"It's a nice idea. But if they're not allowed an escort, they may not board at all. They do not trust us, as much as we do not trust them. Besides....It's a bottle neck, more or less. They couldn't storm us properly even if they wanted to." Jaden returns the smirk with a faint one of her own. "Besides.....Do you want to be the one to break it to Booker that we'll be taking his chair? We will never hear the end of it."

Dylan Riley

"Fair enough," Dylan nodded, before glancing toward the door. "I suppose I'll be on my way then. Always a pleasure, captain." And with those words he began walking toward the exit.

Something had been more serious than it should be for years. Kat had been with the crew since their fateful mission that led to their heroism. Of course, that meant she had also been with them for their quick descent from said heroism. It was still a sore spot, thanks for asking.

"Something's been more serious than it should be for years," Kat said, her usually carefree demeanor waning for a bit. A frustrated sigh escaped her lips before she was able to reclaim some of her normal composure. "But that's to be expected, really."

Kat smirked about Nyx's last comment. "Nothing's protected harder than secrets, but that just makes them all the more fun to learn. It wouldn't be fun to just get the reward, right?"

When the scorch marks were removed, Nyam applied a plumbing tool to lift the metal slightly to align it with the rest of the panel. Then, she applied a thickening agent to give it back its rigidity and marched out the room again.

"Thought as much," she muttered, taking Booker's silence for a personal victory.

With her workload completed, Nyam headed towards the canteen. She spotted a few lingering about, with Kat (the reconnaissance officer whose on-board duties were limited to running errands and staring doefully into the eyes of their pilot,) and Nyx, (the half-a-foot shorter Kathiss who held the more specialist branch of upkeeping the ship,) being the stand out characters.

Placing her supplies aside unceremoniously, Nyam approached the two, not openly engaging in small talk and simply waiting patiently to be given her meal.

“Dunno about you, but I prefer everything goes smoothly. Lost too many people I knew when someone decided to fight back.” he said with a shrug, his normal upbeat demeanor replaced by a more serious and slightly sad one. Although he tried not to talk about the earlier years of his life - at least not the serious bits - he would usually end up like this if he did.

Still, it only lasted for a moment, and he shook it off as he took a bite of the now cool enough to eat stew. His grin didn’t fully return, but there was a decent amount more energy in his words when he continued.

“Bet I’m overthinking it, though. None of them were military trained or equipped, or had rep like what’s here. Just gotta roll with it, and it’ll come out like it should.”

He had noticed Nyam's arrival and the way she was standing there waiting. It seemed incredibly awkward to him, but that wasn't his place to judge.

"Seat's open if you'd like." he told her, motioning to an empty seat near the pair of them. If Nyam didn't want to take it, he didn't mind, but it was far better to offer than not.

Nyam cocked an eyebrow at her Kathiss counterpart. Although generally not a sociable figure, Nyam knew enough about ship decorum not to refuse an open invitation; her antisocial behaviour was not an indication of social ineptitude. Grabbing hold of the aforementioned chair, Nyam swung it around so that its back faced towards the table and sat at it akimbo, thickly muscled arms crossed and resting atop the back of the seat.

Casting a neutral glance at Kat, Nyam asked, "Got any grub?"

Kat gave a quick nod to Nyam's arrival, finishing her mouthful of stew before swiftly standing from the table and walking to the counter. There were still some bowls of stew laid specifically out for the player-characters main staff, as most of the rank and file had grabbed theirs in passing.

She offered a still-warm bowl of stew to Nyam. "Should be cool enough to eat, it's been off the stove for a bit. You been doing okay, love?"

The woman also turned to Nyx. "I'll be heading out in a moment; gotta run some food to Booker before he has my ass for letting it get too cold. Literally or figuratively," Kat added with a smirk.

"Cold food don't bother me none," Nyam said, placing her spoon aside and drinking the stew out of the bowl like it was a pint of ale. She seemed well trained in this art of abject refusal to abide by common etiquette, for when she pulled the bowl aside for a gasp of air she'd miraculously managed to avoid food marks accumulating on the fur about her scarred lips.

She gave a nod to Kat, the only sign of appreciation that the girl would get from the brusque Kathiss. "Same shit," was her characteristically brunt answer to Kat's inquiry over how she was feeling in the present moment.

Nyam took another hearty swig, burped loudly, pawed her mouth with the back of a hand. "We're idling here," she noted, expressing her dissatisfaction that they were not currently on their way towards conflict, or waiting patiently for conflict to arrive upon them. It seemed like Nyam wouldn't be getting to use her favoured friend for a while yet. The stalling irritated her to no end.

"Don't like it. Idling makes you sloppy." She slopped up more of her meal.

((Right. For both Fysyx and Azi, your bios are accepted and you may intro when ready. :) ))

Jaden nods, waving her spoon. "See ya, Dylan," she answers before finishing off her stew. She looks down at herself with a grimace. She hates not drying off properly. She exhales sharply, before standing to begin rectifying the situation.

Meanwhile, in the cockpit...A small blue light begins flashing as an incoming communication attempts to make contact with the Autumn Star...

Cnossos’ bio is on page 7

Going back to Kash’ka gave Cnossos memories. His wife, his previous team, joining Autumn Star, the death of his family…

After dealing with the space pirates who stole what appeared to be Ghiak Feith tech, the rest of Autumn Star got underway. Zero gravity did not bother the feline criminal, the captain scuffled with the pilot, the recon girl checked on the chef and they agreed to the suicide mission, Nyam went to the cockpit to make repairs.

Cnossos had been in the armoury to check and clean his armour and weapons after the encounter with the pirates. He did not eat stew, though--being reptilian, his currently slow metabolism didn’t need any extra calories. Although Nyam did not mind cold food, ever since the Cold Pasta Incident of 3681, Cnossos doubted the cook.

Once armoured, Cnossos equipped his sniper rifle and AR behind either shoulder, holstered his pistol and SMG behind his waist, carried his helmet, and left the armory with a grunt.

“What had taken so long?”

* * *

Booker may have heard heavy footfall just as he noticed the blue light. A quarter-ton lizard entered the cockpit.

“They were in suspended animation or what?” Cnossos grumbled.
