Well, that should be easy enough, though if he recalled correctly, the door leading outside was locked, right?
I don't think this'll actually change anything in the latter half of the post, but the door out of the lounge isn't locked. It was the door leading out onto the outer deck that was locked, and that's where the gunmen are currently advancing from.

I FINALLY FOUND IT! But... I feel this map raises more problems than it solves!
If Bridgett climbed up those stairs, wouldn't it give her a straight shot into the bridge? This would also mean any passengers trying to flee the attack down those stairs would have to run TOWARDS the source of the commotion on the bridge (rather than flee onto the outer deck) - which I find a little weird.

The stairs don't face towards the bridge, they face outward toward the entrance to the outer deck. The commotion isn't on the bridge, but on the same deck. Basically, where the arrows in the drawing are are where the stairs start/end. That make any sense?
