Jeff Riley
Jeff stepped off the ferry, and onto the island that would be his new home for the next few months. Silvermoon. Sounds like something from a werewolf anime... he thought to himself. He hated anime. Although he did find the concept of vampires and werewolves intriguing. Unfortunately, there were so many books, movies, and video games on the subject that most stories felt boring and unoriginal.
Pulling out his phone, he checked last text from his mom. It said 'good luck and have a great year!', and he rolled his eyes.
Sure, it was probably sincere, and he was sure she genuinely believed this would be a good experience for him, but no matter how much he tried to look forward to it, he just couldn't get excited. He knew nothing about the school or what the people were like, and what few friends he had were left behind.
Sighing to himself, he walked across the dock and set foot on dry land... stopping when he saw a girl trip over some fliers for some agricultural club thing, and then proceed to vomit all over the stack.
Well... that wasn't something you saw everyday...
"Er... are you okay?" He asked, walking over. It was then that he noticed a few others were gathering around as well, and he realized that probably only made her feel even worse.

Gary Riley
Little did Jeff know, his uncle was standing nearby.
Of course, the two didn't know they were related to each other, and had no way of knowing. After all, they looked nothing alike, and going from appearance alone they could very well be the same age.
Gary stepped off the boat, ready to begin another year at Silvermoon College. It was certainly an interesting place. For one, it was one of the only schools (if not the only) that had a significant population of vampires, werewolves, and other supernatural beings.
(continued) Beneath the gold, the Bitter Steel.
