However, some races by careful training and perseverance have managed to get these entities to work in some (though imperfect) harmony, and to make the entities subservient to the soul. These races are called the “enlightened races.” An enlightened race normally has several benefits from this harmony, among which are advanced cognitive abilities, resistance to aging and extremely powerful magic. In fact, so powerful are these races that many “unenlightened races” worship the members of an “enlightened race” as gods. (In addition to enlightened races, there are “semi-enlightened races” which have achieved certain power to influence the mind, body and spirit, but are often unable to get all three to work in unity.)

2) Blood Brothers: The Prantiqeth take their relationships very seriously, and often put real effort into making their relationships work. One of the closest relationships a Prantiqeth can be in is that of “Blood Siblings.” Legally, Blood Siblings have power of attorney for one another, and should a Prantiqeth die without a will or spouse, that Prantiqeth’s estate is split between all surviving Blood Siblings.

In order for two Prantiqeth to become Blood Siblings, they must first have tipped hair (see sect. 3 Tipped Hair) also, once they decide that they wish to become Blood Siblings, they first inform their parents, who, if having any objections will make them known. The Prantiqeth will then attempt to ease their parents concerns. If they cannot, the Prantiqeth must either wait one month, while still attempting to ease their parents’ concerns or decide not to become Blood Siblings. Either after their parents have been satisfied, or the Prantiqeth wishing to be Blood Siblings have attempted to satisfy said concerns for one month, they approach their local ruling council, and make their intentions known. At this time, if the parents have any remaing objections, they make these objections known to the council.

The council then questions both Prantiqeth thoroughly, in order to discern if they really understand what being Blood Siblings entails (unlike most human relationships a couple that becomes Blood Siblings remains so forever, so it is necessary for this questioning period.) After the questioning period, and after consideration of all the parents' concerns, the council either approves the couple or disapproves the couple. If the couple is disapproved, they may not become Blood Siblings, but may appeal the council’s decision after one etos has passed.

If the couple is approved, then the entire local community prepares for the festivities surrounding what is known as the “Binding Ritual.” Usually the festivities begin on the dawn of the day the Binding Ritual is to take place, with the ritual itself taking place at night; most of the time, those who are going to be “bound” sleep well into noon, so as to be well rested for the ritual itself.

Once it is dark, the community gathers to observe the Binding Ritual; if the community is an established Prantiqeth community, they will have a special area devoted to this ritual. The ritual consists of two parts; “the intentions” and “the vows”.

The intentions consist of the soon to be Blood Siblings performing mousiki (Prantiqeth ritual magic involving song and dance) in which they declare their intentions for their relationship. The mousiki may be performed simultaneously by the two soon-to-be Blood Siblings, or separately.

Once the intentions are finished, the vows occur. This part of the ritual involves a representative from the council coming forward and cutting the hands of both of the soon-to-be Blood Siblings. The two Prantiqeth then put their hands together, so that their blood mingles and recite the words “I do pledge to you…” (This is a major difference between a Prantiqeth binding and a Prantiqeth marriage, in a Prantiqeth marriage the vows are made to both to the partner and to the Prantiqeth god(s?)) followed by four vows: “My life for your life”, “My death for your life”, “My life for your death”, and “my death for your death.” Meaning respectively: “While we live, I will devote my life to you”, “I will gladly give my life to protect you from death”, “If you should die before me, I will spend the rest of my life furthering your wishes”, and “If you die before me, a part of me will die with you.” At the end of these vows, the Prantiqeth whisper to one another “So I…” and then say their full true name (see sec. 6 True Names) followed by “do swear on my lifeblood and spirit.”

3) Tipped Hair: As was mentioned early on in the add, Lior has white-tipped blonde hair, and as mentioned later on, his Blood Brother has white hair with purple tips. Due to the ilikia (see sec. 9 Ilikia) tipped hair is one of the few ways that one can guess a Prantiqeth’s age. Prantiqeth are born with a solid hair color (like humans) although, their hair can be unusual colors such as white, blue, or green. However, then a Prantiqeth hits adolescence, and completes the coming of age test, the tips of their hair turn a different color based on their hopes, dreams, personality, and abilities.

Any Prantiqeth with tipped hair is deemed an adult, legally and socially. And until this point, Prantiqeth are barred from becoming Blood Siblings or becoming married.

