Still shocked were Truand and Dief “What’re the odds the only man willing to fight me, would be her brother?”

“I guess about the same as a blind fighting expert?” Truand grinned.

“If you lose your vision, you’ll very quickly learn to live without it, or you’ll be a worthless vegetable for the rest of your life. I took the first option. Dief, make yourself useful, find me some red wine.”

“Yes sir...” Dief sighed and went to search for his 'masters’ favorite drink. This just wasn’t fair he thought. A blind man had won the beautiful girl, was in charge of the strongest gang in Varrock, he was rich, a world class warrior... The list went on endlessly... and he was blind! Dief thought hard, just what in the world was he doing wrong? He had two perfectly good eyes, and had achieved much less than his blind leader.

“So...” Johnny coughed “just what’s going on anyway? What’re you trying to do?”

“Why would I tell you?” Elder laughed.

“Would it hurt to tell him?” she asked and batted her eyelashes. He grunted.

“I won’t explain it here, perhaps during dinner...”

“Okay, but only if the girl in the pretty robes can come too.” he pointed to Azura, who by now was a nervous wreck.

“No.* was his stern reply.

“Then I’m not going to dine with you.”

“Please...?” she begged, and put her arms around him.

“You’re killing me, woman.” he began to think if it’d actually be much of a problem to do this for her.

“I heard men discussing something out here, what is going on?” Ko asked, he had been spending his time reading up on various subjects.

“Ko?” Azura shouted softly.

“Azura?” he gasped.

“Oh for gods sake!” Elder snatched his red wine from Dief, and downed the entire glass in one go.

“Well we cannot leave her tied up like an animal, she... was a friend of mine.” Ko wasn’t exactly sympathetic, but he knew Azura was simply a harmless young woman who wasn’t a threat at all, and she was pretty to look at. He saw no reason why he shouldn’t bring her inside the Palace.

Elder began to think if these two could cause any problems, but ultimately felt like there simply wasn’t much they could do, this shouldn’t cause any problems for him.

“Fine.” Elder said clearly “Bring them to dinner this evening if you wish.” he turned and left the courtyard without another word.

“Elder sir!” a sweating, exhausted looking man panted.

“What is it?” the man held up his finger, and tried to catch his breath.

“They...”

“I do not have all day.”

“They were killed!” he gasped out.

“Barbarians were slaughtered as expected, no surprise there soldier. Carry on.” he began walking away.

“No, the attack force was killed! Everyone of them!” Elder thought for several minutes in silence, before giggling.

“It’s fine soldier, we’ll just need a bigger sacrifice next time won’t we?” he chuckled “Inform Kopf to meet me in my quarters.”

“Aye sir!” his servant jogged away.

The group sat together around a fire, eating a small lunch and generally just trying to pass the time.

“So buddy, where ya from?” Forrest asked Moric.

“I was born in Ardounge.” he wished their rations were larger, but due to the influx of population in their relatively small village, the rather kindly behaving barbarians had went to work baking to help keep everyone fed. Half a loaf for breakfast, quarter of a loaf for lunch, full loaf with some meat for dinner.

“Good city, I visit once.” Anastasia distracted from her still present hunger with some vodka.

“Met a girl there.” Forrest shrugged.

“It’s great in the East side of town, but the entire West side of the city is apparently being ripped apart by a plague. I don’t even like to get near the walls that support the quarantine.” he visibly shivered.

“So any idea why Varrock was the only place chosen for this attack?” Caden asked out of bored curiosity. Anastasia laughed.

“Did you not listen to Eckhard? Any where by a water source is being attacked. The karamthulhu need water, as we saw, they float more soldiers by water too.”

“What now?* Forrest was suddenly wide eyed “Rellekka is right by goddamn water!” he seemed overwhelmed with worry.

“Oh damn!”

“He’s right!” the brothers decided they were needed back home more than they were in Varrock, and stood. “Forret man, we’ll make sure Dalla is alright.” Aiden assured him.

“Where are you two going?” Lowe asked with a laugh.

“Three, you three I’m going too.” Forrest gathered up his few things and stood with the brothers.

“We need you here though.” Anastasia arched her eyebrow. Moric simply remained quiet, he did*’t feel as if he knew any of them well enough to get involved in an argument.

“Are any of you honestly worried about Rellekka?” Lowe asked, getting everyone’s attention “You’re concerned about the fate of a town where everyone is practiced in combat, Forrest did you not tell me Dalla’s warrior father taught her how to fight with weapons?” Forrest seemed to relax slightly.

“But man,”

“She will be fine.” Anastasia added in. He sighed and sat back down, though he appeared to be very uneasy now.

“Are you two still going?” Forrest asked as he slowly ate his bread.
“Well thanks to Lowe and his damn words I guess not.* Aiden sat down with a scowl replacing his blank expression, Caden looked much the same. Everything was quiet except for the laughter of the fire.

