Harry Richard
The writer from earlier went on a rant, Isaac was complaining about a thumping noise, Annie asked a question that she had already asked, and through some 6D chess leap of logic, Rory was attempting to break down a hard metal door with a simple chair.
He needed a plan. But he couldn't think. And shouting for quiet would either add to the racket, or turn everyone else's anger against him.
Harry groaned, rose to his feet, and threw his shoe at Rory's back. Not hard enough to injure, but enough to catch him off guard, get his attention, and hopefully make him stop. "Wood can't break steel," he would say rather bluntly, if Rory turned back to look at him.
"And you," he turned to the writer, "if you didn't want to get involved in this, you should have walked away when you first heard the outpost was attacked. You think whoever grabbed us wouldn't have checked the inn, or that they would have left you alone? Chances are, you would have ended up here anyway, so stop blaming us. We're all in the same boat now."
Beneath the gold, the Bitter Steel.
