Why was he following Gwen? Well, perhaps the Pharaonic relic that summoned her in her ghostly form left something in her, attracting Pharaonic entities to her. Perhaps he mistook her for a queen or Pharaoh's daughter?
I wonder how annoyed Gwen might be if the mummy admitted to thinking she were a Pharaoh. I mean, the guys in the hieroglyphic paintings look so effeminate (minus the beards).

but I made it with the full knowledge that it probably won’t be accepted.
((Accepted.))
You know, even though I'm kinda shocked it doesn't really surprise me. I bet you did this just so I have to follow through with it, didn't you?
Done in by the dubious doings of destiny.
I consider this payback to Angel for Joric's shield.
Unless you and Angel had already discussed this beforehand in a conversation I did not see. In that case, meh.
Either way, have fun. Though you probably won't be following Kyve around on every single job. I'll write in a daycare he can
abandon
leave you in.

Beneath the gold, the Bitter Steel.
... Awkward moment when you wonder how a thread with an age cap of 12 would turn out. Worse still, if your child character found themselves in a fantasy world in which they would soon be exploited as a (possibly super-powered) child soldier to fight against goblin hoards for lunch money.