In Varrock things were beginning to look grim, though Johnny and Azura were no longer in danger of being sacrificed, that did*’t make it any less unappealing to watch. Elder chanted the same as last time, though in a much louder voice. Kopf seemed to enjoy his job, as he did it with a smile, his mask only covered from the nose up. He swung but the blade slipped slightly, and did*’t manage to behead the horribly unlucky man on the first swing, and another swing was required. The winds picked up, and soon shingles were being pulled from roofs, some people found it hard to stand, but they simply continued. One head after another rolled to the ground and on the tenth, it seemed as if the wind laughed for a moment or two. Instead of stopping instantly, it slowly hissed back down to a normal state, and once again those inside the Palace were left wondering of the effects.

Else where in the Palace...

Turok, the champion knight was almost free of the ropes that binded him to a support column in the basement storage area of the Palace he had been continually grinding them against the edge of the column in an attempt to wear them down, and in just a few moments, he would finally be free. It snapped, and he rubbed his wrists before quietly maneuvering to untie his sleeping friends. After they were all free, he was sad to see there was barely fifteen of them, the others had been taken some where else, or killed. Their armor and weapons had been taken from them, but that was the least important thing on their minds. They were in a food storage area, and hadn’t had food in nearly two days.

They quickly consumed their fill, but Turok had quickly located a weapon. He noticed a weak brick wall and tugged and pulled on various bricks until one finally came loose, after that he hurried to grab a loaf of bread, and then he ordered one of his men to check the door to see if it was locked. As expected, it was, so he hatched a plan. He would hide under the staircase and ambush the guards when they came to give them their drink of water for the night, and then they could silently escape, and possibly retake the Palace if given enough luck. Of course his whole plan depended on the cult remembering to feed their prisoners...

Later that evening...

Eight ‘O Clock, the Palace was well lit and a staff of chefs had been selected from the cult members, Elder and Ko had decided there was no reason not to take full advantage of the castle’s many benefits while they waited for Him to complete his restoration process. The huge dining hall severed it’s purpose for cultists and zombies just as well as it did for servants and nobility.

The meal was simple but well seasoned making it memorable, even more so if you were a young girl and boy being help captive by presumably psychotic cultists. The table they ate at was a fair distance from the others, to assure peace and quiet while attempting to speak with one another. Elder and Ko always ate with their most important assets, those mainly being Kopf and Truand. Kopf had been recruited too far back to remember, he was an alcoholic and depressed homeless man when Elder had found him on the street. Through an act of empathy, Elder had turned him into something of a tactician, and a brutal and charismatic leader when need be.

There was a very thick air of tension among those at the table, and Johnny in particular closely watched Elder. How did he manage to eat with silver wear, without his eyes?

“Ko... why exactly are you here?” Azura finally asked, he looked uncomfortable, and sipped on a glass of water.

“Well these are my friends, and my followers. It makes perfect sense I would be here with them.” he seemed to pick and choose his words very carefully.

“What? You’re some kind of gang leader?” she pressed on, she felt like she had to get some answers while she had a chance.

“Gang, cult, what ever term you like.” Elder chuckled.

“How the hell do you eat?” a swollen eyed Johnny suddenly demanded with extreme frustration written all over his face. Truand laughed hard for a few moments.

“Can you not smell your food, boy?”

“Well, yeah...”

“I always knew where you were because I could smell you, and everytime you took a step I was certain of your position. And these laces on my hood, you see they’re-”

“Enchanted with some kind of magic?” Azura said with a big smile, before nervously sinking back into her seat. He sat there for a moment, he seemed amused.

“Why aren’t you the clever one? Yes they’re enchanted, I can make them give off a very low, very strong, noise, which bounces back to me off objects, depending on what the echoes sound like, allows me to determine all the animals, people, and objects in a room. It’s the echo-location bats use.” he resumed eating. Roxanne was aware he used those laces for something, but hadn’t known what until now.

*...How did you lose your eyes?” Azura just couldn’t resist asking. He suddenly froze up as he brought a piece of chicken to his mouth, as if an arrow had struck his heart.

“Haha, oh wow.” Truand took his his middle and index finger, and made it look like they were running, while looking at Azura and pointing at the large door leading out of the dining room.

“Well that is an interesting story, but is it appropriate at the dinner table?”

“W-Why not?* Johnny half expected another rage induced beating, but felt like he had nothing to loose other wise. He growled for a moment, he honestly did*’t seem entirely human at times.

“I was a young strong man, who received an invitation to a gang organization. It offered to pay very well, and coming from a poor family it was simply an offer I could not turn down. A week later I was on my first job, delivering a package of high end drugs to some junkies in Falador. On the way I was mistaken as a message carrier by some Saradomin extremists, who abducted me in the middle of the night as I lay resting, the cowards.” he seemed to be suddenly filled with disgust rather than anger, and paused for a few moments to consume some wine.

“After I woke-”

“Anyone mind if I smoke?” Truand interrupted, only angry stares responded, so he shrugged and lit his cigarette.
