ANYONE OUT THERE?

Three sets of adds, and not a single comment... Come on, isn't there something worth saying, like "Great adds, or These adds stink, or add more!" ?

It's too quiet here...

I haven't read this in a long time. Refreshing to read it again.

The portrayal of the gods is quite neat!

...Isn't Jas the most powerful god, and Guthix the god who shaped Gielinor?

Other than Conflagaration of Chaos and Emeny? of Wisdom, what other god spells are there? Like Bandos, or Armadyl or Seren...

Watching this space.

Caihoc, Rose, Taiyama and Amascut dashed through the tunnel, and soon found themselves in a large room bearing a single pedestal. On this pedestal was what appeared to be an abacus without beads.

“The Threads of Fate,” commented Caihoc, “Said to reveal the future to the one who owns them.”

“They are disgusting!” exclaimed Rose, “Nothing more than Ananke’s attempt to force order on the future; the domain of chaos. Let’s hurry up and destroy them.”

“I’m afraid that won’t be very easy,” a disembodied voice called.

“Icthralin,” hissed Amascut, recognizing the voice as her brother’s. Within moments, Seth, Aquaregis, Selene, and Icthralin appeared in the room.

“Well, it seems we’re evenly numbered now,* commented Selene, “But you look far less ready to fight; I don’t think you’ll stand a chance.”

“We’ll see about that,” muttered Taiyama as he drew his sword.

“No she’s right,” said Caihoc, “We’re no match for them right now. We have to retreat… how unfortunate; we had come so close…”

“We’re not going anywhere until those threads are destroyed!” shouted Rose, “I’ll do it myself if I need to!” So saying Rose lifted up her hands, shut her eyes and began to chant,
“Chaotic Sea from which the world came to be,
True Leader of all who are free,
Thou who art queen of anarchy,
No chains, no laws, great enough to bind thee…”

As she chanted, a strange fire surrounded Rose, changing color with every flicker.

Taiyama cringed as he watched the flames; it seemed as if an unsurpassable power had filled the room.

“Thou, radiant darkness and obscuring light,
There are none can surpass thy might.
Thou living death and dead life,
Ruler over discord and strife,” continued Rose, the power around her increasing by the second.

“Incredible,” gasped Selene, “This power… I’ve never felt anything like it... It*s even more frightening than the god of darkness was…”

“Thou, the awaken sleep and slumbering awake,
The free winds dance for thy sake,
Mistress of both drug and wine,
All who defy order are thi-” Here Rose was cut off as Caihoc grabbed her arm. “Enough!” he shouted, “If you use this spell here, we’ll all be destroyed!”

“Shut up!” shouted Rose, blasting the warlock aside with a burst of red lightning. “Now where was I?” asked Rose, looking back toward the opposing group. However, she realized something was wrong. “Where the heck is Aquaregis?” she demanded.

“Mistress, look!” shouted Amascut.

Rose turned to where Amascut was pointing and saw Aquaregis running toward the Threads of Fate, his hand outstretched.

“No!* hissed Rose, realizing that once the mage had the Threads of Fate, he could simply teleport away with them, making it extremely difficult to destroy them. However, as Aquaregis’ hand had reached the Threads, a clap of thunder filled the room, and a dark flame burst from the ground right next to the mage, throwing him aside.

“Looks like I made it just in time,” a voice said from the flames.

“Now what?” sighed Icthralin, “Those flames were definitely Zaros’ power* what’s going on.”

“Very good, it is true Zaros sent me here,” commented the voice.

“Who are you?” asked Caihoc.

As if in response, the flames died down, revealing a tall figure with mild elvin features and long dark hair. “Consider me your reinforcements,” said the newcomer, “My name is-“

“Orcris!” Rose interrupted, tackle-hugging the half elf, “I finally found you!”

“Um, do I know you?” asked Orcris, taken aback by the girl’s sudden and bizarre actions.

“How could you forget your own wife?!” demanded Rose, pouting.

“Wife?” questioned Orcris, “When did that happen?”

“Oh, that's right... you were asleep; so I guess you don’t remember,” answered Rose.

“I see…” said Orcris, realizing that the girl he was talking to was about as far from sane as a person could get, “Um, listen,” he continued, “Could you let go of me?”

“Why?” asked Rose.

Orcris thought for a moment, then smiled, “So I can get you the Threads of Fate as a present.”

“Ooo, in that case…” said Rose, letting the half elf go.

“Now,* said Orcris, turning to the opposing group, “Please stand down, I’d rather not kill all of you.”

“You think you can do it?” asked Selene, not even trying to hide her amusement as she tightened her grip on her naginata.

“Please, could you let me handle him?” asked Seth.

