We traveled through the mines turing right here and left there. It seemed like a never ending maze. I feared we would never get out until I saw a small light flickering just ahead of me in the the tunnel in front of us.

"Look! A light!" I yelled. I ran forward, my hopes high, Eragna at my heels. When we reached the light, we found it was not made by the light of day but by a small fire. Sitting on a bench behind the fire was a little man. He was holding a pickaxe in one hand, and a small cloth in the other. He looked up form his pick and looked at us. He grunted and got up from the bench.

"Well? What is it?" He asked in a gruff voice.

Eragna and I started at him.

"Are you a dwarf? I thought you had all been whiped out by the scorpian raid!" Eragna shouted.

"Yes, well we have not. We made another city deeper in the rock. It is named Keldagrim. But it is only a matter of time until the scorpians find it too. I fear our times are short."

I looked at the drawf and back at Eragna.

"Can you show us out of here? I need to get to Varrock. Falador is being attacked! They need help!"

The dwarf grunted again.

"Falador... They are traitors! They promised their help when the scorpians attacked. Why do you think we were forced to move from our homes! They ran when they reached the tunnel! They are COWARDS!"

"No! They would never do that!" I yelled at the dwarf in disbelief.

"Well, its true. Their old king was a coward. His men turned against him and he was killed during a small rebellion. The new king was eleced shortly after. But we dont want anything to do with Falador now. We have already seen what they truley are."

"But they are different now! With a new leader they are stronger and braver than ever! They need your help or they will be whiped out!!"

"NEVER!" The dwarf yelled. He slammed his pickaxe into the ground and stared at me.

"Unless you can convince me there is a more important reason for us to help you, we will not come to Falador's aid."

"I am the holder of the last party hat." I said. The dwarf looked up at me, intrest sparked in his eyes.

"I need to get to Varrock, that is the onnly safe place there. Once I reach it, I can tell the king Falador needs help. If Falador is destroyed, it is only a matter of time until Varrock is whiped out too! Please, show me out of here!"

The dwarf looked at me again, and then turned around.

"Zammorak will be much stronger with thata party hat." He said. "Very well, I will show you out of the mines. But do not expect any help from us. It is up to you humans to save yourself, as you left us to save ourselves."

We followed the dwarf through many tunnels until we finally reached the tunnel exit. When we came out I could still hear the sounds of battle far off in the distance. I nodded thanks to the dwarf, and we continued to Varrock. After many hours of travel, we finally reached the city gates. The guards looked at us and stood in front of the door.

"What do you want?" One of the guards asked.

"I am the holder of the last party hat, I need to speak to the king." I panted.

"Bless my soul, it is true! The last party hat is still in our control! Please, come in. Welcome to Varrock." He opened the gate and we stepped in. We were met by the sounds of merchants selling their goods, and people running around the streets. We traveled down the road until we reached a grand foutain. People were standing around it chatting in hushed voices. Children were playing games and running around it screaming with laughter. I looked to my left and the great castle of Varrock loomed in front of me.

"Well, here goes everything." I said, and Eragna and I walked up the path to the castle.

When we reached the front of the castle about 10 guards stepped in front of us.

"Hault! What bussiness do you have with the king?" One of the guards asked.

"I have the last party hat. I was sent here by the king of Ardounge. I am to stay here and keep it in the kingdom." I answered.

"Ha! Like Ive never heard that one before. Show me the party hat!"

I reached into my bag and pulled it out. The guards gasped when they saw it and looked around as if they had all heard something.

"Put it away boy! Thats enough for me." The guard stammered. "Please... follow me." Eragna and I followed the guard into the kingdom. I was surprised at how many people were living in the castle. We passed about 20 people dressed in robes before we the guard stopped in front of a door.

"The king is in there. I will leave you now."

"Thanks." I said and I opened the door. When we walked in the king was pacing back and forth on the floor with his face in his hands. He looked up when we walked in.

"Yes? What is it? Im very busy!" He said.

"I am the holder of the last party hat." I said for the hundreth time. "I was sent here by the king of Ardounge. He said this was the safest place for me."

"Well, he was right. Fortunatly the Zammorak troops havent even reached Falador yet." He said. Suddenly I remembered.

