Rose paused for a moment before replying, “Ten!”
The butler had a worried look on his face, but nonetheless summoned a bowl of sugar and proceeded to put ten spoonfuls into Rose’s cup.
“Anything else for you, sir?” asked the butler.
“No,* said Amethyst, “That will do for now.*
The butler bowed once more and vanished the same way he had appeared.
“Seriously,” said Rose, “Why do you keep the bunnies around here?”
“Maybe because they’re cute, polite, and make good servants?” suggested Amethyst.
“They’re whiny too,” sneered Rose, “But back to the main subject; is Aquaregis alive or dead?”
“You saw the battle as did I,” said Amethyst, “And Orcris has also seen it; so why do you ask?”
“Because,” replied Rose, “I know, unlike Orcris, that you can resurrect the dead!”
Upon hearing this, Orcris’ eyes widened, and he stared with shock at Amethyst
“Furthermore,” said Rose, “Aquaregis was an important piece for you, and I do not think you would let him die just like that!”
-Piece?- wondered Orcris.
“I will remind you,” said Amethyst, “That even an endless witch can only truly resurrect someone two hours after they have died. So unless I recently became an eternal witch without your knowledge, or unless I resurrected him a few hours ago, not even I can bring him back.”
“In other words,” said Rose, “You either replaced Aquaregis with a proxy, or, shortly after his duel with Sliske, you resurrected him so he could continue working for you! Then you showed me and Orcris the duel so that we would believe he was dead and lower our guard! Isn’t that right?!”
“Are you done?” asked Amethyst, “If so, I will annihilate your argument.”
“Oh, and how will you do that?” asked Rose, “I won’t fall for your silly logic.”
“Then I won’t use logic,” replied Amethyst.
“So then, what will you do?” asked Rose. "He appears in the Form of a Man with many Countenances; and he hath a Book in his right hand. His Office is to teach all Arts and Sciences unto any; and to declare the Secret Counsel of any one."
