I actually saw a good manga recently that had this sort of premise. They did have action, dragons and army-rending magic that everyone seemed reluctant to consider using, but most of the intrigue was in the planning and plotting of how a young count from the boonies could uncover a coup against the sickly king by his most trusted advisors.

By rule of thumb, I tend to think of plots of succession as folly. But, some people seem really into such plots. *shrugs*

I guess my opinion could change, but I would have to say it's not my thing. Which is weird, considering that I actually do want to see a chat-driven roleplay.
