Dylan Riley

Dylan hummed as the pot bubbled away. Jaden may be the Captain of the ship, but in this kitchen, he was an Admiral. Or so he told himself, anyway.

None questioned his mastery of the culinary arts, and whenever people complained about the food, it had more to do than the limited resources than the quality itself. Food, after all, cost money, and on longer journeys had to be rationed, so there were many days when he had to make simple oatmeal or pasta. Not this day, however.

He brought up a display on his wrist computer, to quickly check the time. He lifted the lid on the pot, stirred it, then closed it again. Only a few more minutes. To pass the time, he switched over to his wrist computer's app for some sort of farm management game, and frowned bitterly when he realized he had forgotten to check it yesterday. All of his crops were dead.

With a sigh, he began tapping away to clear them up, and replant them anew...

Name: Nyx
Age: 21
Gender: male
Race: Kathiss

Appearance: 4 and a half feet tall, with skin of a dark brown hue that has random patches of lighter brown scattered across it. His right ear has a chunk taken out of it, the top inch or so missing and the outer side still a bit raggedy from when it was torn off. His eyes are different colors, one being green while the other is orange, and even if he seems at ease they are usually flitting around the room as if searching for an escape.

He is well-built, surprisingly muscular for someone who really doesn’t do much physical combat. There are also scars covering quite a bit of his body, as well as two lasting burn marks on his chest and his left leg.

Normal clothing: The exact opposite of his work gear, he tends to wear baggy clothing that is rather spacious and doesn’t cling to his body. Whenever the option is there, they’re always shorts and tees.

Armour: A rather tight bodysuit that’s made with mobility in mind. It’s black in color when it isn’t active, but has a full chameleon effect when brought to life. Its defense comes from the built-in shield mechanism, although this is not extremely powerful as the suit is designed for stealth and offers little to no protection from most weapons beyond the shield. He has a wrist computer as well. Both suit and computer are heavily tinkered with, and next to impossible for anyone else to use without them blowing up in their face.

Skills: Engineering (More tinkering and sabotage than anything else), Marksmanship, and Stealth

Job: Infiltration Specialist off the ship, Gunner on the ship

Short history: One of the newer Autumn Star arrivals, and one that certainly wasn’t asked for. Being a stowaway out of a warzone - or more accurately escaping a prison that had been caught in a convenient area of conflict - he probably would have gotten kicked out into space if it wasn’t for the fact that he actually had a lot of experience that went well on such a vessel. Not that it meant people had to like him, considering he was rude, inconsiderate, and probably stole something from half the crew during his first week aboard.

His criminal record is extensive, although given that everyone onboard is also a criminal it doesn’t really matter that much. Nearly all of it is just for minor issues, anyways: tech stolen here, money stolen there, someone non-lethally shot over somewhere else. Several are also gang-related, although those are all within a time period of a year and cease after that. In truth he never minded getting locked up, since it was a change of pace and something else he had fun figuring out how to escape from.

The only serious caper was the one that ended with him escaping to the Star, and that was simply a classic case of targeting the wrong person. Rich people had much better security systems and a lot more influence to get someone locked away forever, and that was a lesson that he found out the hard way.

Other: Sparkly Dice (Man it’s been forever since one of these rules existed)

(Accepted! Intro post when ready!))

A smirk flashes across Jaden's face for a brief moment, before she is knocked over. Unfortunate for her that the pilot's chair happens to be right behind her, and she loses her footing to crash into it, and then onto the floor with a faint groan.

"Ugh....I still win," she mutters, wincing. Her elbow throbs a little from where she'd hit it against the floor hard. Not very humerus.

Kat called out a quick "Yes Cap'n," before making her way out into the halls of the ship. She didn't have a specific job while on deck, and had picked up a decent skill at more menial tasks in an effort to keep on the Captain's good side. As such, she often cleaned areas or helped with food. She especially liked keeping Dylan on his toes, given that he was a cook that had basically been adopted into the crew during the war. She herself had been pretty young at the time, but she had shown excellent skill (and refused to explain where it came from).

Anyway, she slipped into the kitchen, watching as Dylan slid into a chair and turned away from the door. The woman crept behind him, stilling her breathing and taking as silent steps as she could before finally throwing her hands to cover his eyes.

"Guess who, love?"

A few coughs later brought a rough chuckle from Booker, finally getting his breath again after it was forced out of him. He stayed there laid out on the floor of the cockpit, staring up at the ceiling for a bit.

" Alright, alright - I'll hand ya' this'un captain, even if you had a lil' help, " He conceded the win with a light groan, turning his head to where he could see Jaden similarly floored and taking a moment to appreciate the view before forcing himself into an upright position. His eyes flickered to the screens above where he noted the gravity seemed to be back ton normal. Must've been Kat, which saved him the trouble. He got to his feet and offered a hand to Jaden, flashing her his familiar grin.

" 24 to 23, I'll tie us up again next time cap'n. " He winked.

Dylan Riley

Dylan froze as the hands covered his eyes, and he immediately moved to seize the wrists of whoever had gotten the drop on him... then froze, as he realized who it was. His alarmed expression shifted into a relaxed smirk. "Could it perhaps be that pretty recon girl who is always skulking around?" he asked casually, as he powered down the computer.

"Are we still talking about fights?" Jaden drawls with a roll of her eyes, before accepting his aid to pull herself onto her feet. Without pause, she plops herself down into the pilot's chair, stealing his spot without so much as a by your leave.

"No response still from them?" She asks after a brief, cursory glance over the screens, her brows furrowed in a frown as she slouches in her newly stolen chair, one leg crossing the other.

Kat felt the cook's hands tighten and quickly release around her wrists. She'd been expecting a similar reaction - he was security when he wasn't cooking, and a bit jumpy sometimes.

"Pretty recon girl? Is that all I am to you? Dylan, I help you with cooking at least twice a week," Kat removed her hands and circled in front of him. "The least you could do is call me the sexy recon girl," she said with a faux pout.

"Anyway, how's food coming? The Captain's not in a good mood and I do not want to catch shit from her for bringing her your cold food." Kat smirked. "Booker's been at it again, I just came from there."

" Depends on your definition of a fight, " Booker countered with a chuckle, only to have his comfortable pilot seat stolen away from him. He let out a "aww c'mon!" before letting the loss go for now, stepping up to lean over the back of the seat to at least be partially comfy, and also to see the screens himself.

" Haven't heard a peep yet cap'n, it's starting ta' give me the feelin' they're calling someone else up first. " He idly noted on one screen that Kat had found her way to the kitchen and was speaking with Dylan while the rest of the crew were going back to their business, some of them noticeably less tense than they had been before the gravity incident. The corner of the pilot's lips curled into a smirk - seemed his real intent had done a little good. His gaze went down again, peering at the captain from above. " You think they're down ta' deal? "
