However, the bigger problem I had with him was that I didn't know how magic functioned in your world and how he fit into that equation. I also feel as if he had a rather vague "spell list," but I don't really know if that's even how magic works in Engelain.
Another thought was that while I originally wrote him to be weak, I feel he was too underpowered. While this is to be expected due to some characters having lived through 2 previous threads, I felt like a literal adventuring newbie would be entirely out of his league and out of place in a party of seasoned adventurers. Depending on how much time has passed since the beginning of the thread and how much more powerful the other characters have gotten, he could become a touch stronger.
Well, the short answer is that magic behaves however you want it to. There are various branches and studies, and various ways of tapping into it. Some people are born magically gifted and can force it out of them in great waves, some draw arcane runes and pentagrams, some read out of spell books or use totems and rituals, some have staves and wands that do the trick. I like my magic undefined, so that it can accommodate for any number of magical uses.
If you google Engelain Wiki, you'll find there's a page on magic there, though I'm not sure how much more information it'll actually give you.
And the power levels of characters varies on the thread, from your run-of-the-mill newbie to monstrous horrors from the depths of time and the avatars of gods, and everything in between. I'd say what potential power you give your character should depend on the group you're planning on putting them with. Generally, the evil group is full of experts, the group with the ogres are way out of their depth and the group fighting the hags are somewhere in between.

Lowkey I like how Cirion talks, he actually sounds like a dignified and noble Elf hero.
I agree, his syntax is great. I'm generally juggling so many characters that they all end up without their personality until a post is needed to focus on their characterisation specifically. Cirion does have some good vibes about him.

Also, I appreciate Sileo's honesty in the matters of what he signed up for. I am sure I can supply some gratuitous violence soon enough.
I can't supply violence, but I can supply gratuitous something else if ya know what I mean*
(A)(*)(i), just so you know I'm waiting for you to go first on ITF. I wanted to see Spirry's response to the attack before I write anything for Kat.

You can only inflict so much pain and suffering upon others, but there is always more money to be made, especially if you look cool while making it.

I was using pink to illustrate the elves that attacked the crew since it's the Trahaearn clan's colour and they built the Serenist ships and mecha, and grey to show Icthlarin talking. From what I've seen in forums (I started in the Lore forum) people have been using blue for Saradomin, red for Zammy etc.
The Lore Forums doesn't seem to be getting much new lore lately, from brief glances. I'm guessing the quest problem for Runescape hasn't improved? It's a shame, I really liked reading what was happening over there.
The current theme over there is screeching about Zamorak. I'm honestly questioning the sanity of some of the people who defend him.
I know the feeling. I mean, Zamorak has done a good thing in helping Moia (helping abused children is a noble thing no matter what else Zamorak has done), and there may be decent intentions in a philosophy that arose from his own culture, but that doesn't instantly make him perfect. Funnily enough, I believe that Saradomin had derived his own philosophy and personality from his upbringing on Teragard. It's said to be a cold place in temperature and temperament, where everyone was self-superior. Here's a preaching from his holy book which I've been thinking about.
"The currency of goodness is honour; it retains its value through scarcity. This is Saradomin's wisdom."
This, along with his rash behaviour and past as evidenced in DoC and other events, suggests that few people were honourable in his mortal life, and he could have admired the good people who were there when he was a kid. This would have inspired him to try and do good things, while growing up around Teragardian culture may have shown him bad things.