"No! They have! I just came from there! And the dwarves... Theyre still alive!"

The king looked at me as if I was crazy.

"Erm... Yes, well... care to tell me your story then?"

"Theres no time! Falador is being run down by the Zammorakian troops! Theyre overpowered!"

"I will not do anything until you tell me whats going on! Now if you will not tell me what is going on I will send you out of my kingdom!"

I sighed and began my story from the start. When I had finished he looked at me as if I was a god.

"Oh great child... How could anyone put such a hard burden for you! I am ashamed what the lands of Runescape have done... I appologize for everyone that has done wrong to you."

I was taken back by this, but I shook it out of my head.

"Hurry!! We have to help Falador! Its only a matter of time until..." I gulpled.

"I agree." The king said. "Quickly, follow me." He walked for the door when it burst open. A guard was standing outside.

"Sir... A messenger has just arrived. Falador... theyve fallen." This news hit my like a shield crashing into my stomach. My knees buckled and I fell to the ground. The world began to spin above my eyes and I blacked out.

"When I woke up I was lying in a bed. I sat up and got to my feet. Somebody had changed my clothes. My dirty old clothes had been cleaned and were folded in a pile in the corner of the room. I heard a gasp behind me and I turned to see Eragna.

"Oh.. I must have dozed off. Youre awake!" He stammered.

"Yes... What has happened to Falador!? Are they ok? Where is the king--"

"Calm down. Falador's citizens are in the town center. The two kings are talking of what to do next. They have sent a messanger to Lumbridge. The Lumbridge military should be here soon. They left a while ago."

"Then that means the Zammorakian troops are on their way?"

"Yes. They are approaching Varrok." Eragna finished. Suddenly we heard shouts from outside, and I heard someone scream "Theyve taken our village!" I looked out the window and saw about 100 barbarians. The Zammorakian troops were closer than we all thought.

There were shouts from the town center as the Barbarian said this. I heard the gates closing and people running here and there in the streets. The clanking of swords fitting into scabbards echoed around the whole kingdom.

"Come, we must prepare for battle. We cannot wait and hide here." Eragna said. I knew what he meant. If the Zammorakian forces defeated Varrock, we would be sitting ducks in this room. It would be honorable to die in battle. I reached for my sword and strapped it to my belt. Suddenly there was a knock on the door and a servan stepped in holding a full suit of rune armor.

"Sir, I have been instructed to give this to you. The king's well wishes come along with it." He put it on a stand in the corner of the room and walked out. The armor gleamed in the sunlight as I reached to touch it. The instant I touched it I could feel the power in this armor.

"This will be a long fight." Eragna said.

"Yes." I agreed. We took a long look at eachother.

"You are no longer the kind neiborgh Eragna, you are the brave wizard Eragna." I said.

"You have shown more bravery than anyone could have every hoped for. Your father would be proud." He said. Suddenly, I felt as if somebody has stuck a sword through my heart. My father! I had forgotten him when I left Yannile. Rage seared through my veins and revenge shot through every blood vessle in my body. I wanted Zammorak dead. I withdrew my sword from its scabbard and walked to the door, my heart pounding with the fury of battle.

"Lets destory Zammorak and the soldiers he calls men." I spat. Eragna smiled, and followed me out the door.

When we reached the town center, it appeared that Lumbridge had already arrived. All 3 kings were talking next to the foutain. When the king of Varrock looked up and saw me, he beckoned me over.

"This is the brave boy who has held the party hat for so long." The king said.

"Brave boy, we thank you for all you have done for us." The duke of Lumbridge said.

"It was nothing." I lied. Suddenly someone ran toward us.

"Your orders, sir?" he asked.

"Yes, send word to the Gnomes in the north. We will need all the help we can get." The man nodded and ran off.

"Are you ready for battle, child?" The kin* of Falador asked.

"More than I ever was." I said.

"Good. You and your friend are brave fighters. We will need you on the battle field." he said. I nodded, and he walked off to his men.

"My soldiers will need me now." The Duke of Lumbridge said." The king of Varrock nodded, the the Duke walked off. I places the party hat safely under my plate body where nobody would see it. The king looked at me and smiled.

"No matter what happens, Saradomin will always look down upon you as a hero." He said. "May Saradomin be with you."