“Why?” asked Selene.

“I can tell,” replied Seth, “He’s very strong… I don’t get to fight people on his level very often, so please…”

“Do what you want,* commented Selene with a shrug.

“Seth, be careful,” said Aquaregis, *That sword he has with him is a Soul Eater… if he kills you with it, he gets all your strength and skills.”

“I know,” replied Seth, “Don’t worry, I’ll be careful. But, Aquaregis, don’t interfere.” So saying, Seth made his way toward Orcris, drawing his sword.

“Only one of you?” asked Orcris, drawing his own sword, “This will be quick.”

“You should never take your opponents lightly,” Seth chastised him.

“Same for you,” replied Orcris, “Whenever you’re ready, we can begin.”

Seth smiled, and dashed forward. Orcris’ eyes widened, Seth was moving faster than he had anticipated. Still, he was able to quickly parry the Seth’s attack, knocking the boy’s sword to the side. Taking advantage of the opening he had created, Orcris stabbed at Seth’s torso, missing as the boy sidestepped and sent a kick to the half-elf’s ribs. The half elf acted like he was falling from the kick, before simultaneously slashing at Seth’s leg with his sword and pushing himself away.

“Impressive,” said Seth as he looked at the slash in his right leg, “It’s been ages since someone actually managed to wound me in a swordfight.”

“And you were saying something about me underestimating you,” said Orcris, picking himself up. To his surprise, Seth actually laughed. “What’s so funny?” demanded the half elf.

“It’s just,” said Seth, “I’m pretty happy right now. I’ve finally found someone I can fight without holding back!”

“You expect me to believe you were holding back?” asked Orcris, “Did you think I’d fall for a bluff like that?”

“How foolish,” Seth sighed, *I don’t care if you believe me or not, but… here I come!”

Orcris’ eyes widened with shock as Seth elbowed him in the gut and sent him flying. The boy had moved with speed that Orcris hadn’t even seen in the Iowerth’s elite troops. Before he could even try to slow himself down, the half elf slammed into the wall of the temple, coughing up blood as he did so. Still, Orcris picked himself up, ignoring the pain and preparing for his counter attack.

“You’re no ordinary kid,” spat Orcris, *What are you?”

Seth smiled again and replied, “I guess you could say that Rose and I are alike.”

“Oh great,” moaned Caihoc.

“What is it?” asked Taiyama.

“He’s the child of light,” replied Caihoc, “That Orcris guy is strong, but even so, there’s a massive difference in power between the two.”

“Don’t tell me you’re planning on staying there until I attack?” asked Seth, noticing Orcris hadn’t moved, “Like I’d allow that.” So saying, Seth swung his sword, unleashing a wave of light at the half elf. Orcris swung his own sword at the wave of light, blocking the attack, but unfortunately for him, the force of Seth’s attack managed to break Orcris’ blade in two.

“You’re disarmed now,* Seth pointed out, “I don’t think you’ll last much longer.” So saying Seth began creating new wave of light which he sent at Orcris. The half elf nimbly dodged, allowing the waves to hit and destroy portions of the wall as he tried to circle Seth. Finally, he stopped, apparently exhausted.

“Too bad, you weren’t as much of a challenge as I had hoped,” Seth sighed, unleashing a final wave of light, about twice as large as the others.

“No Seth, don’t!” Aquaregis shouted. But it was too late; with a smirk on his face, Orcris jumped aside, revealing the pedestal on which the Threads of Fate sat. The wave of light slammed directly into the pedestal, obliterating it, along with the Threads of Fate.

There was a moment of silence as the two groups looked on in shock, then the temple filled with a powerful wind and a ball of energy began to build where the Threads of Fate had been.

“We have to get out of here,” warned Caihoc, practically pulling Taiyama and Rose toward the tunnel as Orcris followed behind.

“He’s right,” said Selene, “Aquaregis, teleport us out of here, quickly!”

“Uh... I can’t,” replied the mage.

“What?!” demanded Selene.

“The power from the Threads of Fate is an orderly power,” explained the mage, “It’s reinforced the dimensional wall throughout the temple. So... it’s impossible to teleport in or out right now.”

“And I don’t think we can make it to the exit,” added Seth.

“Well, think of something!” exclaimed Selene.

Aquaregis thought for a moment then said, “Oh Ferryman who dwells on the five rivers of the netherworld, grant us safe passage on thy boat, and sail us on this stream of power back to its source.” As Aquaregis finished his incantation, a thick shadow fell on the group, and it seemed to Selene as if she could see, in the edges of the shadow, a stooped, bony figure with an oar in its hands. However, her vision soon began to blur, and she fell into an uneasy sleep.
