Rick: I SHOULD BE ASKING YOU THAT!

Morty: Yes. Get me Superman. NOW!

Commissioner: I'm not the rocket scientist here!

Rick: Then WHY ARE YOU HERE-

Reporter: Calm down, guys!

Rick sighs.

Rick: Ok.

Morty: Code red. Yes. Multi-universal destruction.

Rick: Universes are rapidly being destroyed. Somehow, it spreads from universe to universe, like a virus. And it's spreading. That's all I know.

Commissioner: Absurd. There's no way.

Morty: No known cause.

Rick: Unless we actually investigate one of the universes currently being destroyed, there's nothing else we can know.

Commissioner: It has to be just some weird thing.

Rick: One universe? Maybe. Many universes? No accident.

Reporter: And how do you know it's spreading?

Rick: Some universes have died off more recently than others. I used the time stamps on the last messages sent to the universes to determine this. We have no reason to believe that this will not eventually affect our universes as well.

Morty: Yes. I understand. Thank you.

Morty: Superman wants you to lead the investigation. He will have a team ready for you.

Rick: Alright. No pressure, obviously. I'll just let Fortnite know real quick and we'll be off...

- Emergency Meeting -

Rick, Morty, the Commissioner, the reporter, Goku, and Superman are gathered in the conference room in the Multi-Universal Sports League headquarters.

Rick: You already know why you're here. Goku, I gave you the details on e mail.

Goku: What e mail?

Rick: Never mind! Just follow along...

Rick explains the issue.

Superman: I contacted Darkseid. He said it's not his doing.

Rick: And you trust him why?

Superman: Well, he has no reason to destroy everything-

Goku: So are we dealing with a new villain?

Morty: We don't know yet.

Rick: Give me a team of your best robots. We'll go in and investigate.

Rick: I built a device that tracks every universe in sight and tells us which ones are dead and which ones may be dying. Obviously, dead universes cannot pick up signals. Dying universes have signs of decay; they cannot pick up signals as well as healthy universes. Basically, healthy universes don't have issues that dying universes have.

I want you, the Commissioner, to monitor this device, and tell me which universes are dying. We'll keep in touch. I, Morty, and the robots will go to these universes and try to solve the mystery.

Superman: Well, you're assuming all healthy universes have signs of life to pick up your signals.

Rick: Signals travel through healthy universes as expected. In dying universes, we expect to see some form of corruption or distortion, etc. Obviously, it helps to have life pick up these signals and respond to us.

Goku: You're going by yourselves? What about-

Morty: We don't want any liabilities. And you are busy. Rick and I have the most experience with inter-dimensional travel. We just need some robots to do calculations and we're set. And robots can die for the cause, in case it comes to that.

Rick: No patience for on-the-job training. All we need are some calculators and we're good.

Superman: I can give you 10 robots tomorrow. Enough?

Rick: Some drones would be nice. Scouting drones.

Superman: 10 robots, 10 drones.

Rick: Only the best.

Superman: Understood.

Morty: And an inter-dimensional spaceship would be nice.

Superman: I'll just give you the full army.

Rick: Don't tell anyone about this. We do not want a public panic. Keep running the games as normal. Behave normally in public.

Superman: If we need to evacuate-

Rick: I will let you know.

The meeting ends. The device is attached to the communications network.

Reporter: Just disqualify the villains. It's obviously them-

Commissioner: No evidence. Just wait.

Reporter: ...

Rick and Morty quickly realize that communication is impossible when they are inside of a dying universe. They return to the league headquarters once a week to report results. The first few weeks were unproductive as they came up with nothing.

Rick: The dying universes have next to nothing. That's all we know. We'll have to keep looking. There is no other choice...

Misaka Mikoto, the former SOS Brigade member, dumps the puck in. Retrieves it. Gandalf...to Saradomin. He shoots! WIDE! DORAEMON GOT A PIECE OF IT!

- 2nd Period -

SARADOMIN WITH A BREAKAWAY! SHOOTS! OFF THE SIDE OF THE NET! HARUHI SUZUMIYA GETS IT BACK! STOPPED BY GUTHIX!

REBOUND, RIGHT THERE! SAITAMA MISSED! COMPLETELY MISSED! WIDE OPEN NET!

The legendary One Punch Man looks up in disbelief. He missed a wide open net...

- 3rd Period -

Faceoff was not won cleanly. Saradomin scrambles for it against Yuki Nagato. HE GETS A SHOT! STOPPED BY DORAEMON!

- Overtime -

HARUHI, ONE-TIMER! STOPPED BY GUTHIX! YUKI, ONE-TIMER, SARADOMIN DIVES, BLOCKS IT! ALL SORTS OF TRAFFIC! GANDALF DUMPS THE PUCK OUT! WOW!

- Shootout -

Saradomin has been pretty good in shootouts this year.

RuneScape would go on to win a soccer game in regulation, 2 - 0, and Saradomin scored both goals. On the road, the SOS Brigade does manage to snap their winning streak. They win 113 - 112 in overtime for basketball and 2 - 1 in 10 innings of baseball.

Reporter: How? How are you so successful?

Guthix: We're not that successful. We lost 2 games. The first 2 games in this whole season.

Reporter: But you're still on pace for the Multiverse President's Trophy. How do you feel?

