They exist, and are called Mobile Armours. The Mobile Armours on Gundam IBO are particularly vicious - they're automated beam spammers with the ability to create maintenance bots, and are smart enough to be able to refuel their own power plant. Essentially, they're giant murderbots designed to wipe out entire civilian populations - and almost drove the human race extinct.

I think that’s the reason why AI or Drone Control is outlawed in that series, but that’s just speculation on my part.

Hacking would help, I think.

Uh-oh, and only another military can counter another military. Not sure why they'd want to kill entire cities, but it does happen in real-life wars. Saddam Hussein bombed a city to ashes, and during World War 2, Dresden (I think) was nearly bombed to nothingness.

Anyways, evening is quite dark. It's just 3 PM but it's almost as dark as nightfall. The sky and air is smoky, it now has a baize tinge, and even indoors smells like smoke. 100 Mile House was evacuated, and some parts of Williams Lake and Kamloops as well. Good thing Canada gave a terrorist ten million dollars, because we obviously didn't need that money combating over two hundred wildfires destroying homes, hospitals, Native American reserves, and killing the elderly.

Because those cities contain factories or military bases, and are connected to major transport routes. They also have thousands (if not millions) of potential recruits/conscripts for the enemy army. So you're basically crippling both their infrastructure and manpower.

Also, it deals a catastrophic blow to civilian morale, because now those civilians know they can be annihilated at any time, so they're going to want the war to stop, but if the government doesn't want to stop the war then they're basically saying they don't care about their own civilians, which makes the civilians pissed.

Lastly, the military exists to defend the nation's people (in an ideal nation, at least - if not the people, then the government, but the government is nothing without the people.) By wiping out the people, you are effectively rendering the military's role obsolete, and taking away everything they are fighting for.

That's the justification for it if you don't care about basic morality. People who are pure evil could also just do it for the lolz. If you're actually a decent person, then it can never be justified unless it's somehow for the greater good, but even then most decent people would still refuse to do it.

You're forgetting the most obvious examples - Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

All good points, NotFishing, I can definitely learn from you. I didn't know much about the anime though, so I was trying to maintain correlation to it, in regards to real-world examples. But ya, some psychopathic leaders can just kill, because why not? I don't know if Gundam has nuclear warfare, but yes, Hiroshima and Nagasaki are the best examples I completely forgot about, curiously enough. I'd be too soft-hearted to initiate destruction amidst citizenry. But, all's fair in love and war, unfortunately. Why can't life be so much easier?

Oh, and there are now wildfires in USA, such as California. Kinda creepy that only yesterday, there were just about 80 wildfires in British Columbia, now there's over two hundred.

...speaking of which, if there was a big war, igniting forests would probably do more damage than bombs. Hindering civilians, soldiers, and firefighters, a brutal combo.

An evacuation alert has just been issued for my town. It's just an alert, but this is how it starts. If I suddenly disappear, it's either because wildfires took out electricity/internet, or I had to evacuate.

Dresden was firebombed in WWII, Azi. It caused more deaths than any single bombing in WWII, Including Hiroshima and Nagasaki. =) Death tolls went up to 100,000. The Firebombing of Tokyo was also had some significant death tolls.
Just your friendly neighborhood gay boy! =)
