Up until they were both seniors in high school, their life had been that of normal high school students. Glenn got his license before Julia got hers, much to her chagrin, and it was his duty to drive them wherever they needed to go. It was during one of these trips that things went south.
A late night, a curvy road, and a drunk driver all combined to form a scenario that almost killed them both. It was going to be a head on collision, had Glenn not swerved across the opposing lane. Even so, the drunk clipped them, and went off the road, and rolled down an embankment, stopping when they smashed into a tree.
Glenn was relatively unharmed, thanks to his airbag and seatbelt, and managed to stay conscious through the whole experience. His arm, which had shot across his sister to shield her, had been shredded by windshield glass.
Julia had not been so fortunate, besides being on the side of impact, it was also the same side that connected with the tree. She had been knocked unconscious by the accident, and she was nearly crushed inside her side of the car as it crumpled like a soup can. Unconscious, pinned, and bleeding out, she would have died had Glenn not immediately called for help, and used what little first aid training he had to keep pressure on her wounds.
Unfortunately, the car had crushed Julia’s left leg, nearly severing it. There was nothing that could be done for it, and years later, she has a fancy prosthetic. The accident left Julia slightly self-conscious about her injury, and Glenn pretty much blamed himself for everything that transpired.
Now, a year later, Julia has learned to walk without a limp, and Glenn has grown far more protective of his sister. They have both been accepted to the same school, and look forward to attending lessons on a private island.
Other: Nothing interesting here.
