Ah yes, a rosy doorknob isn't very important. However, in traditional publishing, there seems to be lots of room for 'wordsmithing', and these are the novels that become winners with various labels. Reputation is also important. The world's quite tribal like that. But ya, as you quoted me, it's about being awesome.
