To someone trained in military matters like Bridgett, she would be able to tell that the gunfire had been made by military-grade rifles. They were crystallis tech as well; the old rifles were much louder and made a distinct noise that was not present here. Although that didn’t give her any clues as to who might be firing, it did tell her something important: the ship was clearly under attack. Done in by the dubious doings of destiny.

Annie tried to see what Chloe gave to the other woman and tried to understand what they was talking about. The thunder storm was making her a little nervous because she's this ship would crash. She looked out the window and saw a black military-class airship flying next to their ship. Seeing that ship made her more nervous but ready to fight if needed. -Dances-

"Black" Benjamin Carter

Books? Who would ever talk about books? Though, people with great interest in literary projects often had interesting stories. Ben kept walking around and drinking casually; he preferred to be proactive. Or, maybe he was just a little delirious from his drink?

* * *

Sometime later, some girl came, speaking to some other girl, about something, some thing Ben would never care about. Apparently, there was another ship out in the skies, but Ben did not notice, and even if he did, he wouldn't care. Then, distant gunfire sounded, and Ben immediately paused midstep, took another sip of his drink, and waited patiently.

“Shit.” Ben remarked quietly. His revolvers were left back in... uh, where? They were temporarily kept away, obviously, and he did not remember where. He looked around, took another drink of his whisky, then...

Bridgett - Deck 3

“Earship! Look! It’s a Earship!”

“No, doofus. Airsheep. It’s an Airsheep. AIIIIIRRRR SHEEEEP. Get it?”

“Oh! Yeah! Like those things that go baa?”

“Duh.”

Bridgett repressed the urge to look up, and barely supressed a grin. Several of the brats had commandeered the absent seats in front of her for the past half an hour, happily babbling away nonsense while clambering atop each other for better views out of the porthole. While the other passengers gave them dirty looks, Bridgett didn’t mind their games. If anything, she empathised with them. Everyone else was spending the tip “enjoying themselves” in cramped seats, oblivious to the black silhouette in the drip-stained grey soup.

Bridgett sighed. Something weird was going on here, starting with that delivery lady. People didn’t just fork out the funds for an airship-to-airship delivery willingly, even on a fine day. And in a storm like this…? Well, maybe the military could do it, but that was because they could afford repairs.

Bridgett shook her head. She had better things to do than eavesdrop on kids for the entire trip. No, she still had to find one particular child and bring him ho-

Bridgett’s ear twitched, instinctively ducking her head below the seat line. “GET DOWN!”, she yelled, as a series of reports pounded the room.

Staying still for several seconds, she was confident there were no bullets flying through the lobby. That was about as far as the good news extended, however. The sound came from upstairs, ruling out the possibility of a mechanical failure. Hell, it didn’t even sound like a mechanical failure. That report was too similar to that of a firearm, and not just any firearm. It sounded too refined to be gunpowder, or even your run of the mill Crysallis rifle…

A chill ran up Bridgett’s spine. What the crew thinking, discharging military grade rifles so near the bridge?

“Geez, overreaction much?” A child peered down over the seat towards her, apparently unfazed by the goings on upstairs, or the growing unease in the room. “And you’re wearing armour and everything! What’s with tha- URGH – MOM”

Okay, now that brat was beginning to become a little much. Lifting herself back to her seat, she tried not to pay attention to the boy’s parent’s attempts at pacifying their unruly child. She could hear the person in the seat behind her mutter, “about time…”

Okay. This wasn’t helping. And the people who were supposed to be helping clearly weren’t doing their jobs. A quick glance around the room revealed an absence of cabin attendants. If this kept up, people would panic. Hell. People were panicking. SHE was panicking, for good reason.

Rising to her feet, Bridgett felt a little better. She felt more in confident, more in control. And she intended to give the captain of this fine vessel a piece of her mind.

“EVERYONE!”, Bridgett announced confidently to any who would listen, “I’m going upstairs to find an attendant. I’m sure someone will patch this up shortly.”

Gareth Arenar

Gareth was buried deep in his book, more or less ignoring the conversation between the writer and whoever that guy was, as well as the other discussion between whoever those two women were. It wasn't his business.

It took gunfire to get him to finally look up from his reading material. His eyebrows furrowed in confusion and mild annoyance, and he looked around as he rose to his feet. It could be a highjacking. Which made him wonder if there was some sort of scam underway. Had the Captain worked out a deal with some weird sky pirates or something, and they were actually the ones firing the shots? Or had they simply tricked the Captain into letting them on board.

