See, I don't feel as though those are bad reasons for what happened. All it takes is a bad start to a childhood to make someone hate something, and hate is one hell of a lot easier to keep going with than anything else, especially if the kid gets caught up in the wrong crowd. This is, admittedly, an extreme example of something like that, but since it happens in real life all the time I don't see why the reasoning behind it is so bothersome.

Also, what jedi? There aren't any. Like, that's one of the big points. There's no jedi around anymore, and even if there were, why would a kid listen to them?

Sorry if I'm going on with this rant about a franchise I actually know little about, but I have been put off by bad experiences with Star Wars and for some reason I just don't like Kylo. I just don't like him. He just sounds....I don't like him.

Also, Jedi are supposed to be the heroes. How can a kid not want to listen to a hero?

They won't listen because they're a kid, and a kid doesn't want to listen about something they're mad about. This is even more true if they're being rebellious, which very much seemed to be the case.

And I'm not judging you for the dislike. There's plenty I don't like, particularly about the prequels - the third in particular - and the way they screwed up the transformation in a way that infuriated me.

I'm talking about Kylo.

And I saw in the Wiki that he was training with Luke.

Which is actually another reason not to listen. They're related, which doesn't solve the family problem. It would really have to be someone from outside the family, which isn't presented here.

I only played the first two Halo games, Halo 3 I think I played in multiplayer for an hour or two with a few of my brother's friends, years ago.

If either of you want to get caught up on the series, I would recommend checking out The Master Chief Collection. The first four Halo games for $40, including the remastered versions of 1 and 2. The install size is a nightmare, and the multiplayer is downright broken, but the campaigns are functioning perfectly and it's nice to have them all in one place.

It seems nobody is fond of angsty teen architypes; if you're not a cold sociopath, you're appariantly just not cut out to be a villain.

I think the problem is that Kylo is a cold sociopath AND an angsty teen. He carelessly orders the death of that one village, and watches Starkiller base destroy all those planets. The only thing he actually seems to regret is killing his father.

I mean, he's not a bad villain, but he isn't a good one either. He wants to be good, he didn't want to kill his father, so why did he go and do that? Why does he want to be evil? You want to rebel against your father? Fine. Do so in a way that doesn't destroy planets.

Are the rest of the Sith like that? I only hope the original movies actually live up to the classic template.

In the prequels, Anakin was all angsty over his wife and future-children. And the Star Wars universe is full of stories of people turning Sith either out of a drive for vengeance or a desperation to save the people close to them. The Dark Side is literally fueled by emotion, so it's only natural that most of the Sith are going to have a great deal of angst, sadism, or repressed rage.

Well my character is not going to be brain washed to go on the Darkside

You don't need to be brainwashed. You just need to be in a time of emotional instability.
