Jaden turns her head, listening to each crew member speak. "I agree, this doesn't sound great," she agrees with a nod. "But it's been a while since our last pay day, and we need something to survive."

She pauses for a moment, sighing. "On top of the price asked for the supplies....They're willin' to pay us fifty thousand credits. It's a big payday."

Jaden revealed the payday. Indeed, fifty grand of credits was a lot, especially when you don’t have much already.

Cnossos slowly nodded. “I hated to keep things on hold.” He didn’t spend the last couple hours cleaning and preparing his gear for nothing. “Something funny attempted, let’s show them how we removed Karshok from the scene.”

Fifty thousand? That...wasn't bad at all. Almost seemed like too much, really, and did nothing to make Nyx less suspicious of whatever was going on here. Unfortunately, they did need it, and necessity usually won out over suspicion in a situation like this. Even if he didn't really care about having much of the money himself, keeping a ship flying certainly took more than running a crew in the bowels of a planet.

"I'm not gonna try and stop us from doin' this, cap. We just need to be smart about it." was his contribution to the conversation. It was clear that he still didn't like this, but even with the suspicious setup it felt unwise not to go along for the moment.
Done in by the dubious doings of destiny.

Kat noted the others' replies. She'd heard over the call what the price point was for this particular mission, and it was of course what had interested her the most. It was almost definitely a trap, and even if it somehow wasn't, it was a death mission regardless.

"I agree with, well, more or less everyone here," she added. It was a helluva risky mission even without the suspiciously extravagant payday. The authorities had been after the whole crew for years, and luring them into a specific facility was a damn good way to catch them as easily as possible.

Course, Kat didn't let Jewel's appearance go unaddressed - he had been gone for two days, after all - so she turned to him. "Hey, Jumpy. You feeling stable enough to offer any assistance on this excursion?"

Fifty thousand. Too much, but it couldn't be refused. The price proved it risky, maybe even probably a trap - they wouldn't pay that much if they didn't expect significant trouble - but the payout more than made up for it.

"We don't have much choice," said Jewel, "so let's get there soon."

He looked at Kat as she addressed him and wiped his mouth with his hand. He was glad she cared enough to have thought of him. He often couldn't get very far away from the ship without feeling 'jumpier'. It recalled to him the time shortly after he was discharged, where he was brought to Earth for a ceremony which he didn't end up attending. The Autumn Star left beforehand, but before it was even out of sight flying away, he disappeared off the face of the Earth. He turned up a month later back on the ship and generally avoided disembarking from then on.

Sometimes, when they landed on planets, he would walk around the perimeter a little, and if they landed in a city, he could usually visit some nearby shops and restaurants. When they landed on medium and small spaceports, he could usually explore the whole place, and it would be likely the facility they would be exploring would be about that size or smaller.

Still, he couldn't be certain to be useful. His area of expertise was tied to the engine room. Even before his accident, he never had been all that good of a shot, and since the time his blaster went off in the common room he had lost the habit of carrying a weapon on him at all times, and often didn't trust himself to go to the shooting gallery to practice. Furthermore, he would be more vulnerable than the average crewmember due to not being able to wear a shield.

He basically didn't see himself being all that helpful to an exploratory party unless they needed to inspect the facility's engine room, but that would be a stretch. He forced his fingers across his eyebrows, obscuring his eyes. He could hardly even count as moral support. If the captain wanted him, he would join, but he could be just as happy staying on the Autumn Star hovering around the engine room, reading workbooks and waiting for trouble.

"I'll... try," replied Jewel. "But you know how it is."
