EDIT: I'm going to post on titano soon, but I imagine Shirley is going to have to be left behind. While portrayed as a simple "paperweight", I'm 99.98% sure that the Kataphrakt's cover fire is preventing the less distracted Chaos Marines from getting a clear shot.
The question is, what happens afterwards? I'm getting some bad Halo: Reach vibes here...
After, I will attempt to merge Shirley with the others fighting the Warp-based enemies. This will lean towards the Warhammer universe more, as I've never played Halo Reach. Maybe, it'll turn out similar, though, who knows?
In Halo Reach, Noble Six (the main character) was pretty much abandoned with no resources at the end of the game. They try regrouping with allied forces hours after the final mission, only to find they're all dead.
Instead of doing the logical thing and hiding, the guy decides... "screw it, it's not like I have anything left to live for anyway", and just starts a huge brawl to the death in the middle of covernant controlled space. Thus begins the "ending" mission, called Lone Wolf - where you run and gun until you're overwhelmed and die.
So... it's not an ideal ending you hope to aim for. At least, not with a character you like.

I'm pretty sure those Brutes could do some ugly things to the Sleipnir, if they could get close enough. Would have to be pretty unlucky for that to happen though!