Guthix: Nothing. We expected to come out and dominate. Last season, we just weren't ready, and we wanted to tank to prepare for this year. This is just the regular season, we haven't done anything spectacular yet. The real prize is the Multiverse Cup.

- Emergency Meeting #2 -

Rick calls for another meeting. This time all of the franchise leaders are invited. 30 people to represent 30 franchises in the league.

Rick: Just under 2 months ago, we discovered a disturbance in the spacetime continuum. We have been investigating different universes to find the cause and have found nothing. We do know that it's spreading, and if it reaches us, it would be the end of our existence.

Superman: You created the RuneScape universe, Guthix. Any thoughts?

Guthix: Well, yeah, but every universe is different. Uses a different language of code, if we assume they're all computer generated.

Superman: Which RuneScape is.

Guthix: Not all universes are like that. Even if they run by code, it may not be code as we know it. So I don't know what this is.

Rick: Keep an eye on your universes, but don't tell anyone about this. We don't want a panic. Report any unusual activity. We will keep searching.

Thanos: Whatever it is, it's not us. I know it's hard to believe. I have no reason to destroy everything...

Superman: We'll see about that.

Thanos: I'm not lying. I want to help...

Rick: There's nothing you can do now. Just keep an eye out.

Thanos: Understood.

The trade deadline is on March 25, 2018. By now, many teams already know their chances of winning the Cup, and many have decided to tank.

RuneScape makes offers for Merlin the wizard, who plays for Team Olympus.

Negotiations were not easy, since Merlin is one of Team Olympus's key players.

Zeus: No reason to give him up. Absurd.

King Roald: That would be the case if you weren't lacking something else...faith. Not many people believe in you anymore. Demoralizing for a god to be regarded as fiction...

Zeus: That's not your concern.

King Roald: For Merlin, it is now. RuneScape is willing to support many, many gods. Merlin can promote your people to them. In the playoffs, hundreds of millions will watch our games.

Wise Old Man: Be realistic. Even with him, you will not win the Cup.

Zeus: You don't know that-

Merlin: I do. I see the future. I cannot change your outcome.

Zeus growls.

Zeus: Are you sure?

Merlin: Positive. Let me go with them. I want to win now.

King Roald: Don't let your guy down.

Zeus sighs.

Zeus: Fine!

Reporter: We let 4 Touhou characters in already. If we're banning her, we have to ban the others as well. RuneScape is overpowered. Inequality will always be there. It's natural. You can't take that away or we'll lose viewers.

Commissioner: But we have to be fair-

Reporter: It is fair. As much as I hate to admit it, RuneScape outplayed the others. They made the better trades, they had more to give and more to get. They used the draft lottery to their full advantage and now it's like they're the new Touhou. We cannot take away what we gave them and what they have earned.

Commissioner: ...............

Reporter: It's supposed to be competitive. Let players play. You think people tune in to see last place teams?

Commissioner: I didn't say that, but I get your point. We can't take back the draft lottery now. You know what? Fine. This will be very interesting. Tenshi, come back here! Tenshi!

Tenshi hurries back.

Commissioner: Since we have 4 other people from your universe, we'll let you in. Which team do you want?

Tenshi: Whoever will take me. Playoff teams, of course. THANK YOU!

Commissioner: It was the reporter. He got you in.

All playoff teams made bids for her. But once again, RuneScape...

King Roald: They're losers, LOL. Come with us. We're the best team!

Merlin: He is correct. I predict a Cup win with certainty.

Alice: Yeah! RuneScape is awesome! Free food, housing! Come on!

Flandre: Come play with us!

Tenshi: I choose RuneScape. I shall join my fellow Touhous.

Flandre: I know the feeling. Mocked, forgotten. I was locked away in a basement before I started playing. They wouldn't give me enough credit for the Cup victory.

Alice: I'm just alone. I have no reason to be loyal to Touhou. Welcome to the new team. The next champions.

Guthix: We will give you all plenty of chances to be the main characters. Don't worry.

Reimu: I kinda feel bad. Good luck, Tenshi, Alice, Flandre. I hope they treat you better than we did.

- Team Practice -

The players that struggled in hockey practice hockey and likewise for the other sports.

Guthix: So when they dump the puck in, I'll settle it down. You pick it up and stay behind the net until a good pass can be made.

Tenshi: Yeah, I know. I played last year. Rinnosuke taught me everything.

Gandalf: But you have to get used to our team. We play a bit differently.

Saber: Whatever it takes to win.

Wise Old Man: We like to make centre play as much as we can. You know what that is, right?

Merlin: Yes. Carry the puck or ball through the middle instead of dumping it in.

Saradomin: In baseball, go for the home run if you're confident.

Misaka Mikoto: Easy.

The team practices for about 3 hours. Tenshi has never felt so happy in her entire life. She made new friends. She has a family. Alice and Flandre felt the same way on their first day with RuneScape. Others like Merlin felt nothing. They just came here to win.

They then went out to dinner together, and watched anime afterwards. These good times only lasted for a day, but the memories and the feelings will last forever...

King Roald: This is winning. This is happiness. This is RuneScape.

Guthix: We are not last place anymore.

Alice: What are you muttering about, LOL?
