Frankly, I'm fine with powers being chosen for us so long as the powers end up being something that can, you know, become stronger.
Invisibility was great and all, but it can't exactly get much better than "you can't see me".
If you could turn inanimate objects invisible (ie knives, walls, buildings, the floor), that could be quite strong.

I'm also not sure I'll be able to pick the right powers for everyone, should we follow the same mechanic (I sure as hell didn't know what to do with Heat/Cold manipulation until I encountered The Fourth Wave in Needless - something Inferi probably wouldn't have allowed...
)
Meh, other people had more powerful abilities if they mastered them, so I probably wouldn't have minded.
You tended to give secondary support abilities to everyone, if I remember correctly.
Depends on how you view them, really. If you think they were secondary support, then sure, they were. However, abilities like that are a lot more useful than people think, at least in my eyes.
Done in by the dubious doings of destiny.
There's no doubt the powers were useful, they just don't fall under the category of "we can go toe to toe with some kind of bad guy", so it's like a feeling of "oh, so we can't be the big hero except in a specific set of circumstances that allow us to free the other so they can do the heavy lifting".
I am Inferi.

In a nutshell, yes.
Creators don't like to admit that even protagonists are also sideshows in other peoples lives.

I guess the problem is that everyone has to be flashy. If it's not flashy, it's not a protagonist. I personally disagree with your assessment that you didn't have protagonist abilities, and I also vehemently object to the fact that you think I was going to make you the sideshow.