"And also with you." I said. He took one last look at me before walking off to the waiting troops.

We waited for hours in Varrock Square. I fell asleep at one point, but was awakened a few hours later from the droplets of rain that were beginning to fall. I slowly stood up from where I stood. Soldiers were putting out fires and setting up small tents around the foutain to get shelter from the rain. I looked around for Eragna. He was sitting in a circle with a few other mage* talking quietly. Suddenly, thunder erupted from the skies above and lightning flashed in the distance. The rain began to fall harder and I was forced to move into a tent with a few other soldiers. After a few minutes of talking, one of the soldiers whispered,

"Shhh, can you hear that?" I listened. Far off in the distance I could hear a distant grumble.

"Theyre coming!" One of the soldiers said. Fear stabbed at my heart as I stared into the pale faces of the other soldiers. One of them grabbed a horn at his side and ran out of the tent. He blew on it and a harmony of sounds erupted from it. Immediatly Varrock sqare burst into life. As if response to the soldiers horn, a deep groaning sound from yet another horn echoed in the distance. Everyone stopped what they were doing for less than a second before going back to work two times faster. I ran for the tent Eragna was in and almost collided with him coming out of it. He was dressed in a battle mage's robes, and he held a sword at his side.

"Well, here it goes." He said. I nodded, and we followed the rest of the soldeirs who were gathered at the front of the gate.

In the distance I could he the marching and the chanting of thousands of men. I shivered with fright. Eragna placed his hand on my shoulder. I looked at him. He looked as if he was about to throw up.

"Men! You have all shown the upmost bravery in these hard times!" The king of Varrock began. He was standing at the front of the lines of men, his sword was withdrawn. "There may come a time when the land of Runescape falls to the power of Zammorak. But today we shall claim victory over Zammorak and the beings he calls men! Today we fight! Today we conquer! Today we shall have victory!" Everyone responded in a huge roar of defience against Zammorak.

"Withdraw your swords and prepare for battle!" The king commanded. Everyone withdrew their weapons and faced the door. The Zammorakian troops were very close now. We could hear them charging and their voices screaming in the distance. But suddenly, it stopped. Everything was quiet except for the light pitter patter of rain against armor. Everyone began to look around at eachother in confusion. Suddenly, there was a horrific explosion of noise and the door separating Varrock and the rest of the world was blown off its hinges. It fell to the ground and landed with a booming crash. Through the rain I heard a low growl. Then six glowing red eyes appeared in front of my own. Three heads followed along with the a black scaley body.

"KING BLACK DRAGONS!!!" The king shouted. "FIRE AT WILL!" Arrows erupted off bows at the six glowing red eyes. The dragon howled in pain so loud I had to cover my ears. Fire burst out of all three of its head and it chraged into battle, followed by goblins, hellhounds, and foot soldiers.

"ATTACK!!!!" The king shouted and the army of Varrock ran forward to meet the enemy in battle.

Screams echoed across the courtyard as men were torn limb from limb by hellhounds. Bodies flew in all directions as the King Black Dragon trashed its way through the crowd of people. Mages screamed their spells and arrows flew in all directions. Even the air seemed to vibrate with the sounds of battle. I ran forward with the rest of the soldiers and slashed at a goblin in red armor.

"Green armor bad!" Were his last words before my sword connected with his neck. Eragna stood next to me casting ice spells, sending enemies flying backwards.

"RARRRRRRGH!!" A Zammorak soldier screamed as he ran at Eragna. Eragna leapt out of the way and casted a fire bolt spell directly into the soldiers chest and sent him flying off to join the rest of his companions in hell. I heard a snarl behind me and I turned around just in time to see a hellhound leap at me. I wasnt fast enough and it pinned me down to the ground. Its fangs glowed white as its face came closer to mine. I grasped my sword tightly and thrust it up into the hellhound's stomach. It howled and leaped off my chest. Blood leaked from its wound and it limped a few feet before falling to the ground, dead.

As I stood up, two goblins ran forward at me, both with deadly looking maces in their hands. I drew my shield in front of me and ran forward. I thrust it out and smashed the first goblin's head with my shield before slicing the other one in half with my sword. Their limp bodies fell to my feet, limp and most certainly dead.
