Welcome to RuneScape anime. It's an anime-style story that combines RuneScape and some
popular anime concepts. This story is technically not anime because I will not be using any pictures. It is written in the style of anime. It is most similar to a light novel.

Seasons I-III are complete. They are mostly based on sports and science-fiction.

Season IV is inspired by the 2020 coronavirus pandemic and more! The details are on page 10. I encourage you to look at the introduction to Season IV, since you don't need to read the whole story to understand it.

This story will not take up 100 pages. I just set up 100 pages in case I want to write multiple stories. It is not likely that I will need 100 pages.

To save lots of time, a lot of parts have been skipped or summarized to keep this story short. There will be much less character development than what you might be used to seeing in a story. This allows the plot to move forward at a fast pace.

- Introduction -

In 2016, the Multi-Universal Sports League was formed. The 30 most popular franchises in the real world are invited to join this league. Their popularities depend on their approval ratings. These ratings are based on votes from the people all over the real world.

Electronic surveys are handed out to about 500 million people, asking if they approve or disapprove each franchise. They also have the option to abstain if they are not sure. The percentage of the people who approve is the approval rating. The approval and disapproval ratings usually do not add up to 100% because some people abstain.

- Team Registration -

Teams can have up to 20 players, and they get to decide how to arrange them. They can have a coach and a general manager, although they don't need to. The bare minimum requirement to be a team is to have a group of at least 15 players. No management staff is required.

Someone or a group of people must pay the $100 million USD fee to register in the league if the team is qualified. There is no cost for applying to the league. This fee covers the cost of the sports arenas, computerized referees, and other adminstrative costs. The cost to stay registered for the next season is $25 million USD.

This league involves 4 sports: basketball, baseball, ice hockey, and soccer (European football). The 30 teams have an optional 4 pre-season games where they would have to find an opponent to play with. The regular season is a round-robin where the teams play against each other in each of the 4 sports once. Each 4 games against an opponent form a season series. To play against the 29 other teams, 116 games are necessary to complete 29 season series. Most standard rules for the 4 sports apply. The tie-breaking and points procedure are done differently. There are also mercy rules.

- Mercy Rules -

The game will automatically end for

100-point lead in basketball
15-point lead in baseball, ice hockey, and soccer

In basketball, a maximum of 10 free throws can be given to both teams per quarter. This rule also applies onto overtime periods.

- Regular Season Tie-Breaking Procedure -

- Basketball -

5-minute periods are played until the tie is broken. The winner can then be declared.

- Baseball -

Extra innings are played until the tie is broken. The winner can then be declared.

- Ice Hockey -

5 minutes of 3-on-3 sudden death overtime is played. If the winning goal is not scored, then a 3-round shootout will follow where shooters go 1-on-1 against the goaltender. The home team has the option to shoot first. If the shootout score is tied after 3 rounds, tie-breaking rounds are used to determine the winner.

Playoffs

20 minute periods of 5-on-5 sudden death overtime with 15 minute breaks in between periods until the game winning goal is scored. The game immediately ends after this goal is scored.

- Soccer -

30 minutes of sudden death overtime is played, followed by around 5 minutes of stoppage time. If the winning goal is not scored, then a 5-round shootout will follow where shooters go 1-on-1 against the goaltender. Shooters must shoot from the point, they cannot move closer to the goaltender. The home team has the option to shoot first. If the shootout score is tied after 5 rounds, tie-breaking rounds are used to determine the winner.

Playoffs

45 minute periods, along with about 2 to 5 minutes of stoppage time, of sudden death overtime is played until the game winning goal is scored. There are 15 minute breaks between these periods. The game immediately ends after this goal is scored.

- Teams -

Teams can have up to 20 players, and they get to decide how to arrange them. They can have a coach and a general manager, although they don't need to. The bare minimum requirement to be a team is to have a group of at least 15 players. No management staff is required.

- Regular Season Trade -

Teams are allowed to trade players with each other. Teams with a lack of players can offer cash or other resources for players. Trades are done to upgrade teams and/or to satisfy player requests. Management staff such as coaches and even managers can also be traded. The trade deadline is usually after every team has played their 100th game of the season. No more trading is allowed after this date.

- Regular Season Awards -

- Multiverse President's Trophy -

Awarded to the best team in the season.

- Season MVP Trophy -

Awarded to the player with the most points in the season. Points come from goals and assists. In baseball, they come from runs.

- Season Conference Champion Title -

Awarded to the best team in each conference in the season.

- Season Division Champion Title -

Awarded to the best team in each division in the season.

- All-Star Status -

Awarded to the best players around halfway through the season. They are invited to the All-Star Competition, which is a competition of special skills.

- Multiverse Cup Playoffs -

16 teams, 8 from the Western Conference, and 8 from the Eastern Conference, will qualify for the playoffs. They are usually the top 16 teams in points. The conferences are divided into 2 divisions. The top 3 teams in each division are guaranteed playoff spots. In each conference, there are 2 wild card spots that can be taken by teams from either division but not from a different conference. These teams are matched to an opponent, and will play a best-of-7 series against them. The winners move on to the next round while the losers are eliminated from playoff contention.

The first round matchups would be

Division #1 vs. Wild Card #2
Division #1 vs. Wild Card #1
Division #2 vs. Division #3

where the higher ranking Division #1 takes on Wild Card #2. The teams on the left have home field advantage in games 1, 2, 5, and 7. The home team in the playoffs can choose which sport to play for their home games. They could choose to play 4 hockey games, 4 basketball games, or even 2 baseball games and 2 soccer games. The teams with home field advantage in games 3, 4, and 6 can also decide which sport they want to play for these games.

The second round (Division Final), third round (Conference Final), and fourth round (Multiverse Cup Final) matchups depend on whoever is left. The highest-ranked team will play against the lowest-ranked team available. In the Multiverse Cup Final, the two remaining teams, who are conference champions, play against each other for the Multiverse Cup.

Since all playoff rounds consist of best-of-7 series, 16 playoff wins are needed to win the Multiverse Cup.
