Kat grabbed a previously unclaimed bowl of the still-warm-but-not-searing-hot stew and a spoon. She silently saluted to the two Kathiss people and marched down the ship back to the cockpit.

As she walked in, she saw the hulking form of Cnossos there, grumbling about something as always. Ignoring him in favor of the man who'd obviously give her attention, she smiled.

"Hey Book. Got some food for ya!" Kat offered the man the bowl, giving him a wink as she did so. Assuming he accepted the bowl from her hands, she also mimed blowing a kiss at him.

"There's still some in the mess hall if you wanna make sure you're loaded up for what's coming," the spy added, throwing a quick glance to Cnossos. As she did so, her expression shifted from smug confidence to genuine confusion. "Hey, babe, why're you all kitted out already? Cap'n hasn't given us orders to do so."

Booker kept to his post after the call to lunch was sounded - as tempting as it was to head on over after Kat's voice boomed over the comms, he had a good two reasons to stick to where he was. The first, of course, being he would be the first to get the message when it finally came through - if it finally came through - and he'd be able to react if a certain problem dropped out of hyperdrive. The second, and in his opinion much more important reason - was that by staying here, it was much more likely Kat would come bbring him some food anyway.

Although when the pilot heard footsteps approach he couldn't say he thought it'd be the ninja. He almost never heard her footsteps. These ones were louder, making no attempt at subtlety - and glancing over his shoulder he spotted the taciturn Nyam making her way into the room with her toolkit. The Kathiss' irritated words provoked an almost nervous grin from Booker, who for once chose to hold his tongue and let the woman work.

That said... He wasn't blind, his eyes trailed Nyam's physique as she worked - admiring the muscular cat-woman's assets and the way she moved working on fixing the bullethole in the wall. When she was done he just flashed her a more headstrong grin and gave her a nod, waiting until she was on her way out before calling after her. " Thanks for the view! "

The wait continued with him double-checking the systems and glancing over the cameras in the mess hall, seeing a good number of the crew socializing and munching. When, suddenly, a blue light flickered on - and Booker's eyes lit up with it.

" Finally! " He muttered, reaching for his comms to alert the captain when - stomping into the cockpit - there came a giant lizardman armed to the teeth. The pilot's head turned to look at the kitted-out juggernaut with a hint of confusion, but before he could reply Kat slid in past Cnossos with a bowl in hand - aha, lunch had arrived! Along with possibly dessert!~

" Kit-kat! Damn tasty lookin', and the food looks good too! " He exclaimed with a chuckle, accepting the bowl with one hand and returning her blown kiss with a wink and a tongue click. Attention returned to the lizardman behind them soon after, with Kat asking the question Booker had been considering before she entered. That said... Booker was pretty sure Cnossos always kept himself kitted up.

" Chill yer bones big fella', works'a'coming! " He quickly flicked on a comm to Jaden. " Hey cap'n, showtime! " He quickly gave her a heads-up before patching the communication through to the captain's comms device.

Babe? Although quite stoic, if only Cnossos didn’t have scales, his facial expression would have contorted so much more!

“If they took their time, they had planned something. We should not have waited, we must be prepared and readied to meet them.”

Years spent hunting in jungles--where point-blank ambushes could happen anytime--made Cnossos a bit paranoid but battle-ready. It was in his nature to get face-to-face with any foe, at any time, and duke it out immediately. Booker understood that for sure, but Kat was correct in that the captain hadn’t given orders to suit up just yet, either. Of course, Cnossos was not the most disobedient soldier in history, but for what he lacked in obedience he made up for morale.

Kat and Booker had exchanged pleasantries and he received food from her, too.

How unprofessional, Cnossos thought.

Nevertheless, his impatience might have ended once Booker notified Jaden of impending communication. Cnossos crossed his arms and listened...

Jaden swiftly throws on some clothes and accepts the communication call, bringing up the figure of an a'kasa on screen. It looks female, and wearing silken robes.

"Captain Jaden Cassstell, of the Autumn Ssstar. I might have guesssssed it was you behind thisss," she states flatly, glaring through the screen. "I trust the supplies are at least intact?"

"You wound me, madam. I am an honest woman," Jaden answers with a faint smirk. "You agree to the terms then?"

