job to preserve the crucial detail. This is why I am fascinated by mediums such as screen plays, games or Animation - you can not only preserve but enhance the original ideas of your writing through the use of music and/or visual motifs.

But at the end of the day...