4) Warrior Prantiqeth: Prantiqeth, upon completing the coming of age ceremony, choose a profession. Most commonly chosen are: Warriors, who are, as their name suggests, warriors who specialize in melee; Archers, who are masters of ranged attacks; Mystics, who focus on learning pure magic; Artisans, who work with various crafts; Cultivators, who provide food and raw materials; and Clerics, who attend to the religious and spiritual needs of the other Prantiqeth. (It should be noted, that despite their various professions, all Prantiqeth use their formidable magic to help in their professions; for example, a Warrior might use magic to increase the sharpness of his blade, the durability of their armor, or with close range techniques.) "He appears in the Form of a Man with many Countenances; and he hath a Book in his right hand. His Office is to teach all Arts and Sciences unto any; and to declare the Secret Counsel of any one."

5) House of Light: Prantiqeth belong to various “Houses” which denote their magical specialties. According to Prantiqeth magical theory, there are nine elements of magic, to each of which is devoted a specific discipline or “House.” There are four low “Houses” devoted to the physical elements: “The House of Air”, “The House of Water”, “The House of Earth”, and “The House of Fire.” And four high “Houses” devoted to the primordial elements: “The House of Chaos”, “The House of Darkness”, “The House of Law”, and “The House of Light.” Finally there is one “House” devoted to the “element” “Spirit” however, there are very few (if any) Prantiqeth that can honestly say they are of “House of Spirit” also called “The Master House.”

A Prantiqeth chooses a low house at his or her coming of age ceremony, and if that Prantiqeth manages to become a “Master” of that house moves onto the following high house (the Prantiqeth believe that the House of Air is subservient to the House of Chaos, the House of Water is subservient to the House of Darkness, etc. So a Prantiqeth who had mastered the house of say, Earth, would be expected to become of the House of Law.)

Incidentally, the full title (see sec. 7 Arche-Sophos) of a Prantiqeth consists of his or her rank, followed by his or her public name (see sec. 6 True Names) followed by their profession followed by the word "Prantiqeth" and finally finishing with “of” whatever House they are of, e.g. Archmage Emily, Artisan Prantiqeth of the House of Earth. (An exception to this rule is found in the case of a Prantiqeth with the Kyrios rank. If the aforementioned Prantiqeth was a Kyrios, her full title would be "The August Kyrios Artisan, Emily.)

6) True Names: Prantiqeth, like other beings with great spiritual power (e.g. demons) believe that an individual’s name is the reflection of his or her spirit, and therefore knowing a person’s name can give one power over that person. As such, Prantiqeth have both a public name that is used for legal documents and public situations and a true name, which is considered a reflection of the person’s spirit.

When a Prantiqeth is first born they inherit their parents’ true family name (chosen by the parents on their wedding) and are given a “child’s name” which serves as a first name in the child’s true name. The child’s name is often that of a Holy or the public name of a powerful Prantiqeth. In addition, the child gets a public name, which bears the public family name of the child’s parents.

The Prantiqeth keeps both these names until the coming-of-age ceremony; upon the successful completion of which, the Prantiqeth “discovers” his or her true first name. After the ceremony, the Prantiqeth also chooses a public name (many Prantiqeth keep their public family name as a way of honoring their parents.)

Shortly after the coming of age ritual, many Prantiqeth go through a religious ritual, where they choose the name of a Holy as a “Patron Name” the Patron Name goes into the middle of the Prantiqeth’s true name.

Also, every time the Prantiqeth advances a rank, they add a new word to their true name. Either because the Prantiqeth names actually have power, or because of their adherence to the belief of such, the Prantiqeth seem actually unable to change their true names at all, other than these times, and their marriage (in which the newlyweds choose both a new public family name and true family name.)

If a Prantiqeth has all possible titles (see sec. 7 Arche-Sophos) their true name would be arranged as follows:
Royal Name(picked upon becoming a Kyrios),Chosen Name (picked at coming of age ceremony), Low Master Name (picked upon becoming an Archmage), Patron Name, High House Name (picked upon becoming a Sophos), High Master Name (picked upon becoming an Arche-Sophos), Family Name.

7) Arche-Sophos: The Prantiqeth have six titles which denote their skill level in the art of magic. An Initiate is someone who has not yet passed the coming of age ceremony, and therefore, does not belong to a House, or possess any notable skill in magic (“notable skill” is relative to other members of enlightened races. Prantiqeth children have often mastered spells such as the Gielinorian “blast spells” well before their coming of age ceremony.) After Initiate comes the Mage or Seeker title. A *Seeker” is a member of a House, and is working toward mastering his or her skills in that house, but has not yet achieved mastery. Following Seeker is the Archmage title. A Prantiqeth Archmage is one who has mastered a low house, and is now attempting to learn the art of a High House. Once an Archmage has become proficient in a High House, he or she becomes known as a “Sophos” and is eligible for governing positions. When a Sophos masters the art of his or her house, he or she becomes an “Arche-Sophos” and is eligible for higher forms of governing positions. Finally, if an Arche-Sophos were to become a Master of the House of Spirit, he or she would have been considered to have become a Master of all magic, and is bestowed the title “Kyrios.” However, throughout the Prantiqeth's long history, there have been only a handful of Kyrios, and at least most of these are nothing more than myths and legends.

