Outside, the Zarosians looked on as the pyramid exploded with incredible force.

“I guess they’re dead,” mused Taiyama, “They couldn’t teleport out, and they certainly did*’t make it out here in time.”

“They’re not dead,” announced Rose.

“Then where did they go?” asked Taiyama, “They couldn’t be alive in that rubble.”

“It looks like Aquaregis took them to see the old hag,” hissed Rose, spite obvious in her voice.

“Well, it’s good they’re alive,” said Orcris, “I want to get a chance to fight that kid again.”

“You probably will,” said Caihoc, “But for now, we should find the other seals.”

“Well, what do you two have to say for yourselves?!”

Icthralin and Amascut stared at the ground, avoiding their father’s bloodshot eyes. “Destroying your mother’s temple, I swear! When will you two learn to respect other peoples**

Both Icthralin and Amascut sighed, realizing that their father’s lecture was likely to continue for the next couple of hours.

Within the temple of Zaros, a grey flame appeared on one of the pentagram’s points, and a evil aura began leaking into the room.

“Yes,” Zaros’ hollow voice filled the room, “Soon, I shall be free once more.”

Well, there you go, the end of Chapter 2. I would've posted it sooner but... exams and work... however, I only have one exam this week, and only work one day, so I should probably be able to do some more adds.

Akak20-Possibly because they're all used to getting their way and are spoiled?

Anyway, I have work and a project due tonight, so I don't think I'll be able to add yet. However, I should be able to make an add tomorrow.

So... I said there would probably be an add Tuesday, and it's now Thursday, but as anyone can see, there is no add. The reason for this is the next add is turning out to be much longer than I had thought it would be, so while I've been working on it (so far 3+ pages in MSWord (on 12pt font)), I'm still not done. However, it should be up tonight... I think... "He appears in the Form of a Man with many Countenances; and he hath a Book in his right hand. CHAPTER 3-THE WINDS OF CHANGE

It is said with the birth of our world came the birth of the four primordial gods; Ananke, goddess of order, who watches over the laws of the universe and safeguards the past; Erebos, god of darkness, who guards the secrets of the universe and sees that the dead reach their place of rest; Khaos, goddess of chaos, who is the driving force behind evolution, and who rules the future; and finally Aither, god of light, who safeguards life and the living. These four gods are said to have been created by the First God as he formed the universe. However, it is said that in addition to our universe, the First God created another world, a world that was purely spiritual.

According to the ancient texts, the First God created pure spirits to inhabit this other world. Many were glad to serve the First God, and swore their unending loyalty to their creator. There were some, however, who rebelled against the First God, and attempted to destroy the very one who created them. In response, the First God exiled these rebels from the worlds he had created, sending them into the Void, the nothingness which existed before the First God formed the universe. Yet, the First God did not destroy these rebels, and over the eons, they built their own world, as treacherous and evil as their own hearts, then, consumed by their hatred for the First God, they found their way back into the mortal realms, and now spend their time attempting to destroy all that the First God has created. Over time, mortals have come to refer to these spirits as demons, devils, and evil gods; many heroes have had their lives forfeited to these ancient beings.

The lands built by these fallen spirits, and etched into the Void itself are known as the Demon Realms. It is here that these evil spirits return should the bodies they construct fall to the hands of mortals. In the past, all of the Demon Realms was subjected to one ruler, the Void King; the Emperor of Demons, who is one of the most powerful spirits, said to be second only to the First God in power. However, an attempted coup d’état which occurred nearly two millennia ago has crippled this entity’s reach, and while he retained his home territory, much of the three other territories within the Demon Realms have wrested themselves from his control.

The first of these “freed” territories is the Inferno; a scorching desert under a never setting sun, the heat of which causes dragonite to flow like water. The natives of the Inferno are warmongering demons who delight in pain, bloodshed, violence, and destruction. Since Abbaddon, former governor of the Inferno aided in the attempted coup, he was sealed away by the Void King. Now the Inferno is filled with a multitude of factions, with the leader of each claiming to be the true ruler of the Inferno. These factions constantly fight amongst themselves, without any one faction managing to sustain a lead over the others for long. All the while, the Void King’s armies push back into the Inferno, intending to reclaim it.

A second of these “freed” territories, is Gehenna; a series of swamps and bogs which bear a thick, pungent, and poisonous mist. It is easy for outsiders to get lost in this territory, and find themselves sinking into some treacherous bog. Unlike their Infernal brethren, the Gehennal demons are a scholarly sort who prefer isolation. They long ago realized that their goals of destroying the creations of the First God would be better met if they worked together in an efficient hierarchy. Thus, while they hate one another as much as their Infernal brethren hate each other, the Gehennal demons grudgingly subject themselves to rulers. Even after the former governor of Gehenna, Ereshkigal was sealed away by the Void King for her part in the attempted coup, the Gehennal demons remained united, and declared Ereshkigal’s chosen heir, Barbatos, the new ruler of Gehenna.

The final “freed” territory is the Abyss; a dark, frozen land found at the absolute bottom of a chasm in the northern part of the demon realms. No light penetrates the abyss, and even air freezes solid in its depths. The natives of the abyss are cunning demons who prefer a cloak and dagger approach to politics and war rather than all out war or unity. Thus, within the abyss, treachery and backstabbing are an everyday occurrence. The former governor of the Abyss, Beelzebul, was able to keep Abyss mostly under his control, but like the governors of the other lands, he was involved in the attempted coup against the Void King, and also sealed away. Since then, three factions have arisen in the Abyss; one loyal to Beelzebul, one rumored to be controlled by the Void King’s chief advisor, Belial, and a third known to be controlled by the Void King’s second-in-command, Lilith.
