Actually... from my reading, there was sacred fire magic and earth magic. Only, nobody knows how to teach sacred fire magic (with almost everyone who could being dead), and obtaining earth magic immediately turns you into an enemy of humanity.

I might be wrong though.

Though, to be fair, given the setting, I'm not sure why we're given the option to use magic in the first place. One of them we're not allowed to use, and another is lost to time.

Of the magiks that are viable, one requires years of enlightenment (which makes me think of characters like Iroh from Avatar: The Last Airbender, or the Greybeards from Skyrim), while the other likely requires primal savagery (which, again, requires a more savage character).

I will reread the thread again. Original message details are unavailable.
People cannot be forced to eat dirt, it wll do nothing to them) are forever bound to the Underking, their body corrupted and personality changed, but in exchange they receive foul magical powers that grant them control over the earth. Even more sickening however is their power to pack dirt into corpses, raising them as undead servants. You may not be a Witch.

Then there is the magic taught to the Paladins by the Brightlord Himself. Their magic grants them control over holy light and sacred flame, harnessing the power of their smouldering core to defend the weak and smite evil. The power of the light allows them to create protective barriers, blinding lights and even delve into the art of healing grievous wounds. On the other hand the magic of the flame is used to burn away corruption and evil, unleashing fireballs, conflagarations, the greatest weakness of Witches and their dirt-packed servants. However, harnessing one's core requires great discipline and training - less you involuntarily combust. The knowledge of teaching this magic was lost with the destruction of the Paladin fortress... Yet, perhaps there is still someone who knows the secrets.

OK, I think I see now. So, 'earth magic' is basically necromancy and control of the earth, but this is against the rules I think. And, fire magic is Paladin-based, and I think there's a rule there's only one Paladin thus far. So, Annie cannot be a Paladin, and so not have fire magic, and she cannot have had eaten dirt, thus has no control of the earth or necromancy.

Annie,

Earth Magic:

Original message details are unavailable.
The first kind of magic the world has known is that gained through eating dirt, the simplest and most damning of ways to gain power. Those who willingly eat dirt are forever bound to the Underking, their body corrupted and personality changed, but in exchange they receive foul magical powers that grant them control over the earth.

Original message details are unavailable.
~RULES~

3: Do NOT eat dirt.

Fire Magic:

Original message details are unavailable.
However, harnessing one's core requires great discipline and training - less you involuntarily combust. The knowledge of teaching this magic was lost with the destruction of the Paladin fortress... Yet, perhaps there is still someone who knows the secrets.

These are the reasons why you can't have Earth Magic or Fire Magic, and why you should actually read the thread before you post a bio.

So, does anyone here watch Game of Thrones?

Because Euron Greyjoy was awesome. He singlehandedly killed two of the most hated characters in the entire series, had his men capture two more, and also personally captured his greatest rival. Also, he may or may not have been wearing a suit of Valyrian steal armor - the show has yet to actually specify whether or not he has the same equipment as his book counterpart. I haven't actually read the book, but I've read about it, weirdly enough.

You're forgetting the one that requires you to sell your soul to the secondary antagonist.

We aren't the Dragonborn, that shit has consequences. :P

Still, I'm not particularly fond of a "stealth" orientated ability in this setting. While they work great on human targets, Humans are (supposedly) on the losing end of the stick. Because of the condition that we can't be witches, I presume our characters WANT humanity to survive in some way, shape or form.

Do the roleplayers pick the blessings the wraith gives them, or are the terms stipulated later?

If a player pledges themselves to the Wraith they automatically get pretty strong shadow magic, because it'd be pretty shitty if you got nothing but night vision.

Does shadow magic pretty much encompass what an Illusion-Sneak-Thief can do in skyrim, or is there more to it?