"Not ssso fassst, young one," the a'kasa purrs, folding her arms. "Actually, your presence is most fortuitousss. I have need of your ssskills, and that of your crew. If you agree, we will pay you for the supplies....And more."

Jaden frowns, her smirk vanishing. Willing to pay for the supplies, AND more...? That sends up a red flag for her. "Hm....Care to explain the mission you have in mind?" She asks after a few silent moments, under no doubt that Booker is listening to the entire thing.

"One of our facilitiesss has....Gone sssilent. We have of course sssent othersss to investigate, but none have reported back. If you are willing to go there and find out what is going on....We are willing to pay an extra....Fifty thousand credits."

Jaden slowly blinks. "I see. And the catch is that you have absolutely no idea what you're sending us into," she notes with a raised brow.

"That isss...Correct. And no questionsss asssked."

"Right....Well, I'll consult my crew. You'll have your answer within the hour," Jaden stares, before shutting off the call. Fifty thousand credits for a simple investigate and potentially destroy mission. Usually the Autumn Star charged twenty thousand for this kind of mission. She has a bad feeling about this, but she marches to the main navigation room and flicks on the intercom.

"All available crew, report to the navigation room."
Everyone has the potential to be an asshat in a flower crown.

Kat didn’t have time to respond to the A’kasa’s disdain before Booker patched the incoming comms over to the Captain’s room. Course, she knew as well as anyone that he’d be listening in as well, so she closed even more of the distance between the two of them. The spy draped herself over the side of Booker’s chair, careful to not hit any buttons.

The woman moved so her ear was near the comms link as Booker held it to his ear. She knew she could get away with this – she had done it many times, and really, what else was to be expected? – so she listened in on the conversation between the Captain and an A’kasa.

At the end, Jaden summoned all available crew to the nav room. Kat leaned back from Booker’s comms device. She took a moment to boop his nose, winked, and rose to make her way to where the Captain called them. “Good luck, love,” she called as she left the cockpit.

Naturally both Jaden and Kat knew him all too well, for Booker was not one to miss out on listening to the communications - a comms device raised to his ear right after patching it through to the captain. His eyes flickered sideways to the close proximity of a certain ninja, smirking victoriously at her before his focus drifted to the conversation itself.

Suspicious as all hell was what it fucking was.

Sheer number of things that could go wrong for them was through the roof! Unknown problem, could be anything. Chance of betrayal - high. Possible empire forces laying in wait for their arrival or departure - high. Payment too good to be true - suspicious. As he lowered the comms device and heard the captain speak over the intercom, summoning them to navigation, he let out a drawn out sigh - then got booped.

" No need for luck when I'm this good! " He called after her, his mood lightened once again. Booker rose out of his chair, stretching his arms, then grabbed the bowl of stew Kat had brought him and headed off after her in the direction of navigation - spooning the food into his mouth as he went. Still warm - good stuff, always best to go on a rough mission with a full belly.

"You're only idling if you let yourself. Gotta find something to do if you're bored." Nyx told Nyam, giving Kat a wave when she grabbed food for the pilot. The two of them had one of the more...interesting dynamics on the ship, it seemed. Not that it was his business, although on a ship of this size it was basically everyone's business since it was impossible to miss.

Now that the stew was cool enough - although he could still feel the burn, and internally rolled his eyes knowing that it'd be an annoyance for a few days - he could get to finishing it, and it was a good thing that he did. The call for everyone came in when he was mostly done, and gave him cause to quickly slurp up the rest before rising and placing his bowl back where it needed to be cleaned.

As he went to leave, he said to Nyam, assuming she hadn't teleported to the Captain's side at the call, "See you there!"
Done in by the dubious doings of destiny.

Everett Jewel

Blink. He'd arrived. Jewel checked his wrist as his comm unit synced to the ship. 9/6/81, a little before 22:00. Damn. He'd lost two days.

He surveyed his current location; West Hall 2B. His comm unit would indicate to a few notable people that he had returned, and where he was. There was a little consolation - his phenomenal clock and the ship clock were in sync. And it was likely, even this late, that Dylan was serving something good in the kitchen right now. Hope it wasn't stew again. There were a number of locations he could reasonably be expected to go to. There was the engine room - always good to check in there - the mess, his quarters. He felt a buzz on his wrist. There was an alert from the captain directing him to the Navigation Room. Something must be up.

Jewel headed towards the Navigation Room, cursing under his breath.