No, that didn't appear to make sense either way, because one of the strangers who boarded them was here right now. She was unarmed and seemed just as oblivious to the situation as anyone else. But Gareth had not seen the military ship, and thus had no way of knowing why shots were being fired. That left him with one uninformed - but still extremely valid - question.

He snapped his book shut and crossed the room in brisk strides. "Who are you?" He demanded to the two women. His voice was calm and level, but the glare on his face clearly showed his suspicion.

Lounge

Wordlessly moving her lips for a moment after Gareth asked his question, Chloe stopped for a moment, shutting her eyes and taking a very deep breath. When she opened them again, the panic was still there, but it no longer looked like it was fully in control. Her voice, however, was still very shaky, and the way she shrank back from Gareth indicated that she wasn’t exactly comfortable with the way he was looking at her, although it could also just be the nerves that had been clearly present the entire time. She also spoke faster than usual, that being the obvious product of said nerves.

I’m Chloe. Chloe Senia. From the Senia Central Courier Agency. I’m, um, we’re, here to pick…

At this point, her voice trailed off, and she looked over at the other girl. With a sad sigh, and in a voice that was still quite a bit more composed than Chloe - which would likely be considered surprising given what she was about to say - she spoke up.

They are here to pick me up, as is the paramilitary group who just shot their way through the door upstairs.
” she told him, giving a motion to Chloe - who had opened her mouth in what looked like an attempt to tell Alicia to stop - that amounted to “it’s alright”. With a shrug, Chloe shut her mouth, and Alicia continued.

My name is Alicia Niere Ceris, third child of His Majesty Darian Ceris of Verania.
” she told Gareth. On the other side of the room, one of the card players perked up, looking over in surprise, and by the window, Talia raised an eyebrow but did little else. If Alicia noticed or cared, she didn’t show it, instead just continuing to talk. Her voice was quite a bit steadier than one might expect of someone in her position, but to those of noble families who placed stock in making sure they acted properly it was clear enough that she was only speaking as such because she had probably been taught to do so all the time.

I do not know the identity of those upstairs, but it seems that their purpose here is to abduct me. Given that I am of what you may consider an enemy nation, I would understand if you did nothing, or if you chose to attempt to ally yourself with the attackers. Even so, I must ask for any assistance you may offer, even though I do not wish for any of you to risk your lives in my defense.

As for Black Ben, if he put thought into it, he would realize that the crew had informed everyone carrying weapons that they would be stored in the cargo bay down on deck one. The trip from the lounge to there would be outside, down the stairs, and then across the catwalk and down the stairs again. Of course, once he was there, he would have to find the weapons himself, unless there happened to be a crew member around that knew where exactly they were being kept for the duration of the travel.

There also wasn’t any way for him to know if he would run into any trouble on the way there, as the lounge door was shut and it was difficult to hear too much through it.

Deck 2

As Bridgett made her way towards the staircase, the silence that had followed the gunshots from upstairs began giving way to the sound of voices. It wasn’t clear what, if anything, was being said, but from what she could hear at the base of the stairs it sounded quite a bit like people were heavily panicking up on that deck. Those sounds were confirmed, at least in part, by the sudden appearance of several passengers scrambling down the stairs and onto deck 2, wide-eyed and fearful as they rushed past Bridgett and onto the more expansive floor of the deck.

As she had approached the stairs, there were several more gunshots, these sounding a bit closer to the stairs than the previous ones had. From the deck below, there was no indication of what was being fired at, and the sound of footsteps from those descending as well as whoever was still up there made it difficult to get an accurate read on the situation.

If she chose to still go up, or even just to ascend enough to see what was on the next deck up, it would be clear very quickly that something was very wrong. Most of the deck wasn’t visible, as it was covered in a dense cloud of smoke, and within the smoke she could see a few faintly moving figures. They were far enough back that she couldn’t make out much, but they were in the middle area of the deck, not on the seats.

What was clearer, though, was the body in the center of the deck outside of the smokescreen. Whoever it had been was clearly dead now, the multiple bullet injuries and the pool of blood under them a large indication of that. What was a little less clear, but would be able to be seen if looked at a bit closer, would be that whoever it had been was wearing a similar uniform to what the girl who had gone into the lounge had been wearing. He, for the person had been male, also had a silver handgun lying on the floor next to him.

If she stayed there for a moment, she would see that the figures in the smoke were moving forward. They had not reached the edge of the cloud yet, but they would very soon.

Annie was shock what she just learned. She said in a brave voice,"My name is Annie Wells. I will help to keep everyone safe. Why do they want to kidnap you?" She was ready to fight if needed to. -Dances-