8) Charm Fount/Beauty Fount: The Prantiqeth believe aesthetics are from, by, and for the soul, and that their God(s?) embody what they call the three aesthetic ideals: Charm, Beauty, and Majesty. Prantiqeth often become adherents to disciplines that focus on these ideals; believing that one can only learn of the House of Spirit by studying these ideals. Prantiqeth generally become adherents to the ideals they find most appealing and are afterward said to be adherents of the “Fount of” whatever aesthetic ideal. I will attempt to define the ideals as best I can, something which is difficult to do.

By the ideal “Majesty” the Prantiqeth understand a more “orderly” aesthetic that inspires feeling of power or respect. Examples include most male human formal attire, uniforms, and powerful machinery.

By the ideal “Charm” the Prantiqeth understand the aesthetic that inspires endearment, affection, and a longing to protect. Examples pretty much consists entirely of anything a person would describe as “cute.”

Finally, by the ideal “Beauty” the Prantiqeth understand anything which inspires admiration and awe. Examples would include a breath-taking sunset or landscape.

9) Ilikia: As part of their coming of age ceremonies, the Prantiqeth choose Ilikia (a word which roughly means “age.”) Such is the power of the Prantiqeth that they can mold their bodies to be whatever age they desire. The choice is not permanent as it can be changed in a complex ritual which occurs over the course of a week. However, it is often thought about carefully, as an Ilikia often conveys something of what a Prantiqeth wants out of his or her life.

Ilikia are often described in units of “anthropetos” (rough translation “human years” a nod to the face that the Prantiqeth are descended from a tribe of humans.) But often are given nicknames to describe the effect of the chosen Ilikia: A child’s Ilikia is one that is between five and twelve anthropetos, child’s Ilikia are often chosen by mischievous, free spirited Prantiqeth who are uninterested in having Blood Siblings or being married. A young Ilikia is one between thirteen and fifteen anthropetos, often a Prantiqeth with such an Ilikia is interested in his or studies and the potential of having Blood Siblings, but not interested in marriage. A youth’s Ilikia is one between sixteen and nineteen anthropetos, such Ilikia are often chosen by Prantiqeth who want to study and have a handful of close relationships. An adult Ilikia is one between twenty and twenty five anthropetos, and often symbolizes a Prantiqeth’s desire to find Blood Siblings and a potential spouse. A mature Ilikia between twenty six and thirty five anthropetos is one which symbolizes a desire to settle down and raise a family. A barren Ilikia is one between thirty six and seventy nine anthropetos and is so named due to the fact that it is basically unchosen. And finally, an elder Ilikia is one that is eighty or above, and is often chosen by Prantiqeth who shun close companionship, and wish to perfect their skills.

10) Antheatos: A standard Prantiqeth garb (worn by those who have come of age) consists of three layers of clothes.

The first is the antheatos, which serves basically as undergarments. Like all the layers of clothes, the amount of the body that the antheatos covers is often based on the House to which that Prantiqeth belongs. For example, Lior’s Blood Brother who is of the House of Darkness (which prizes modesty) has antheatos which cover his entire torso, shoulders, area under the waist, and the upper half of his thighs. Lior, on the other hand, being of the House of Light, has antheatos that cover only the area under his waist and his upper thighs. Members of the Houses of Law or Earth would be somewhere in between the two, and those of the Houses of Chaos and Air (which value being comfortable with one’s self) would likely have antheatos made of semi-transparent material (this, along with their often volatile natures is cited as being the reason that members of the two aforementioned Houses do not often have Blood Siblings that are of other Houses.)

The antheatos is often made of very comfortable material, and bears several sigla or symbols which enchant it so as to increase the wearer’s magic. Antheatos are usually only worn by themselves when one is in either their inner room, or in the inner room of one’s Blood Sibling. To wear them in a public place would be considered highly immodest and indecent (especially in the case that the antheatos worn was that of a member of the Houses of Chaos or Air.)
